We got Owino? Nice. I haven't seen it reported, but it's showing up on his scout and rivals profile page as a verbal to NCSU.[Edited on January 17, 2012 at 7:22 PM. Reason : ]

yea owino's oursthink he tried to commit over the weekend but we wanted to make sure all the transcripts checked out since he's from overseascan't just let him in without checking anything like the community college 20 minutes down the road...

kid's got some nice film, he's chasing guys all over the placehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbEeLhv6ghY

Definitely passes the look test. He's got the extra gear that's crucial for pass-rushers.I read somewhere this guy's only played a year of organized football. Could be TOB's next Kiwanuka.

Another one bites the dust

Tried to look for a decent article about him. This is as good as I found.http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/11/15/2776804/big-surprise-in-raleigh.htmlPretty cool that last year he didn't know a thing about football last year.

^^ Pack Pride had been reporting that Brown wasn't a focus going back about a month ago.

^on the other side of that argument is that he's got more reason to work harder because he comes from a 2nd or 3rd world country

on the other side of that argument is that he 's got more reason to works harder because he comes from a 2nd or 3rd world countryfifyi remember the year we played BC (was it CTC's last year, or TOBs first year here) and Kiawanuka was a senior and just dominated that game.
1/18/2012 11:13:20 AM
^that sounds better..thx
1/18/2012 11:16:25 AM
^ it wasn't that different than what you said, but ive worked with and known a lot of Africans in the technical/engineering fields and they are very sharp, extremely polite and work hard, and that's from North all the way to South Africa
1/18/2012 11:43:53 AM
Yep, them africans are a good bunch of people.

Kenderious Whitehead is down to us and Clemson, but with Owino committing you wonder how much we will continue to recruit him.
1/18/2012 1:07:51 PM
^we're recruiting whitehead to play Linebacker. Different positions
1/18/2012 8:25:52 PM
owino's got vicious pursuit and a great story, I really hope he pans out
1/18/2012 8:34:01 PM
^^Got a source for that? I saw some random dude say that on Pack Pride but I'm not putting much stock in that.

NC State landed one of their biggest commitments of the year tonight when Lithonia (GA) King High School defensive end Kenderius Whitehead notified the coaches that he would be playing for the Wolfpack. "NC State was in my heart," said Whitehead. "I went down there for two visits, and I came back feeling like that was the place for me. "I wanted to take one more visit to be sure, and that's why I went to Clemson. I had a good time on that trip, they laid out the red carpet for me, but I knew it wasn't for me." An all-state selection, Whitehead recorded 103 tackles and 16 sacks as a senior. He held offers from programs such as North Carolina, NC State, Clemson, Georgia, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Nebraska, Miami, Notre Dame, and Tennessee before recently narrowing his list to NC State, Clemson, and Georgia. "I felt more comfortable dealing with coach Reed, coach O'Brien, and coach Willis than anyone else," he said. "I felt like I can trust them, and I can accomplish everything I want at NC State. I know people might ask why I chose NC State, but it came down to a feeling and that's where I felt the most at home. "I'm pacing around all pumped up about it. I'm ready to sign the papers." Whitehead is rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is ranked the No. 45 defensive end prospect in the country

I have to say I really like what we've done at DE/LB of late
1/18/2012 11:24:57 PM
^^yeah, and that's in georgia. awesome pick-up. so he's projected to be a lb?solid, solid class![Edited on January 18, 2012 at 11:27 PM. Reason : arrows]

TOB basically just took a big dump on everyone whose complaining about his recruiting.this is great news!
1/19/2012 12:21:42 AM
I like our class so far, hopefully we can add another OL
1/19/2012 12:22:12 AM
bottom of the screen ESPNU recruiting ticker had the Whitehead story (they have him as a 4*) and the Owino decommit from UNC and commit to us... good times.

1/19/2012 6:28:45 AM
wow that means so much to be menitoned
1/19/2012 7:47:20 AM
great pick ups
1/19/2012 8:55:33 AM
our defensive line depth is getting epic....and if he plays LB...then our LB depth is getting less worrisome[Edited on January 19, 2012 at 9:16 AM. Reason : sdf]

Whitehead higHLighTs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGiBWP2nGHw
1/19/2012 9:30:25 AM
so, UGA is all butt-hurt because they thought Whitehead was in the bag. They even "dispatched their recruiting coordinator to his school yesterday to try and talk him out of it". So this is a big deal. TOB got a recruit over UGA who they had targeted and wanted bad.http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2012/01/18/surprise-uga-de-target-picks-nc-state-over-bulldogs-and-clemson/

he'll probably be in sports management before it's all said and done
1/19/2012 10:06:54 AM
1/19/2012 10:36:42 AM
^ Still doesn't mean he won't eventually be moved there. Not saying it's going to happen...but players move around all the time. He'll probably start off at DE because we probably told him that's where he'll get his first shot.
1/19/2012 10:40:55 AM
^^that's why I said "IF" I hadn't heard for sure otherwise until that article ...loving our D-line over the next few years[Edited on January 19, 2012 at 10:41 AM. Reason : d]

now hearing that Whitehead has been a silent verbal for a while now
1/19/2012 12:21:38 PM
The staff is making a late push with Jamal Marcus out of Hillside:http://georgiatech.scout.com/a.z?s=140&p=8&c=1&nid=4953430They like him at LB not DE.
1/19/2012 12:56:29 PM
Nice. That's one hell of an offer list ... Ohio State, Florida, USC, Georigia, etc. If he can run, a 245 lbs LB would be beastly.
1/19/2012 2:36:23 PM
all i see is them saying UNC is making a late pushhttp://northcarolina.scout.com/2/1146757.html
