5/2/2007 9:10:20 PM
i predict one of two things tonight:Kobe scores 52 and the Lakers loseKobe scores 34 and the Lakers winstay tuned!
5/2/2007 9:19:00 PM
If Kobe is innocent, then so is michael jackson...and O.J for that matter
5/2/2007 9:20:32 PM
Lakers almost never lose when Kobe scores 50+
5/2/2007 9:22:14 PM
I feel it too. Lakers are going to win game 5 tonight in Phoenix
5/2/2007 9:37:32 PM
I want the Lakers to win but can't see it happening unless Kobe says to Steve
5/2/2007 10:12:24 PM
AHAHAH.If the Lakers win, I'll never post in Sports Talk again. If the lose, namwod and bigstatemain are goners.deal?I'm trying to get these n00bs the hell outta here.lol
5/2/2007 10:23:30 PM
My predictionKobe scores 86Suns 118Lakers 88
5/2/2007 10:48:19 PM
Ok the Lakers lost but lets get back to the Point.KOBE BRYANT = NBA MVP.If Kobe and Dirk were traded, the Mavs would dominate and sweep everone in route to a NBA championship and Dirk would get booed out of LAIf Kobe and Nash were traded, same thing - and same thing Nash would not do crap for the lakers. And if Kobe and Duncan were traded ...you guessed it.Point is, trade Kobe with any other MVP candidate and the team he would be traded to would no doubt win an NBA championship while the player who was traded to the lakers would suck and the lakers wouldnt even make the playoffs.
5/3/2007 10:56:30 AM
^ Except players like Lebron or Garnett. History has shown that it is extremely unlikely for 1 superstar to win it alone, he has to have another star.
5/3/2007 11:10:36 AM
Kobe and KG would be awesomeGarnett more than any other player in the league I want to see succeedI don't know why but I do
5/3/2007 11:13:25 AM
They were talking about a Bynum for KG trade earlier this season. It would put the Lakers in position to make noise, and give the TWolves a solid base to build for the future.Never happened though.
5/3/2007 11:24:33 AM
AndyMac I didn't mention Lebron or Garnett because they are not legit MVP candidates this year.According to the experts, the MVP candidates are Nash, Nowitzski, Kobe, and Duncan. My point was that none of them could take Kobes spot on the Lakers and do anything with it.And lets compare Kobe to LebronKobe - All NBA 1st team DefenseLebron - doesnt even play defenseKobe - most clutch player in the gameGarnett - chokes in the clutchAnways, I think Kobe needs someone like Dwight Howard or Amare. He just needs One big time post presence. They dont have to score, just play defense and rebound. Actually I bet ALONZO MOURNING would be perfect. If the Lakers had ZO and Zo could actually play ~30 mins a game, they could be a contender.
5/3/2007 11:33:31 AM
5/3/2007 11:42:00 AM
5/3/2007 11:51:14 AM
Why do the NBA experts even vote on this???Namwob already has it done pat. It is MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. If Kobe and Dirk were traded the Mavs whole team would be upset about getting shots. If Kobe and Nash were traded they would rely solely on Barbosa to run the team. Barbosa is a solid player, but not a PG leader that you need.Point is you don't know what would happen if they were traded. But I dare say Nash WOULD help the Lakers and their young players. He WOULD give them a PG which is what the team needs more than anything.
5/3/2007 11:55:20 AM
packboozie, haha your funny. How many shot attempts does Dirk average? But enough talk about offense. That seems like that is the only aspect of basketball anyone in this thread wants to talk about.Kobe plays better defense than Dirk and Nash. I wont say he plays better D than Duncan but they are both intense defenders so thats a push but golly you act like all Kobe wants to do is shoot and take away everyone elses shot attempts.Dont forget the ole Shaq-Kobe formula. Let Shaq get his shots in the 1st and 3rd quarter when hes fresh and then let Kobe close it out in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Put Kobe with Amare or any solid big man and Kobe would have another ring.

So Kobe averages 23 shots a game and Dirk averages 17 - thats about right.I would say if Dirk was on the Lakers instead of Kobe that he too would average around 23 shots a game. But enough arguing with you, packboozie, and all you other Nashlovers/Kobehaters.I have made my point. Kobe for MVP
5/3/2007 12:38:16 PM
I'm not a Nash lover or a Kobe hater.I just actually watch the NBA.But we will agree to disagree.
