anyone had an issue where the phone will only come up to the Bootloader?i was trying to upgrade my OS to Gingerbread on my D2G from Fission ROM by installing the Gingerbread ZIP through the Bootstrapper and got an error and it said the installation aborted...i rebooted figuring it would revert back to the previous config but now when I start it it comes up to:BootloaderD0.11Err:A5,69,35,00,3DBattery OKOK to ProgramTransfer Mode:USBIf I boot the phone with the volume keys held down I get the same thing, minus the error messages...I'm trying to flash an SBF file using RSD Lite 4.9 and it goes through to 100% then I get an error message saying Phone(0000): Error sending JUMP command Device API...and while I have the proper USB drivers installed, RSD Lite lists my phone as not having any software version, IMEI, etc and instead of being listed as a D2G aka A956, its listed as S Flash OMAP3630 MII'm running RSD Lite with admin privileges in Vista and have seen other people with the same error messages but can't figure it out...I just downloaded a different SBF so hopefully that will work, but even though I have a total backup of everything I'd really hate for it to be bricked and have to take it back to Verizonon one messageboard I read where a dev said its either a problem with the SBF file itself or a probelm with RSD Lite communicating with the phone...even though I'm sure I got the SBF for the D2Global I'm trying a different one so it might be RSD Lite's ability to program the phone...although another poster said the first time he flashed his phone was listed as the "S Flash OMAP..." but after flashing it showed up as his actual phone-----edit:progress with the new SBF file...now status is "Flashing Code Group 39" and the phone display shows SW Update In Progress...[Edited on May 13, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason : i really hope this works]

code groups were verified but then it tried to enter some mode where it had Vista search for a driver, the flash failed but eventually the driver installed and RSD then told me that the phone was connected again, even though the phone still said SW Update in progress...I couldnt reboot with the power button so I did a battery pull, and now at the Bootloader instead of errors, it says Code Corruptgonna try the SBF again, this is frustrating

i hate taking my phone to the brink of complete disaster, but its a good feeling when i fix it, cause thats how i roll /bootloader problem

Yeah I got it last night, too. I guess we'll see how the browser fares longer term.
5/14/2011 10:57:26 AM
anyone picking up a Charge today?
5/14/2011 2:11:58 PM
Halp! Charge or Thunderbolt?
5/15/2011 4:09:40 PM
Battery life significantly better with the charge. But Samsung is notoriously slow with their android updates.
5/15/2011 4:20:02 PM
i think when the iphone 5 drops i'm gonna get that and sell my X, especially if it has a 4" screen. the perks of android were cool at first, but after a while i just don't take advantage of the platform enough to warrant having it.

Earlier last week my boss informed me that he was considering getting an iPhone and wanted my opinion as well as the difference between an Android. My buddy's father apparently asked the same thing and we both responded in essentially the same way.If you want full control over every aspect of your smartphone experience you should go with Android (recent HTC bootloader fiasco aside). If you want a phone that will "just work" and are perfectly fine with having your smartphone experience micromanaged then by all means get the iPhone.
5/15/2011 9:39:29 PM
not to mention the many other hassles that go along with having an iPhone...higher insurance payment per month, higher deductible, inability to expand memory or replace dead batteries, requirement to go to Apple stores for service rather than any Verizon store...list goes on and on.

Fayetteville.Bastards.^ And yeah, b/t the Thunderbolt and Charge, I'd actually take neither. LTE phones right now are way too bulky for my tastes. Plus I can't justify it without LTE actually being available where I live right now. ]

Went with the charge. Anything will beat this alias v1.

5/16/2011 5:46:18 PM

5/16/2011 5:51:15 PM

5/16/2011 8:20:20 PM

5/16/2011 8:39:01 PM
^^ im using a manual install that doesn't check your device. It might work.

Who builds these operating systems for these phones? I'm assuming this stuff isn't a project that individuals/groups/corporations create for non-profit... Do they gather sponsors? How does software development make a profit when everything is available for free? I'm curious because there has to be money somewhere in it, otherwise it makes no business sense.[Edited on May 17, 2011 at 12:26 AM. Reason : .]

