Here's a re-up of Okkervil River. I mistakenly left the same name on the file, so we'll see how long this one stays up.hxxp://www.sendspace.com/file/66rxkd

I saw Okkervil River's tour dates, but can't remember where. Anybody know where I can find them? They aren't on their site.

hahaha, some of the kids on Oink reported the guy who posted the John Vanderslice album for having poor quality because they didn't realize that he does everything in analogLOL

The new interpol is good, but it just sounds like a not as good version of Turn on the bright lights. Seems like they could push themselves a little more.

In case none of you have the St. Vincent album, it's still up on http://bolachasgratis.blogspot.com/I highly recommend it.

I cannot stop listening to this Okkervile River record. I listened to it at least 3 times on my way to and from Asheville for the Pumpkins.I think I like this one more than I liked Black Sheep Boy on early listens. Still too early to tell.

Mid-year update:Top Albums:1. Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History In Rust2. Explosions In The Sky - All Of A Sudden, I Miss Everyone3. Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha4. Cloud Cult - The Meaning Of Eight5. National - The BoxerTop Songs:1. Do Make Say Think - A With Living/The Universe! The most famous dichotomy since Yin-Yang exists in these two pieces of music. The first song's train-like drumming and scratching picks up steam throughout the previous four-minutesish: guitars, banging pipes, hi-hats, barely-decipherable voices, piano, and a harmonica flying between both speakers. The most beautiful music I've heard this year arrives at the 3:55 mark and lasting until 4:30. This is when the second chorus climaxes with every instrument joining the harmonies long enough for you feel at peace with the world, existence, living, etc. (at least that's what I got from the lyrics). The rest of the track lulls into complency right before immediatly killing your ears with "The Universe!" Five minutes of instrumental rock that fucking rocks. The crude use of instruments are the exact opposite than those used on the previous track. I guess this would be the Yang.2. Field - A Paw In The Face3. Okkervil River - Unless It Kicks4. Andrew Bird - Scythian Empire5. National - Mistaken For Strangers6. Patrick Wolf - Bluebells7. Apostle Of Hustle - National Anthem Of Nowhere8. Eluvium - Seeing You Off The Edges9. Low - Violent Past10. Cloud Cult - Pretty Voicetop songs: xxx.sendspace.com/file/9hs882

I am most definitely getting my St. Vincent on again. Even though she is likely going to be doing the solo thing, it'd be nice to hear the fleshed out arrangements with drums and such live.
7/8/2007 12:44:14 AM
I'm pretty sure she has 3 other people accompanying her on this tour.

it makes me wonder what you folks would think if you saw a good orchestra perform good music. not some rush-job accompaniment written for a rock band. i know i would enjoy seeing one of my favorite bands accompanied by an orchestra. but really, it's only special because you're familiar with the words and the melodies because you've listened to it over and over. i just wish more people could understand how wonderful a full orchestra can be when you're fully acquainted with the great masterpieces of all time.
7/10/2007 12:56:34 AM
none of us listen to any other kinds of music, of course, and obviously avoid live classical music at all coststhanks for shoving us all in such a small box, we really love it
