(Of course, it was his coach who said it). http://hawkcentral.com/2012/01/25/iowa-offers-football-scholarship-to-robert-caldwell/. And I did prove you wrong. You stated "We're not favored for any more remaining players". But we are. We'll see if we land him. Lol at you asking people to be "realistic". [Edited on January 28, 2012 at 1:51 PM. Reason : ]

Boobs,Have you watched ANY of these recruits in person?
1/28/2012 1:40:21 PM
Boobs is like the Todd McShay of college football recruiting. He watches and breaks down tape of every high school football player in the country.
1/28/2012 1:49:02 PM
In all fairness if the guy was such a great prospect Iowa wouldn't be dropping him/he wouldn't be falling into our lap.]
1/28/2012 1:52:35 PM
Because recruiting analysts certainly get to fully evaluate every single prep football player in the entire country...Because your ecruiting rankings are sure are a great indicator of where your team will finish at the end of the year...Some of y'all put way too much stock in this. I guarantee you TOB isn't using Rivals to determine what players he needs to go after. I agree that we do need to start getting more 4* and 5* coming here, but I feel like, top to bottom, this is one of the more solid classes we've had in a while and we have some big talent on our board for 2013. We can start pickin up major groud with in-state recruiting now that the snake oil salesman is out at THE UNC and if we can move to the SEC, that'll be a huge factor in tryin to keep this NC talent close to home.[Edited on January 28, 2012 at 2:20 PM. ^Wow. Calm the fuck down. Dead horse is dead. I was simply chiming in on the little "top juco lb in the country" spat. Wait, never mind. I read your entire post. You're an idiot. ]
1/28/2012 1:57:58 PM
^that's really not a spat, i just said "supposedly the best" to rile boobs, while proving him wrong.Serious question: Are there any 4 or 5* recruits who didn't attend at least several camps and combines? I'm willing to bet that the recruiting services probably have very few recruits (if any) ranked as 4/5*s who didn't have the money/time to attend the camps. Unlike basketball, there are many, many football players who fly under the radar (dead horse is very beaten).(and it seems that Iowa decided to use their last scholly to recruit a JuCo RB, per the article on the previous page) [Edited on January 28, 2012 at 2:08 PM. ^^don't be a boob, hey nowi wasn't even talking to you
1/28/2012 2:08:44 PM
^^Of course not all the best kids attend the camps or get highly rated. But, teams full of 4 and 5 star kids win the national title every year, not the other way around. It matters at the highest level. Not necessarily at our level (Gator/Peach Bowl at best type programs). I'm very happy with the direction TOB has us headed in, because I have realistic expectations. ^We're good. ]
1/28/2012 2:10:50 PM
Again, nobody's arguing that a 2/3*s are preferred over 4/5*s. I'd much rather have a class of 4/5*s. They're more likely to have impacts on their team. I just realize that the way football recruiting rankings are done, being a 2/3* doesn't necessarily mean they won't go on to excel in college, or at least be solid players. I know some of you disagree, but I think the staff has proven that they have have the ability to find underrated talent that they can coach into decent college players. I wish they'd get more 4/5*s, but let's be realistic, TOB isn't the type of coach to court and pander to a lot of those recruits that have lots of hype behind them. Maybe our next coach will, but for now, I'm content with what the staff is doing and the results they're getting.

something about walking on to the Bball team.
1/28/2012 3:27:11 PM
Losing Summers isn't all that sad. We've got plenty of depth at QB, especially with Thomas and Stocker coming in this year. Sure, it'd be great if he was using his athleticism for us at WR or Safety, but it's not a huge loss. Losing Jones would suck, but then again, he's only a 3*! Stop being such a negative boob.
1/28/2012 3:29:55 PM
Okay look at the teams in each category. Besides Stanford's recent success, the rest of those teams in the 5 up haven't done shit. Now look at the 5 down. They are big time football schools. Do you think they care about a stupid class ranking, or are going to drop down to Rutgers' level? We could have a bunch of midgets out there and I wouldn't care provided we continue to win. We are poised to win at least 8 games, maybe more next season, and get a 6th straight win against UNC. Some analysts even have us in their early Top 25. That is a welcome change considering where we were in the mid to late 2000s.

^^ its really easy to say that as it not my job and you add no value by offering nothing but an impossible scenario where i would evaluate every prospect in the country and rank them accordingly. The people who get paid to do that have put out their findings which say we have the 10th or 11th best recruiting class in the ACC. I think it would be great to have a top 25 , top 10 recruiting class, it's more exposure for the program. you get talked about in local new papers and on ESPN. But as long as we continue to make positive steps on the field and win 8-10 games a year. i'll be happy. the problem is when the starters, the experienced guys, get injured there is no "star" football player (or highly rated FR, RF, SO) on the team that can use their super athletic ability to overcome their lack of experience. So, that position(s) really drops off. And that is what has happened the last few years.
1/30/2012 4:15:20 PM
^ I agreeand also it looks like boobs is bored at work or something today. The Bullet dude is annoying though
1/30/2012 4:27:58 PM
We didn't do that bad when our starter got hurt and we sent in the 2nd team guy. It's when *that* guy also got hurt that it started to be a problem.
1/30/2012 4:28:07 PM
I guess the disappointment stems from growing up around a highly successful program(not ncsu obv) We have all the externals to be successful. ^^^^When amato was in town.