Advertising revenue. Carving out a niche with the os, get a percentage of the market sales, and most of the in app ad revenue. Then there's pulling people into using more Google apps, like calendar, etc... and getting ad revenue from the web portion, too.[Edited on May 17, 2011 at 1:30 AM. Anyone else have the Thunderbolt??Just got one this past Saturday and absolutely love it so far, the only downside is the battery doesn't last very long. For those that have the phone, did you get the extended battery? How much did it extend the hours between charging??
5/17/2011 9:07:12 AM
so i'm in the market for a new phone, and possibly a new carrierwhat's the best android phone out currently, and is there anything special about to be released?
5/17/2011 9:33:13 AM
^To my knowledge the Galaxy S2 hasn't received a stateside release date, but it looks like the first worthy successor to the EVO/DroidX generation of phones.http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxys2/html/
5/17/2011 10:36:11 AM
looks like LTE is live in Raleigh. Just got the icon when I left my office for lunch. Speeds are still low ~2Mbps
5/17/2011 12:55:40 PM
^^^ T-Mobile has a a deal now with unlimited voice, data and text for 79.99 a month w/ 2 year contract. Plus they've got a deal where you can get a 125 dollar gift card when you switch carriers.Network isn't as great as some of the bigger carriers but unless you go out in the sticks a lot it might be worth it. I just moved over from AT&T
5/17/2011 1:16:01 PM
my phone calls are not coming through, i know i have missed a call when my GVmail dings.powering off and back on/battery pull solves the problem temporarily.....i can receive one call, subsequent calls go to voice mail.i can make calls just fine.suggestions..........or just deal with customer support..........hate customer support
5/17/2011 1:32:43 PM
^^ yeah, plus they have the G2X which appears as though it may give the Galaxy S II a run for its money as the best phone on the market. ^ factory reset? That'll be the first thing they tell you to do if you call in.
5/17/2011 1:35:08 PM
LTE in Raleigh, really? And only 2Mbps?
5/17/2011 2:19:18 PM
yeah, not sure if they're just testing or they plan on leaving it on. Raleigh/Durham wasn't part of the list of cities released yesterday that were going live on Thursday. Someone as far as Knightdale reported getting it and I get it when I walk outside of my office near Hwy 70 Bus/I-40 (doesn't work inside). The speedtest app is apparently still a little a little flakey so I'll try speakeasy.net when I leave this afternoon if it's still on.
5/17/2011 2:23:21 PM
I'd have to guess testing. Cause they'd be advertising it like heck if it were coming online fully.
5/17/2011 2:27:18 PM
Anyone know if you can get Gingerbread on the original Moto Droid?I'm running 2.2 with a Lithium Mod
5/17/2011 3:15:20 PM

5/17/2011 3:19:09 PM
Do you guys recommend any ROMS for 2.3?
5/17/2011 3:34:01 PM
Since it looks like we haven't had a stupid question in here in a while, I'm afraid I'm breaking the chain. I just went from OG Droid to Droid 2 Global (since I never could solve the on-face context button problem with my OG Droid), and the screen lock on this one is not clearly understood to me. On my OG Droid, I had the screen lock set up to be the drawable pattern, and it would prompt me to draw that pattern whenever I pressed the "wake" button on the phone. I liked that. Now, on my Droid 2 Global, I've set up the same drawable pattern lock BUT it also keeps prompting me for the simple sliding lock. I press wake, the simple slide comes up (which I would prefer not to have if possible), I slide that to unlock, and then it prompts me for the drawable pattern. That seems redundant. Is there any way to completely disable the simple sliding lock? I've hunted for a long time in Settings to try to find this, and been to the Verizon store where they were no help whatsoever...

Have any of you had any experience with the SkyRaider 4.0 Sense ROM on the Incredible?Looks to run on 2.3 with a modded and expanded version of Sense.
