13^^^ That was more sarcasism than anything else, but there is some truth in there. He does have health problems and why would we want to hire someone that could possibly be out for a good part of a season? His health risk is higher than the other two. Plus, I don't think (not that my opinion, nor anyone else on tww's, matters) he would be as good a coach as either Fisher or Johnson.[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 3:25 PM. Reason : 13]

What if the lucrative "other top candidate" is Cowher and they cant say anything til the NFL season is over?
12/5/2006 3:45:26 PM
give it up...
12/5/2006 3:46:36 PM
^haha, surely you jest
12/5/2006 3:47:09 PM
As long as its all hear-say, I am not giving up on the Chin. What he said in the interview is alot like what Roy said about UNC before he took that job after the season at Kansas was over....[Edited on December 5, 2006 at 3:49 PM. Reason : Thats why im not our AD]
12/5/2006 3:48:31 PM
Well one of the earlier posts said that Wolfpack officials hoped to hire a new coach by the end of the week. The NFL season doesn't end for several more weeks. So, I doubt Cowher is going to be our coach.
12/5/2006 4:03:06 PM
IT'S A TRAP!
12/5/2006 4:03:36 PM
As much as I would love for the chin to come here, it's extremely doubtful now.Bring on Fisher!

someone call Fowler and tell him to get that package deal right now unless you got cowher waiting...time is precious

12/5/2006 4:55:10 PM
Fisher is in no way "scraps."

whatever happened to Chow's name in the mix? seems like all of the sudden we are fixated on a mediocre Paul Johnson. I mean, Navy seems to have made progress, but who have they been playing???Do we smell another 7 years of chuck-like mediocrity?
12/5/2006 6:23:58 PM
I really think the route to go here is Fisher or Bobby Johnson.
12/5/2006 7:13:48 PM
Please...please pick Fisher. I've wanted him from the beginning (since I knew Cowher wasn't likely) and I really would prefer him greatly over Johnson.Looks like Fowler is afraid to pick an assistant. Which is just dumb. All head coaches have been assistants at some point, and I think Fisher has been around long enough to jump up to the HC positoin. And if he can bring the Auburn DC like he claims, then I don't see what is in question here. FISHER FOR HEAD COACH!
12/5/2006 7:26:25 PM
everyone is talking about PJ bringing discipline...hell... he can't even keep his players clean at NAVY.http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-te.ar.athletes15nov15,0,7582741.story?track=rss
12/5/2006 7:27:30 PM
they're in the NAVY(j/k)
12/5/2006 7:32:07 PM
andro...do you think if that happened at NCSU the paper would give a fuck two years later? it's because it's USNA...it's living under a microscope there...trust me, we had a bad stretch when I was there...one or two people fuck up and it's a huge deal. hell, a couple of kids dropping acid made the front page of the washington post...when was the last time a state student getting busted for pot made the front page of anything?
12/5/2006 7:40:58 PM
excuses excuses.....listen, why don't you guys keep your "paul johnson" paper tiger and we will get the jimbo, the guy who is an offensive guru and deserves a shotpaul johnson is for fags, fags
12/5/2006 8:40:13 PM
Haha, our fanbase trips me out.We were united behind Cowher. No Cowher, so what do we do? We split down the line and are arguing, haha.It seems about 48% want Paul Johnson, 48% want Jimbo Fisher, and the other candidates hold roughly 4% spread around.I'm more focused on the fact that we have 2 solid candidates and I still have a feeling that we'll mess this up because of past occurrences.Hopefully Fowler will get this right and at least choose between Fisher and Johnson.Personally I want Fisher because of the many pluses he brings, but Johnson is 2nd on my list. The fact that a bunch of washed-up and recently fired coaches are on our list bother me. This should be a 2-horse race, Fisher vs. Johnson.

12/5/2006 8:46:32 PM
So Cutcliffe is not a candidate now? I was hoping we could get him from my #2 team UT. He is a better offensive mind than Fisher. Oh well.
12/5/2006 8:47:22 PM
wouldn't it be interesting if we hired fisher, and then Duke hired PJ in the next year or so. Tobacco Road would be a football force in a matter of years and the triangle would become the mecca of all college revenue sports talk about competition

welcome to the 1950's in basketball
12/5/2006 9:08:20 PM
^^^just because packpride isn't listing him doesn't mean he's not being considered. it's still too early to be using sad faces.
12/5/2006 9:12:31 PM
cutcliffe doesnt really have an impressive track recordi mean really
12/5/2006 9:44:39 PM
my money is on PJ or O'Brien from BC. hearing his name(o'brien) a lot lately.
12/6/2006 9:38:39 AM
David Glenn on 620 the Bull just mentioned that Jimbo Fisher had an interview scheduled, but NC State CANCELLED it. No reason why, but it sounds like hes off the list. Very disappointing.[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 9:45 AM. Reason : -]
12/6/2006 9:41:54 AM
^he said that was an indication that we found who we're looking for (paul johnson).I'd like to see O'brian here after consistently fielding good teams @ BC[Edited on December 6, 2006 at 9:46 AM. Reason : .]
12/6/2006 9:45:35 AM
Well, yeah, most likely thats what it means, but really that was Glenns speculation.I hope we arent dumb enough to cancel an interview with someone until we get a contract signed...we had 3-4 "done deals" back in April and we know how that turned out.
12/6/2006 9:49:39 AM
also, i thought the whole point of hiring the "search agency" was to prevent leaks like that.
12/6/2006 9:51:46 AM
if Dave Glenn's report is the truth, Fowler should be canned now. How the hell can you not at least sit down and hear what these other people say.
12/6/2006 9:52:32 AM
well, dont have a premium subscription, but it was implied on pack pride that there is a new name in the mix?
12/6/2006 9:58:22 AM
