I just played Avatar for about 5 minutes. That's about all I could take. It looks, feels and plays like a very mediocre Nintendo 64 platformer.

Either way, stuff like this happens, deliberately or not. One of the largest carriers in the nation should be able to handle it without problem though. And they can't. That's the real problem.
12/16/2009 9:04:27 AM
I guess i'm one of the lucky customers. Still haven't noticed a problem. After spending two weeks in the UK I was glad to get back. The 3g sucks over there (it's really slow) and I actually got dropped calls and areas of no signal when switching towers. Get none of that over here.

Anyone else tried out the bing app?All I can say is Looks gorgeous, silky smooth, love the search+image+suggestions, maps works well, voice search seems pretty good. This is light years better than google's mobile app. And the fact that it loads webpages inline is a HUGE win for me. Just for that, it's replaced Safari on my bottom dock.Bing iPhone App - bing communityiTunes AppStore Link
12/16/2009 2:09:25 PM
The image search alone is much better than google. I'm liking it so far.
12/16/2009 3:32:55 PM
^^I don't see why you would replace safari though...i mean it doesn't seem to be a web browser replacement...just a search engine. Unless thats what you use your browser on your phone for more often than not.
12/16/2009 3:43:49 PM
^ I have three bookmarks in safari.75%+ of my use in Safari is just to get to the google search box. Comparing google search in safari to bing search in the bing app is night and day. The things I look for on my phone (food, events, trivia, directions, businesses) are 1000 times easier to do now.
12/16/2009 4:30:52 PM
I just bought Inglorious Bastards yesterday and it told me to download pocket Blu for my iPhone...which i did...now all of a sudden without any configurations its controlling my PS3 as a remote control?
12/16/2009 5:23:00 PM
Today we are all paid spokespersons for Microsoft.Oh wait, no that's just Noen.
12/16/2009 5:23:19 PM
Just switched to beejive from nimbuzz. Totally worth it. Keeps you logged in for up to 7 days and doesn't have to reconnect every time you open the app. With the notifications it basically runs in the background, and when you click "view" from a notification the app opens instantly. Pretty neat.
12/17/2009 11:48:35 AM
^does it cost $dollarbucks?
12/17/2009 11:53:28 AM
Well i mean i didn't pay for it, wanted to try it out first before i bought it, but it's $10. Think i'm actually going to buy it though. Totally worth it.
12/17/2009 11:57:12 AM
how did u get it without paying for it? or is your phone jailbroken?
12/17/2009 11:59:59 AM
It would appear so...
12/17/2009 12:02:28 PM
OMG THIEVERY!!1!(ibtnoen)
12/17/2009 12:35:44 PM
I just bought it. Totally worth it.
12/17/2009 12:37:46 PM
you can't rectify the fact that you STOLE software, ok?!?
12/17/2009 1:17:06 PM
It's not stealing if you buy it afterwords.
12/17/2009 1:31:48 PM
so if i steal a carbut then go buy the same carit's ok?haha, totally kididng.
12/17/2009 2:18:49 PM
more like..I stole a condom...it worked and i didn't get AIDs....I went back and paid for it.
12/17/2009 2:34:49 PM
^do you find that happening alot?
12/17/2009 4:12:21 PM
They finally ported Halo to the iPhone. For some reason they managed to steal everything except for the name though, so you have to search for N.O.V.A in order to find it. But it's pretty fun.
12/18/2009 3:01:52 PM
after reading this thread I decided to download the bing appthe image search results display is on point without a doubtanother app I downloaded today is called "Dragon Dictation"allows you to speak text then automatically copies the text to easily send in a text message..plus its free definetly worth trying
12/19/2009 12:19:38 AM
I broke down and bought the us version of tomtom last weekend, tested it this week (i drive a lot) works great, I was quite surprised. Would be nice if it didn't exit out during phone calls though.
12/19/2009 9:53:46 AM
So my 3g hasn't been working since this morning. No matter what i do, reset, reset network settings, airplane mode on/off it will only show up full bars on edge. Anyone experienced this before? Hoping it's an at&t problem and not my phone. Might just be a dead area.
12/19/2009 12:47:59 PM
where you at? full bars of 3g in Cary right now
12/19/2009 2:03:04 PM
Charlotte. Called at&t. Said they were having some network issues. Hopefully it'll cut back in.
12/19/2009 2:17:31 PM
3G service in downtown Charlotte is really bad. I've reported it using the "mark the spot" app but who knows if that will help.
12/19/2009 3:59:10 PM
Thnks for recomending bing.app. It's bangin, I'm in construction all overthe place so the resturant lookup alone is worth the space.
12/20/2009 9:36:32 AM
heh even SNL is making jokes about at&t service now
12/20/2009 9:38:00 PM
I really like the bing app, the maps/nav is Better than google
12/21/2009 8:07:04 AM
I just got my iPhone Saturday.I've already got 56 apps on it. And I guess i should try bing as well. This thing has already taken over 90% of my internet usage. It's beginning to make me feel a bit like Gollum. Is that normal in the first week?[Edited on December 22, 2009 at 1:52 AM. Reason : Haven't quite mastered the keyboard]
12/22/2009 1:51:11 AM
I've just spent the last hour or so playing Smash Bros, Mario 64, and Mario Kart 64. On my iPhone. With a wii controller hooked up through bluetooth. At first I thought it would be gimmicky, but it actually is a lot of fun.
12/22/2009 2:52:32 AM
Are you fucking serious? I'm totally doing that tomorrow.
12/22/2009 3:52:48 AM
now that sounds pretty awesome
12/22/2009 8:42:40 AM
So, what are the good reasons not to jailbreak my iPhone?

wow. how in the fuck does apple get of marketing the hell out of a cell phone that doesn't do half the shit that every other phone on the market does? Really? they just released MMS for the iPhone in June? My phone from five years ago has that. No video recorder until recently? My phone from five years ago does that. No voice recorder until recently? My phone from five years ago does that. No copy and paste until recently? My phone from five years ago does that. No voice commands? My mom's phone from five years ago does that.I almost bought an iPhone, then I read a review. I was, needless to say, fucking shocked. Maybe Apple should spend less on marketing and more on product development.]
12/26/2009 11:05:02 PM
my iphone has lots of voice commands...it's just a regular locked 3gs.and welcome to last june/last year/a long time ago i guess. why you gettin so riled up about this now?oh, and the reason it's done so well is that it does a shit ton of other things that your phone from 5 years ago and last week does not do.[Edited on December 26, 2009 at 11:18 PM. Reason : ]
12/26/2009 11:16:32 PM
^^you're an idiot. they revolutionized the phone market with their FIRST phone. everyone else is still catching up.
12/26/2009 11:18:15 PM
funny how everyone thinks they're an expert on how Apple should be run.... last I checked, they have about $50 billion in the bank and their stock is up 120% since they announced the first iPhone
12/26/2009 11:56:56 PM
12/26/2009 11:59:14 PM
i guess you've never actually used one then, or the overall user experience of a smartphone doesn't count much for you
12/27/2009 12:01:58 AM
I guess you don't consider doing what every one else can already do as a bare minimum for being "revolutionary."
12/27/2009 12:12:26 AM
once again, you fail to take in the experience of using the device
12/27/2009 12:15:39 AM
once again, you fail to take in the experience of not being able to do the basic things that phones five years older than it can do.
12/27/2009 12:18:53 AM
well it can now, so what's your problem. And the surges in iPhone sales after each version has been released indicates that people who cannot live without certain features (MMS, GPS) have simply waited until a version comes out that suits their needs. The current 3GS models obviously have enough features to satisfy a lot of people.