5/3/2007 12:39:55 PM
Garnett had the best numbers in the regular seasonHell you could argue Marion had better numbers than Nash but I don't hear Shawn Marion for MVP talk
5/3/2007 12:52:33 PM
cept the championships teams were "Jordans" team, The championship Lakers teams were "Shaqs". Sorry, when shaq was on that team he was who the other team set their defensive strategies against And look what just happened to the Lakers
5/4/2007 9:38:00 AM
5/4/2007 10:27:47 AM
sorry man, that was shaq's team. There was never a question on whose team the bulls was.Phil coached both the lakers and the bulls making him void (Kobe didnt win JACK SHIT without Phil Jackson)[Edited on May 4, 2007 at 10:58 AM. Reason : .]
5/4/2007 10:57:36 AM
why even argue thisit was the general manager's team because he put all the parts together
5/4/2007 10:59:30 AM
hey they always start it
5/4/2007 11:02:39 AM
Look, we see that your name is vonjordan and your status is "Air"We understand that no human being will ever live up to your golden god in your eyes.I really have no idea why a discussion about Kobe for MVP always ends up about Jordan, but it's pretty damn stupid.
5/4/2007 11:07:19 AM
I didn't start the comparison; all I did is point out the fact that Kobe is not better than Jordan was [Edited on May 4, 2007 at 11:36 AM. Reason : .]
5/4/2007 11:35:35 AM
i hope after all these years you're not bitter that a certain center from Kansas is the best NBA player ever
5/4/2007 11:41:39 AM
ya right
5/4/2007 2:00:22 PM
did jordan ever score 100 points in a game? is his career rebounding average over 20 rpg? did he ever lead the league in assists? no?Wilt >>>>>>> DT > Kareem > Kobe > Bird > Spud Webb > Vinny Del Negro >>>>>>>>>>> Jordan]
5/4/2007 2:07:45 PM
have you ever watched basketball twista? I mean jeez dude. Not even worth arguing with you. Im sure Wilt would have had those averages if he played the last 20 years I retire from this thread just like jordan did basketball, as the best ever/thread
5/4/2007 3:14:47 PM
5/4/2007 3:18:40 PM
Im sure it was a bitch to block all of those 5 foot white guys
5/4/2007 3:28:12 PM
i'm sure it was hard for jordan to simply copy dr. j and everything he didps: did you miss the part about Wilt LEADING THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS?]
5/4/2007 3:37:22 PM
So what you're telling us, is that players from back in Jordan's day are better than players today. But if you go back farther, then they get worse?
5/4/2007 3:39:25 PM
wilt would not have put up the numbers he did back in the day if he were playing in today's nba. it is foolish to say otherwise.
5/4/2007 3:54:46 PM
you're right...he probably wouldve just averaged 35 ppg and 17 rpg...shitty numbersif Jordan was playing nowadays he wouldnt win any titles...he'd probably be a 19 ppg 4rpg 2apg role player...maybe like a larry hugheslet alone its foolish to try and compare players of different eras in any sport]
5/4/2007 3:59:57 PM
5/4/2007 4:15:08 PM
I just want to point out that in the '01 playoffs Kobe Bryant averaged 29.4 pts, 7.3 reb, 6.1 ast, 1.6 stl, 0.75 blksIt is absolutely ludicrous to state that wasn't "his" championship.I don't recall people taking championships away from Magic Johnson/Larry Bird just because they had Kareem/Worthy and McHale/Parrish on their team.
5/4/2007 4:27:01 PM
5/4/2007 5:17:55 PM
I'm not taking MVP's away from Nash because he has Amare/MarionI'm taking them away because he's consistently not ranked in the top ten in the player efficiency rankings, he is a defensive liability, and he isn't the best player in the league.
5/4/2007 5:27:33 PM
don't misunderstand me about wilt. i know he was a great player...and would be a great player in this era...but 50 ppg and 20+ rpg and leading the league in assists (in separate seasons) are a pipe dream. that was my only point. i would estimate wilt's best year might be around 35 and 15 in today's NBA. great, great season...but nothing unattainable like his number of the past are.[Edited on May 4, 2007 at 5:53 PM. Reason : tense]
5/4/2007 5:52:50 PM
yall need to listen to rallydurhman. he knows what hes talking about. When the Lakers won 3 titles in a row, Shaq was the setup man and Kobe was the closer. Those are just as much Kobe's rings as they are Shaqs. (Much like D Wade carried the Heat when they beat the Mavs last year.)
