My roster from my draft yesterday:QB- Carson PalmerRB- Frank GoreRB- Clinton PortisWR- Reggie Wayne WR- TJ HoushWR- Hines WardDef- MiamiK- Sebastian JanikowskiBN- Jon KitnaBN- Cedric BensonBN- Deshaun FosterBN- Jerico CotcheryBN- Braylon EdwardsBN- Ronald CurryBN- Green BayBN- Josh ScobeeI had a very good draft....only had one screw up. I could have had Marshawn Lynch instead of Foster, but I thought he was gone already. Only have 2 kickers b/c we have to, and tight ends are grouped with WR's.[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 9:07 AM. heres my draft from yesterday...12 team league...no points for completions or receptions4th and a MileView All Round Pick Player Position 1. (2) Steven Jackson RB 2. (23) Chad Johnson WR 3. (26) Edgerrin James RB 4. (47) Andre Johnson WR 5. (50) Jamal Lewis RB 6. (71) Kellen Winslow TE 7. (74) San Diego DEF 8. (95) Matt Leinart QB 9. (98) Brandon Jackson RB 10. (119) D.J. Hackett WR 11. (122) Santonio Holmes WR 12. (143) Leon Washington RB 13. (146) Green Bay DEF 14. (167) Mike Furrey WR 15. (170) Jeff Reed K should i drop leon washington for anthony thomas? a few notable free agents out there are anthony thomas, steve mcnair, michael pittman, correll buckhalter, trent green, kevin faulk...any moves i should make or sit on this lineup at least for the first week?
9/5/2007 10:15:29 AM
I would probably leave your roster as is for the time being. Only change I could see would be adding a backup QB(I would pick McNair over Green).. Not sure who you'd drop. Probably GB Def.I still have a plethora of RB's from the ridiculous ESPN auto draft. Nobody is biting on trade so I'm going to just have to hope some RB's get hurt in the first few weeks. In the meantime who do I start this week? Start 2:Brian Westbrook @GB(definite starter)Ronnie Brown @WAS(Leaning towards for 2nd RB start)Cedric Benson @SDChester Taylor vs. ATLMarshawn Lynch vs DENLadell Betts vs. MIADeShaun Foster @StLBrandon Jackson vs. PHI
9/5/2007 10:27:36 AM
^^I can't believe whoever drafted westbrook didn't get buckhalter too....he could be really valuable down the road as it seems everyone is banking on westbrook getting hurt this year.[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 10:29 AM. Reason : .]
9/5/2007 10:28:36 AM
^^i say westbrook and brown...brown is about the only other choice who's not going to be sharing a big load...he'll be starting RB, third down RB and goal line RB...and he's healthy...gotta play him...also washington's defense is supposed to be horrible this year[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 10:29 AM. Reason : .]
9/5/2007 10:29:07 AM
Thanks, thats what I was learning towards. 2 more questions. The AutoDraft screwed me at QB and I got lucky and got Garrard in FA right after he was named starter. Start 2:Chad Pennington vs. NERex Grossman @ SDDavid Garrard vs. TENI know its a horrible situation. Nobody is biting on trades yet. Been trying to get Leinart for Chester Taylor and Cedric Benson. Also who should I start at 3rd WR spot(Terry Glenn would normally start there but he's Q):Santonio Holmes @CLEor Chris Chambers @ WAS
9/5/2007 10:38:57 AM
i would probably say Garrard and SantonioGrossman is going against a good SD defense and Pennington a good NE defense...Tennessee isn't as strongChambers or Holmes could both have pretty good games, and both against below average defenses...I just think Roesthlisberger and Holmes already have a year of good chemistry...I think Chambers and Green still have to work it out...also Holmes had a few hundred more yard than Chambers last year...lots of people are saying he might have more yards than Hines Ward this year!also is culpepper available in your league? i have him as my backup QB in another league...who knows how he'll do but i think he's gonna have a solid year...dont forget he was one of the top fantasy players a few years ago with minnesota, and if he can stay healthy he is a nice pass/run dual threat...course thats assuming he's available[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 10:44 AM. Na someone picked him up the first round of Waivers. I got lucky with Garrard. Another guy in my league was 1 on the waiver wire and got Leftwich first. Next day Garrard was named starter so I picked him up on FA. Only 2 starters left on FA are Charlie Frye, and Tarvaris Jackson
9/5/2007 10:47:46 AM
pick two RB:Travis Henry (current starter)Thomas Jones (current starter)Fred TaylorLamont JordanVernand Morency
9/5/2007 10:51:16 AM
I would leave it. Although I do think Lamont will have a pretty good yearLast question. My TE is Dallas Clark. Should I pick up Jason Witten on FA and drop Clark?
