Anyone have a good coupon app for Android? As in, open it, search for a coupon, get said coupon, and show it to the cashier? I've tried "The Coupon App" or w/e (really popular one) but it only shows online deals from what I've seen, unless I'm having a real herp derp mode whenever I open it.

Anyone do the Virgin Mobile deal? Might be too good to be true (they could up their prices at any time), but I'm thinking about doing it for 25$ a month.
5/29/2011 8:00:28 AM
^^that actually looks pretty sweet
5/29/2011 10:07:04 AM
jaZon - do you remember where you downloaded the update from? i tried to manually update it last night and whatever i downloaded didn't work and now im afraid to keep trying random websites in fear of bricking my phone.

do i need to unroot my phone to install a system update (not an Android update)?
5/29/2011 4:53:51 PM
it's advised that if you use a stock system update, that you do it from a stock system.if a system update was pushed, give it a bit, someone will get a rooted copy out.
5/29/2011 5:44:43 PM
I'm on stock 2.2, no ROM, just rootedI dont think the update is gonna do anything though, probably just wait until a new version of the Android OS comes out to worryseems like the Droid 2 Global gets the shaft on all the updates relative to other droids
5/29/2011 7:34:01 PM
I'm thinking about it. I did.

My wife lost her iPhone ... but now she's finally considering an Android phone and will join me on Sprint. Recommendations? I'm looking at getting her one of these: - Nexus S 4G from Google - HTC Evo Shift 4G - Samsung Epic 4GIs there another I should be considering? Thoughts on those? Thanks all.
5/29/2011 10:16:55 PM
Hands down Nexus S
5/29/2011 10:18:29 PM
<3 my nexus
5/30/2011 10:45:25 AM
Nexus S if you have to buy right nowEvo3D if you've got some timeI find chicks like Sense based phones for some reason...
5/30/2011 11:30:47 AM
I hope Verizon gets a nexus device....
5/30/2011 1:57:12 PM
vote for the nexus 4g here as well...great device, one question though, anyone that has juice defender installed having issues with 4g working, mine is continuously disconnected when both jd and 4g are enabled
5/30/2011 9:53:19 PM
my only gripe at the moment is the battery life. i want to get a bigger battery but doesn't that break NFC?
5/30/2011 10:15:59 PM
I was hoping to root/reimage my Evo soon...Question though, will all my app/game be "backed up" if I move the apps to the SD card...or is it more of an app by app thing?
5/30/2011 10:16:10 PM
^^NFC?^I'd recommend Titanium Backup, however that requires rootWhy do you need to reimage it?
5/30/2011 10:26:09 PM
near field communication.not exactly important now, but hopefully somewhat useful when they put out google wallet for all users
5/30/2011 10:27:34 PM
Where do you plan on using Google Wallet with NFC?
5/30/2011 10:56:48 PM
My amex already has nfc. The problem is, some of the terminals that read these things don't always work, and you have to swipe your card. Leaving you shit out of luck, if you just have the card number stored on your phone.I've yet to find any real advantage to the nfc set up. I guess when you can access multiple cards on one device, limiting what you need to carry... but I already addressed back up issues. For me though, taking my phone out, opening the app, entering my pin, selecting my card, etc. Is far more cumbersome than grabbing my wallet and holding it over the terminal. I did like that Google wallet is using stickers, too. Because I'd totally stick it on the back of my phone for the quick run in and grab a case of beer purchases. There's no added steps to that, and i can leave my wallet in the car if I'm in gym shorts or something.
5/30/2011 11:04:51 PM
wonder if eventually there will be some legal battle over being able to store your driver's license on your smartphone
5/30/2011 11:11:26 PM
5/30/2011 11:11:45 PM
That would be golden, because I hate having to carry my I'd and my credit card to buy beer
5/30/2011 11:30:50 PM
i mean if as soon as some more phones add it, like iphone, it'll pop up quicker than you think
5/30/2011 11:56:11 PM
I've found most gas stations have it inside, as well as most drug stores.
5/31/2011 12:23:12 AM
5/31/2011 12:41:46 AM
you should be able to root pretty much any phone with stock OS
5/31/2011 1:08:50 AM
Sounds like Droid 3 may be released soon. I think this will be my next phone, i'm upgrade eligible in august... but I really do want lte and a keyboard... and no locked boot loader. And i want my cake and i want to eat it too.I think my mom will get this phone though, so I can at least have a chance to play around with it before i bite the bullet. Maybe news of a device I really want will come out by august...

5/31/2011 2:16:52 PM
How does HTC owe royalties to Microsoft because of Android?
5/31/2011 5:11:32 PM
patent infringement with their multi-touch technology, iirc.dont cite me on that, though.[Edited on May 31, 2011 at 6:34 PM. Reason : also, i think it's like $5 a phone they sell ]
5/31/2011 6:34:06 PM
Got the wife a Nexus S 4G ... sweet piece of gear. She keeps asking for me to give it back, haha. She's happy with the simplicity of the main screen on this phone, compared to the (IMO) overburdened interfaces of Sense and Galaxy S. Not that they are bad, but she doesn't like a lot going on either, much like the screen on her iPhone. Although she's still getting used to it (and becoming less frustrated with something new by the day), she finally admitted to someone that this phone has some really cool features that her iPhone did not. I'll take that as a win!
5/31/2011 8:25:39 PM
God dammit, netflix shut down on DROID x...unless someone knows where to get an up to date api that removes device checking
6/1/2011 12:21:03 AM
