going to be rained out today
6/3/2007 6:28:21 AM
very likely ... was just looking at the radar and thinking about that, sadly enough. in years past when i had to travel wit some of our clients, i hated going to dover because it seemed like it ALWAYS rained, and if the race wasn't postponed, qualifying or practice was. always something there. and the media center felt like it was so far away from the garage ... and it was just plain disgusting because the whole infield remains unpaved because of the horse track. never wear long pants or nice shoes to that track....bleh, now i'm going to be late to work. oops.
6/3/2007 7:01:22 AM
I always wished they would run Milwaukee instead of Dover.Dover is just Bristol if it were too long to be exciting. Blah. ]

^^ And they say NASCAR is not becoming F1. Just listen to the fans. [Edited on June 3, 2007 at 11:10 AM. Reason : .]

Jeff Hammond on start of Dover telecast. His sources are telling him Dale Jr. will sign with Gibbs within 10 days and it will be with Adidas and Visa.

They wont race today, that same tropical stuff thats in NC is hitting them so itll take a whole day to move through...
6/3/2007 1:09:29 PM
Did y'all see the little car that DW and the guys gave Jeff Gordon for his little girl?! It was during the pre-race stuff...it was SO CUTE! They actually gave it to him a while back, but I never saw it before today.[Edited on June 3, 2007 at 5:30 PM. Reason : ]

^^NASCAR Vice Chairman Bill France Passes Away At Age of 74DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 4, 2007) – NASCAR Vice Chairman William C. France, whose leadership helped turn a family-owned company into a national phenomenon, died today at his home in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the age of 74.France served as NASCAR’s president from 1972-2000, taking over from his father, NASCAR founder William H.G. “Big Bill” France. In 2000, France – known as “Bill Jr.” – became NASCAR’s CEO and the chairman of the newly created NASCAR Board of Directors. In October 2003, the torch was again passed, with France’s son Brian France taking over as Chairman and CEO. France became Vice Chairman at that time, whereupon his influence and input remained considerable – and valuable.“He had a remarkable career and an even-more remarkable life,” said Brian France. “Words cannot express how much he’ll be missed by myself and the rest of our family and by the NASCAR industry overall.”Mike Helton became NASCAR’s president in 2000. He was the third president in the sport’s history and the first not named France.“Coming in, I had two big pairs of shoes to fill,” Helton said, talking about Bill Sr. and Bill Jr. “I was more familiar with Bill Jr.’s way of doing business but that didn’t make it any easier. He blazed so many trails for our sport. He was determined to follow the vision of his father while also expanding on that vision. Over nearly four decades, he did a masterful job.”France is survived by his wife Betty Jane France, NASCAR’s assistant secretary; his son Brian; daughter Lesa France Kennedy, NASCAR’s vice president and assistant treasurer; his brother James C. France, NASCAR’s vice chairman and executive vice president; and three grandchildren.Funeral arrangements are pending.

anybody going to order the dirt racing ppv with Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, and Bobby Labonte tonight?
6/6/2007 6:20:03 PM
how bout a link to a sopcast/tvu player or some other streaming app to watch it online for free?anyone know of anything? i'm looking but no luck so far.
6/6/2007 7:29:36 PM
the dirt race turned out to be hell of a lot more exciting than pocono is going to be sunday. bill elliot flipped over on his roof and there was a good 3 way battle for the lead in the main.
6/7/2007 7:15:25 AM
yeah it was actually a very competitive night. A buddy and I ordered it last night and it was a lot of fun. Jeff Gordon has hardly lost a step on dirt and its been 16 years since his last race on that surface. In the main he drove the hell out of a failing car and finished nose to nose with KB for 2nd and 3rd. Carl Edwards won the feature and Tony Stewart wrecked about halfway through and was unable to finish. Its great to see those guys get out there on the surface where most of them all began their careers.
6/7/2007 7:51:49 AM
Dirt race? Where was this at? How can I see it? "Dirt's for racin', asphalt's for gettin' there"
6/7/2007 9:18:30 AM
it was the 3rd annual Prelude to the Dream charity race at El Dora Speedway (owned by Tony Stewart). Its a big charity race to benefit Victory Junction promoted by Stewart with most of nascar, nhra, etc's big names. This year was the first year it was broadcast and it was on HBO PPV. Even though it was for fun and charity there was a lot of rubbin and a lot of hard racing.
6/7/2007 10:39:36 AM
qualifying at Pocono has started ... listening to Kyle Petty do the broadcast with Dallenbach and Weber. so far, i must say i'm impressed.
6/8/2007 3:45:05 PM
What do you mean "even though it was for charity"?! A lot of the guys care so much about the charity races! They will put on a hell of a show for the audience too when its for charity. Yeah, I bet Kyle would be a good announcer. Plus, he's got such a good voice, if you ask me, I dunno, maybe its because we're from the same place! [Edited on June 8, 2007 at 5:26 PM. Reason : ]