9/5/2007 10:54:08 AM
^^I'd say Henry and I'd probably take Jordan over Jones this week, just because New England's defense is strong and Detroit's isn't...although Henry and Jones wouldn't be a bad choice eitherMorency might not play week 1 and if he does he'll be splitting carries with Brandon Jackson against a pretty good Philadelphia defense...Taylor is going against a bad Tennessee defense but sharing carries with Jones-Drew^i say yes...if Witten is on waivers I'd take him over Clark...Indy has so many weapons like Marvin, Reggie, Addai...even Utecht could get some TE catchesWitten and Clark both went in the 7th round of my draft...Witten a little higher...but I definitely like him over Clark simply based on # of weapons on each team[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 10:57 AM. I'm thinking that the Patriots defense might be a little suspect for the first few weeks without Harrison and Seymour in the lineupand after last year, I'm a little worried about starting Lamont Jordan[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Reason : asdf]
9/5/2007 10:59:33 AM
How is Witten on waivers? How many people are in that league 6-8?So do I start Holmes vs Cle or Gonzalez vs NO?[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 11:03 AM. Reason : Add a question]

Ginn will be useless for the first few games at least.
9/5/2007 11:14:00 AM
kick returns = big points, and he's slated to KR/PR starter over Az. The first week or 2 are always the hardest to pick til everyone finds their groove and see how their roles play out[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 11:17 AM. Reason : .]
9/5/2007 11:15:53 AM
what do yall think about Jeff King (Panthers) as a TE?What's the deal with LJ Smith? His hamstring going to be worth a damn?
9/5/2007 11:26:48 AM
I'm starting to get kinda doubtful about L.J. Smith personally.
9/5/2007 11:43:50 AM
I was reading that S Graham is nursing a hip injury. Is this true? Should I pick up another kicker for week 1?
9/5/2007 11:48:50 AM
^^I am too. But I don't want to drop him and them get slapped in the face by him later... and I don't want to carry 2 TE's.I think I'm just going to wait and see how he does in practice today/tomorrow in pads then make a decision.Thoughts on Jeff King? He should be a good red-zone guy for Delhomme/Carr.
9/5/2007 12:28:23 PM
are there no more TE's available?with the way Jake has been throwing the ball for the panthers, he cant even get the ball out to Steve Smith, I wouldnt trust him to complete more than a pass or two to King per game.
9/5/2007 12:45:39 PM
this isn't fake
9/5/2007 1:26:02 PM
Available TE's:Tony Scheffler (Den - TE) David Martin (Mia - TE) Marcus Pollard (Sea - TE) Ben Troupe (Ten - TE) Chris Baker (NYJ - TE) Jerramy Stevens (TB - TE) David Thomas (NE - TE) Dan Campbell (Det - TE) George Wrighster (Jac - TE) John Gilmore (Chi - TE) Bryan Fletcher (Ind - TE) Alex Smith (TB - TE) Brandon Manumaleuna (SD - TE) Stephen Alexander (Den - TE) Steve Heiden (Cle - TE) Matt Schobel (Phi - TE) Robert Royal (Buf - TE) Ben Utecht (Ind - TE) Joe Klopfenstein (StL - TE) Reggie Kelly (Cin - TE) Marcedes Lewis (Jac - TE) Kris Wilson (KC - TE)
9/5/2007 1:32:21 PM
^^I wonder if he'll lead the league in drops like he did last year...2nd years with teams are the years when TO blows up^I like Ben Troupe[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 1:33 PM. Reason : .]
9/5/2007 1:33:29 PM
troupe looks Questionable for week 1 with ankle injury. hopefully LJ Smith will be fine, he just scares me.
9/5/2007 1:36:35 PM
well Scheffler scored 4 TDs in the last 4 games last year...might be worth a shot
9/5/2007 1:39:21 PM
^^ I just picked up Owen Daniels off waivers because I don't trust LJ Smith to actually play this week. I had to drop Terry Glenn because my team is pretty loaded with RBs and I didn't want to drop a guy like Norwood, C.Taylor, Marion Barber, etc that could be valuable later in the season. Plus Glenn could be a bust this year.
