Slight update to my DX issue:Still boots into Safe Mode. I did as much researching on the issue as I could stomach, said fuck it, and did a hard reset. The fucker still boots into safe mode. What, the fuck.

How long have you had it? Take that ish back to Verizon.
6/21/2011 8:34:44 AM
Since January.Pain in my ass.
6/21/2011 10:28:04 AM
Should still be under warranty. Just march back there and tell them the update screwed up your phone or something.

Other than the manufacturer, it's not really much different than the Xoom. Still runs Honeycomb and for excel you'd need to use something like quick office or documents to go which have their limitations.
6/21/2011 3:33:37 PM
Spreadsheets are brutal on a touch interface
6/21/2011 4:21:08 PM
I agree and can see why, though for the most part it would be for doing "fill in the blank" calculations for formulas or referencing spreadsheets of data.Plus I think this is as good excuse as any to get one
6/21/2011 4:24:03 PM
I have a xoom wifi, I like it... I'd probably go for galaxy tab if i had to do it over again
6/21/2011 4:59:13 PM
I watched a youtube review of the asus transformer and I think I'm sold just by the tech guy admitting that it doesn't need rooting out of the box and that websites automatically load in desktop mode.Plus he said it is smoother than the Xoom, which I was leaning strong towards at first.Galaxy Tab is too small for my interests

I see your battery already sucks ^^But seriously, my Evo battery sucks.
6/22/2011 10:34:16 AM
I'm guessing he probably hasn't really charged it yet since he said it was showing as shipped late last night.
6/22/2011 10:38:46 AM
Oh, yeah that was the partial charge it shipped with. Hopefully @cyanogenmod is hard at work and I'll be curious to see what @mackgk1 does with Matted Blues once his is delivered.I've become accustomed to CM7 and I was an avid Sense user in the past. 3.0 would have to be a complete game changer to get me to stay.

Two questions: Can you use an Android phone without a sim card/activating the phone? I know with iPhones you can just pop them into airplane mode and you're good to go -- just want to make sure that's the case. Also, I know that there are apps that will let you download normal Google Maps to the phone -- does whatever app that is (or another app) have the bike paths in it as well?My end game here is to use an Android as a "GPS" for a bicycle, but without a data plan -- so basically just a digital map.

1) pretty sure yes- i use my old droid as a wifi storage locker2) let me research #2[Edited on June 23, 2011 at 10:40 AM. Reason : re-read Ø]
6/23/2011 10:39:16 AM
so there isn't going to be a good 4G device before this tiered data pricing, is there?
6/23/2011 4:57:42 PM
6/23/2011 5:08:18 PM
You don't have to activate Sprint devices to use them. WiFi works fine without 3G. I think emergency dialing and *2 will work as well.
6/23/2011 5:38:30 PM
lol motorola pwnthttp://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/23/motorola-atrix-bootloader-can-now-be-unlocked/
6/23/2011 10:11:12 PM
Awesome. Thanks for the information, guys. Now I just need to find someone who is willing to part with their (preferably AT&T) Android phone for a reasonable price.
6/23/2011 10:35:09 PM
Why does it have to be att if you don't want to activate it?
6/24/2011 12:40:16 AM
It all sort of depends. There's a chance it might get activated, but no guarantee, so I wanted to make sure it would do what I was looking for whether activated or not.It still doesn't have to be AT&T, that's just an "if I had my choice; that's what I'd get" thing.
6/24/2011 12:45:47 AM
Someone correct me if im wrong, but I thought our GPS apps still needed a network (wifi or 3g) to download the maps because they are not stored on the device like a regular GPS. when I lose signal on the road my map disappears from my GPS app.
6/24/2011 8:55:32 AM
Yeah, he'll need to buy one of the apps that has offline maps. Believe the current version of google maps caches your route so it should still keep going if you go through somewhere with no service. Believe it's been mentioned that they're thinking about including offline maps with google maps in the future also.

trying to decide if i should pick up a thunderbolt for $200 and unlimited data for $24/month (corporate discount) and a new 2-year contract......or pick up a droid or something off craigslist, get unlimited data, and hold out for the bionic (or whatever dual-core, AMOLED screen, android phone will come out soon, i hope)thoughts?
6/24/2011 9:27:31 AM
I dont understand all the hate for the droid charge early on. Solid device.

just got a evo3d. this is my first android phone. Any recommendation for a good app to make ring tone?
6/24/2011 10:11:20 PM
myxer.com used to be the goto place for that, but this was back when it was 3gupload.com I haven't used a ringtone app in ages. I rock vibrate or a subtle ring ring ring.I want the BBold_electrical ring though, it's like normalring normalring normalring, higherpitched ring higherpitched ring.
6/24/2011 10:44:13 PM
To use an mp3, ringdroid
6/24/2011 10:55:51 PM

6/25/2011 11:17:21 AM
my Droid2 Global has always been like this, but when you have it plugged into USB in 'Charge only' mode, the unlock swipe is slow and in general the touch screen is less responsive than when unplugged...if plugged into wall charger or car charger, this doesn't happen, only when plugged into USB, even though its Charge Onlyanyone else experience this, or is it isolated to the D2G?
6/25/2011 11:10:57 PM
I would get that every so often on my Evo. Never could quite figure out what was going on.
6/26/2011 7:22:17 AM
any of you root a thunderbolt and if so, did you use cyanogenmod?
6/26/2011 2:58:23 PM
I'm rooted but haven't tried CM. Been running custom roms based on the Gingerbread leak for the Thunderbolt. Currently using das BAMF Sense 3.0 RC3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140967
