i dont have root anymore ... must be why the swype update failed on my DX
6/14/2011 4:51:44 PM
^ you can SBF then get the .596 pre-rooted build from TBH to fix.
6/14/2011 4:52:35 PM
My next handset will not only rock this year's flagship hardware it's fucking 3D (gimmick or not) and because my current device held its value so well I'm only out 50 bucks. . What exactly are you looking for in a phone?
6/14/2011 5:02:10 PM
yeah, i feel like SBFing is like when I kept trying to learn poker...unless i played for like a week straight I could never remember the rulesi almost bricked my phone the last time i tried to SBF it, but now that Verizon has on file that I got their OTA gingerbread update, i can probably root again w/o getting on their mysterious list of rooted users (what are they gonna do w/ that anyway)[Edited on June 14, 2011 at 5:56 PM. Reason : of course i have learned poker by now at least though lol]
6/14/2011 5:48:54 PM
Browser of choice?Need recommendations.
6/14/2011 10:49:16 PM
I'll try skyfire and dolphinhd again every couple of months but I always end up back with the stock gingerbread browser.
6/14/2011 10:52:39 PM
I like Dolphin
6/14/2011 10:55:19 PM
dolphin HD and gestures are great
6/14/2011 11:16:43 PM
Dolphin for me
6/14/2011 11:31:14 PM
OK, cool. I've been using Dolphin since I got the phone, and I love the gestures. Was just wondering if anything better was out there.
6/14/2011 11:31:42 PM
same as grandmaster...back to stock for quick app startup timing.
6/15/2011 2:10:49 AM
^^^^^^^My favorite browser for Android is Opera Mobile. The main reason for this is that it is hardware accelerated, and therefore runs a 60fps a great majority of the time. All the other software-rendered WebKit browsers usually degrade to 30fps on all but the simplest pages.
6/15/2011 5:43:48 AM
i like dolphin mini.dolphinhd was always slow/laggy for me (on DX).
6/15/2011 8:59:23 AM
anyone have any advice on this?
6/15/2011 10:21:03 AM

6/15/2011 1:32:53 PM

6/15/2011 1:41:53 PM
thanks grandmaster
6/15/2011 3:18:52 PM
^ np, did they replace it without a deductible?
6/15/2011 3:39:57 PM
for anyone having those GPS issues on an EVO after flashing, use this ZIP file to fix (works like a charm!)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14534313&postcount=2478
6/16/2011 1:43:43 PM
Engadget's EVO3D review is so dumb. No kickstand? DEDUCT A POINTOnly 14hr battery life with every radio enabled? DEDUCT A POINT1080p mode seemingly locked out and photographs not comparable to those shot with a $800 DSLR? DEDUCT A POINT!!
6/16/2011 6:17:12 PM
^Engadget is on Apple's nuts pretty hard, its definitely more evident on some articles than others.
6/16/2011 8:46:53 PM
So I'm thinking about buying a tablet today for my birthday next week. I am down to the ASUS eee Pad Transformer, Acer Iconia and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Right now I think the 10.1 is in the lead because of the weight factor and I just like the looks of it. Does anyone have any of the three and what do they think of them?
6/17/2011 8:47:53 AM
Can anyone tell me what this app is? I just traded my Epic for an Evo and got an extended battery. Want to do some testing.
6/17/2011 9:21:00 AM
So I decided I'd go with the Transformer tablet. You can get it at Tigerdirect in Durhamif looking one. It is quite awesome!
6/17/2011 5:25:44 PM
^If you do, it was $25 off the other day at Amazon iirc. Might want to do that vs. tax at TD.
6/17/2011 6:06:50 PM
Amazon wants 430 for it. So I paid a 1.99 I think it was to have it in hand today. Not too bad when all was said and done. Awesome, awesome tablet.
6/18/2011 1:05:15 AM
^^^Had the Transformer for about a month now; posting this with it. So far I'm loving it. Wish the charger wasn't proprietary though - probably the biggest disappointment.
6/18/2011 1:10:04 AM
^^Turns out I was wrong. It was actually at TD But it was through their eBay portal. $475 including Klipsch headphones and an 8 GB card.
6/18/2011 3:17:49 PM
The gf is getting a new phone. I haven't kept up with phones in a long time. She's looking at HTC Thunderbolt, Droid X2, and verizon iphone 4 (I know, wrong thread). Any advice?
6/19/2011 5:12:29 AM
@ibnuts- believe that's part of Gingerbread. If you go to Settings-About Phone-Battery-Battery Use and then hit the little graph at the top, it'll show that screen.
6/19/2011 9:45:23 AM
^^On Verizon I like the Thunderbolt.
6/19/2011 11:36:25 AM
It begins...http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/20/exclusive-tiered-data-plans-headed-to-verizon-july-7-packages-start-at-30-for-2gb/
6/20/2011 12:42:57 PM
Fuck.That.
6/20/2011 12:44:56 PM
holy shit that's expensive. i guess that means if i'm gonna use my upgrade, do so by july 7th huh
6/20/2011 1:06:57 PM
6/20/2011 1:11:50 PM
the way that reads it says new customers and possibly renewals. better to upgrade before july 7th than find out on july 8th that you missed out. that is unless verizon specifically says renewals are safe but even then i would need to hear a renewal from 3g to 4g is still covered.
6/20/2011 1:19:57 PM
the problem w/ upgrading is you can choose to go with a newer 3G device and be stuck on that tech. or go with one of several half-assed LTE devices they currently sell and be stuck with that.or just pay full retail and be out $500-700
6/20/2011 2:20:01 PM
I'm under contract with unlimited data for another 18 months or soAt that point, I'll probably see how much data I use over the air versus over wifi, and if its less than 3 gigs a month, I'll just switch to the 2GB/$20 plan...if its more than 3 gigs a month, I'll switch to Sprint
6/20/2011 2:28:18 PM
^^ i have an OG droid, i'm sure whatever half-assed LTE device they have will seem like christmas came early
6/20/2011 3:08:00 PM
You may be right.
6/20/2011 3:31:45 PM
@pttyndal Thanks![Edited on June 20, 2011 at 5:30 PM. Reason : ;]
6/20/2011 5:30:33 PM
just got a 24 in Jenga, classic mode
6/20/2011 7:10:04 PM
my DX keeps booting into safe mode. how do i stop this?
6/20/2011 7:23:47 PM
I called verizon and they confirmed you can grandfather unlimited 3g to unlimited 3g, unlimited 4g to unlimited 4g, but would be unable to grandfather unlimited 3g to unlimited 4g...even though theyre the same price. While I more than understand the logic there, its some real bee-ess.Sigh galaxy s2. Will you be 4g? Will you?
6/20/2011 8:55:48 PM
6/20/2011 9:16:20 PM
the samsung charge has been a damn nice phone so far 4g has actually been kinder to the battery than a weak 3g signal