Pocono...
6/10/2007 2:32:04 PM
There's a race on Fox that has had four cautions, a bunch of wrecks, a couple cars disqualified, a very scary accident where the driver's safety was in question, the defending champion's driving today has been comical and has gone off course four times, 8 cars are out, the worst backmarker team in the field passed the defending champion team on the outside for position, and it had a first-time winner. It's not the NASCAR race though, it was the F1 one up in Montreal. Driver Robert Kubica is alert, he may have broken feet though.[Edited on June 10, 2007 at 2:47 PM. Reason : .]
6/10/2007 2:36:17 PM
oh my goodness, that looks scary! Yeah, I think they said last week that Fox wasn't showing the races for 3 weeks...not positive though. Its on TNT today.
6/10/2007 2:49:45 PM
^ They're done for the year. TNT is picking up 6 races I believe and then ABC/ESPN take over for the rest of the year.
6/10/2007 2:51:04 PM
Oh yeah! thats right, I remember them saying that now. They said they'll be back in February for the Daytona 500. I'm a goober. So, when does this race start??
6/10/2007 3:23:28 PM
what are the chances of this bitch actually going today
6/10/2007 3:39:16 PM
i've totally been on the enterprise! Props to carl
6/10/2007 3:53:23 PM
TNT = meh.i don't really like the intervals being on the same line, i like FOX.ESPN isn't bad either.
6/10/2007 5:37:00 PM
TNT.. too many commercials.. they stick to the same drivers for too long.. I didn't care to watch the Burton, Earnhardt, Kahne, and Mears battle for 5 minutes. and it is much harder to read the positions or any numbers on the graphics in HD than FOX.
6/10/2007 5:44:45 PM
yeah tnt is screwin the pooch
6/10/2007 5:59:38 PM
^^ That's not TNT, that's just NASCAR TV in general.
6/10/2007 6:21:39 PM
Excuse me, NASCAR...can we get a frickin caution!!!! I don't care how close we are to rain and to halfway...when there's that much crap on the track from Jimmie's tire...COME ON!! [Edited on June 10, 2007 at 6:47 PM. Reason : ]
6/10/2007 6:46:21 PM
Whatever...I don't care.Jeff is in the lead, and its pouring rain...GO JEFF, FINISH THIS THING OUT!!!
6/10/2007 6:50:38 PM
he finished it out all right....
6/10/2007 7:36:00 PM
Yeah if you don't think Nascar helped Gordon win this race then you are kidding yourself. Another quarter of a lap and Newman wins this thing. Nice timing Nascar, really nice timing. And TNT sucked it up today, FOX does a much better job.
6/10/2007 7:58:12 PM
^ you could argue that they didn't throw the caution out early enough.. it was coming down pretty good at the tunnel turn a lap or so before the caution. but yea.. Gordon got lucky..
6/10/2007 8:43:11 PM
You never know what could have happened if the race went to the end...anyone could have won-including Gordon. They really should have thrown the caution long before, they're lucky a rookie didn't gt really hurt with such a wet track. This is Gordon's year...I dont give a shit what anyone says about NASCAR "helping" him. [Edited on June 10, 2007 at 8:55 PM. Reason : ]
6/10/2007 8:54:41 PM
"Gordon's Year"he doesn't win the races where he dominateshow many times can you be in the right place at the right time?his luck will run out
6/10/2007 9:13:23 PM
gordon loves the cock
6/11/2007 12:59:58 AM
as someone that dislikes gordon, and resents the way hendrick drivers have it easy in general, i am definitely liking the chase format right now. i see jeff running away with the points lead but i take comfort in the fact that there will still be a chance for him to get knocked out of the lead when the chase rolls around.
6/11/2007 1:41:11 AM
I'm tired of this crap. Pocono is flat and slow, give them some grooved tires and run the damn race.
6/11/2007 1:47:24 AM

6/12/2007 3:19:36 PM
This was the only real option possible unless Jr. planned to start his own team. But new teams don't win championships and he would have been better staying with DEI. Wonder who is gonna get the boot over at Hendrick. Gibbs dropped the ball on this one. I guess he has enough money to keep his "morals" and not worry about signing Jr. On another note. I wont be surprised to see Greg Biffle take Jr's spot next year at DEI. [Edited on June 12, 2007 at 3:38 PM. Reason : GO KENSETH]
