b/c he played point his senior year of HSand fwiw if you watch those videos you do NOT come away thinking he could play PG at a D1 level. He did develop some skills there and I think that experience will be big for him in college but he would get eaten alive at PG in college. He might be a better "oh shit" PG than Gavin Grant was, I'll give you that

I liked when Gavin always pulled out the X .... like the X on the Jamaican flag if you havent figured it out yet

Harrow is playing in the World Basketball Tourny in France. I don't know if he played the first game, but the US team got beat by Puerto Rico. The caveat is that this is Puerto Rico's U19 team and they've got 2 D-I guys playing whereas the US team are mostly 16-17 yr olds and they were just thrown together. Two of Ryan's other Atlanta Celtics teammates are with him and in a few videos he's reppin NCState in the Paris Subway. I guess some kid named Mike Rosario who plays at Rutgers or some place like that, lit it up for 33. Close game it sounded like which just shows you how good US basketball players are, i imagine like Brazillian futbol.http://highschoolhoop.com

^^I would if I knew he had a badass one coming soon. And I agree Javi really turned a corner last year. If he improves as much from his soph to jr year as he did from his frosh to soph year, he'll be all-ACC

alright, if I have to go to statistics to refresh you people's memory I will:New Orleans game: 23 minutes, 1 point, 2 TOsWinthrop game: 23 minutes, 0 pts, 1 TODavidson game: 26 minutes, 3pts. 7 TOsWinston Salem State game: 26 minutes, 7 pts, 5 TOs then after the ECU game he got benched for like a month

Oh no. Stats prove everything. Do you even remember the Winthrop game? 1 of the turnovers was Javi hustling to save a ball going out of bounds and he ended up throwing it out of bounds anyway. so he got the TO but only because he was hustling for the ball in the first place. So 1 real TO in 23 mins? I'll take that any night. Get out of here with your stats.[Edited on June 11, 2009 at 2:25 PM. Reason : df]

i wish people would stop trying to rationalize the fact that javi sucksi dont know how theyve done it but they somehow forgot that he was the WORST PLAYER ON THE TEAM early in the season and got benched until like halfway into ACC playand even when he came back, he wasnt good. Anyone who thinks he can be a good PG at any point must not watch any college basketball other than NC State b/c theyve obviously not seen an actual good PG in decades. He might be average this year. Might
6/11/2009 3:32:15 PM
he was great at the end of the season, relatively speaking
6/11/2009 3:53:37 PM
to me, the biggest problem with our pgs last year was that even when they had "good" games they didn't really get the rest of the team involved. (or maybe the team didn't care to get involved idk) sure we had some games where our PGs had like 15+ points and shot lights out, but i don't remember any of them having more than like 4 assists. (i could be way off) i'm not saying that to be a good pg you need to average a double double, but in my personal opinion all of our pgs could do a better job distributing the ball.

^^^also gotta remember that lolskates was on the floor most of the time, along with a hurt, shitty bball IQ fells. Not saying they cant improve cause they should but that does factor into some of the crappiness. [Edited on June 11, 2009 at 4:14 PM. Reason : ^]

the stupid in this thread is incredible. Javi did not get benched he got injured. Remember he knocked out that Young guys teeth and had a laceration on his arm. Also he had multiple 5-6 assist games (he averaged 3.3 assists) so he was getting others involved. Early in the season he had a 7 assist no turnover game (UNC-G). I do agree he was capable of getting into a funk and having a terrible game (Virginia). I think he will do better on what hopefully will be a more fast paced team. He always seemed to want to push the pace and a lot of his turnovers came from players not keeping up with him.

To me, Tracy Smith and Javi Gonzalez stepped up BIG TIME last year. They were State's best & most consistent contributors down the stretch, and honestly... if anyone that says different then I would openly question just how many games that person actually watched. Smith stepped up and became the go-to post player. I love McCauley b/c he's a fun guy to watch and the effort is always there, but he wasn't producing and State really had no other options down low. Javi in turn stepped up as the clear starter at the point. His FG% shot up, he handled the ball reasonable well, reduced the # of his classic "boneheaded TOs" and even started driving the lane successfully. Few players have impressed me more by making such drastic improvement over the course of a single season.I'm not a bball expert, but to me Javi's ceiling is not high enough to make think he could be an All-ACC caliber player. He's made a lot of improvement, but he's also Ty Lawson's size for pete sake. He doesn't have ACC-caliber speed and doesn't have the sheer talent to take the game over when needed. About all Javi can do is continue to learn the game and work on his jumper. Then he can at least be like Atsur was to State 3 years ago - a dependable distributor that will take care of the ball, run the offense, and occasionally have a hot night.I applaud Javi for stepping up and showing an incredible amount of improvement, but I'm certainly not going to expect that he'll make even a remotely similar leap next year. That's just an incredibly unreasonable expectation to place upon the guy.18, 9, 8, 11, 5, 19, 5 (only 16 min)