9/5/2007 1:48:47 PM
This is my first year doing fantasy football.. not really sure if I came out okay, 10 team, default scoring.QB: BulgerWR: Larry FitzgeraldWR: Andre JohnsonWR: Santonio HolmesRB: Frank GoreRB: Reggie BushTE: David MartinBench: Cutler, Leinart, Ahman Green, Bernard Berrian, Jason WittenKicker: Jason ElamDef: Miami, SeattleDef Bench: Tampa Bay

Solid teamDrop the Seattle DDrop Martin and make Witten the starterDrop one of your extra QB's, I'd say CutlerPick up at least 2 more RB's with those roster spots, and one more WR
9/5/2007 2:02:33 PM
So tampa defense over seattle defense? And some of the available RB's: Fred Taylor, Julius Jones, Tatum Bell, Ladell Betts, Brandon Jackson, Lamont Jordan, Deshaun Foster, Kevin Jones, Vernand MorencyAnd WR's: Anthony Gonzalez, Isaac Bruce, Joe Horn, Jerry Porter, Ronald Curry, Derrick Mason, Brandon Jones, Eddie Kennison[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 2:15 PM. 9/5/2007 2:20:15 PM
9/5/2007 2:31:27 PM
Actually drop both Tampa and Seattle, I didn't realize you had 3 defenses as that is practically unheard of in fantasy footballYou should have just 1, and feel free to swap it out on a weekly basis based on the opponent
9/5/2007 3:13:52 PM
9/5/2007 3:15:17 PM
We are allowed to start two defenses, should i still only have one?
9/5/2007 3:17:28 PM
barring injury, I bet reggie wayne will have a better season than harrison this year.^^the way it looks, he's starting two d's[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 3:18 PM. Reason : yep.]
9/5/2007 3:18:17 PM
Oh well if start two than thats totally different and makes having a backup defense a possibility because there will hardly be any D's on the waiver wire.I'd say keep all 3, if you're going to cut on, make it Tampa. On another note, just read LJ will have a limited workload early[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 3:19 PM. Reason : x]
9/5/2007 3:18:37 PM
Yeah the only defenses on the waiver are Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Washington. Tampa and Seattle are playing each other week one... so I dont know which of those two to start, based on my limited football knowledge I would think Seattles going to win the game, but I dont know.
9/5/2007 3:20:20 PM
so tell me who I should start at my flex (W/R) spot in each of my two leagues:League 1 / 10 team league / PPR (points per reception) leagueW/R Jamal Lewis (Cle - RB) BN Deion Branch (Sea - WR) BN Julius Jones (Dal - RB) BN Ladell Betts (Was - RB) BN Bernard Berrian (Chi - WR)League 2 / 12 team league / non-PPR leagueW/R Jamal Lewis (Cle - RB)BN D.J. Hackett (Sea - WR)BN Santonio Holmes (Pit - WR)BN Brandon Jackson (GB - RB)BN Leon Washington (NYJ - RB)BN Mike Furrey (Det - WR)i'm leaning towards lewis in both leagues, even if it is against Pitt's defense
9/5/2007 3:36:04 PM
Panthro made a good point earlier about how Cleveland will probably be trailing most of the game vs Pitt, and will have to throw to try to catch up, severly limiting Lewis' value.I like one of the WR's in the PPR league, probably Branch, even though he has Ronde Barber on him, He's got Hasselbeck to Berrian's Grossman. For the second league, I'd say Jackson If I knew he was going to get most of the carries over Morency, but I don't. So I'd say Lewis for now but pay attention to the Packers info from now till Sunday.
9/5/2007 3:51:43 PM
they say Morency isn't gonna be 100% for Week 1I know what you mean about Cleveland probably trailing, but he's still a starting RB/3DRB/GLRB all in one...if they do get in the redzone he's a threat to score and will probably get 20+ carries anywayalso I have Kellen Winslow at TE in both leaguescourse Leon Washington balled out on the Patriots last time they played...he will get some carries to relieve JonesI might just start Branch and Hackett...I dunno[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 3:55 PM. 9/5/2007 3:54:26 PM
Did an auto draft for an 8 team standard scoring league and this is what I ended up with. I would like to get another big name WR to replace Williams or Stallworth with. I proposed a trade for Tory Holt (I know his knee isn't 100%) with me giving up Vinatieri (there are plenty of good kickers on the board) and Andre Johnson. I can cancel the trade as it hasn't been accepted yet. What do you think about the risk of taking Holt?QB - Marc BulgerWR - Donte StallworthWR - Donald DriverWR - Roy WilliamsRB - steven JacksonRB - Rudi JohnsonTE - Antonio GatesK - Adam VinatieriDEF - DenverBN - Darrell Jackson BN - Ronnie BrownBN - Andre JohnsonBN - Philip RiversBN - Jerricho CotcheryBN - Adrian Peterson
9/5/2007 4:08:53 PM
I think you should start Andre instead of Stallworth...AJ led the league in catches last year
9/5/2007 4:11:09 PM
I haven't nailed down the starters yet and that was the way they were arranged on the draft. I will probably bench Driver instead of Stallworth. Driver is hurt and might not even play the first week. I could be wrong, but I think with Randy Moss on the other side opening things up, Stallworth could have a great year.If I pick up Holt, it's a moot point.
9/5/2007 4:17:07 PM
^^^ Yeah, that trade would be great if you could get him to accept it.Kickers are too unpredictable, you never know which kicker is going to be good (fantasy wise) from season to season.
