it's amazing what an asshole guys like him (and Savage, Rush, etc) are to people who call and attempt to have normal conversations with them

although it's funny that it sounded like he thought she was calling to complain about the MA healthcare system, but then he turned into a complete dickhead when he realized she was actually complementing it.

Eh, she started the call off with "you need to pick your head back up and put it back on your shoulders". But, didn't you say it yourself that these guys are entertainment first? The gun toting god fearing republicans LOVE when someone yells at people with a different political stance. They love that shit, eat it up. It's why these guys keep doing it as part of their shtick. It has always been weird to me why you can't find a liberal voice that behaves this way on their shows. I mean, Olberman gets pompous, but these guys are on a different level with their shouting and vein popping explosions.

^ Are you really that stupid? (1) I wasn't defending Beck or his book(s)--I indicated that a significant number of people seem to like him and are apparently interested in his books and broadcast programs. And (2) I clearly indicated that just because something is popular doesn't necessarily mean it's bad--or good.

Find a new chew toy, you fucking barnacle.

http://feeds.dailykos.com/~r/dailykos/index/~3/MvJt_hvLZAs/-Sean-Hannity-joins-the-birther-brigade

They title this "sean hannity joins the birther brigade," though I think that's slightly unfair. He is, however, giving this story positive airtime, which is INSANE.

Quote :
"Transcript:

Now we told you yesterday about an army reserve soldier who challenged his deployment orders on the grounds that President Obama has not proven that he is a U.S. citizen.

Now that soldier, Major Stefan Frederick Cook, who was supposed to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming days, has now had his orders revoked, according to his lawyer, quote, "They just said order revoked. No explanation. No reasons. Just revoked."

Now, Major Cook and his lawyer expressed joy at this outcome. And they took it as an admission on the part of the military that the president is not in fact a legitimate citizen by birth.
"

Sean Hannity fails to note that the military did offer an explanation for the revocation of Cook's orders: Cook had volunteered to serve in Afghanistan (probably so he could file this suit), and after he filed the suit, the military decided it no longer wanted him.

It's been proven on multiple fronts. The legislature is satisfied, obviously, or at least one opposition leader would have brought it up. Thus far, only Internet cranks think it is in any way sane to suggest he's not legitimate.

Quote :
"VIDEO: Fox commentator encourages Taliban to kill captive U.S. soldier

[O]n "America's News HQ," guest pundit Ralph Peters suggested something to the effect that the Taliban should "save us the headache" and execute captured 23 year-old American soldier Bowe Bergdahl, because "it looks like" Bergdahl deserted his unit. While prefacing his comments by stressing that a military decision should not be made until all of the facts surrounding Bergdahl's capture are determined, Peters then ignored his own advice and encouraged the Taliban to kill this young man."

I took my mom to her physical therapy appointment the other day.

The TV in the waiting room was tuned into FOX news. A woman went up to the front desk and asked them to change the channel. After they refused she said, "People come here to get healed! How is listening to bigots scream healing?!?!"

Props to her.

http://www.newshounds.us/2009/07/21/out_of_touch_hannity_thinks_ham_costs_79_cents_in_most_grocery_stores.php

lolwut? According to Sean Hannity, the goverment is a sucker for buying ham at $1.50 per pound. "By the way, Tom, the ham you've been paying a buck fifty for, it actually costs only 79 cents in most grocery stores. Thanks for being so careful with our stimulus money."

Where the fuck

in the entire United States of America

can you get ham for 79 cents a pound?

Has Sean Hannity EVER been grocery shopping?

^^ LOL! I just wanted to post that to piss off spöoky.

I'm not really defending Hannity's comment. I'm sure that there are packaging differences--not to mention limits on the Food Lion purchases of ham at the listed price. I think a general point has been made, though.

In any event, the USDA was sensitive enough about the report in question to issue "Release No. 0322.09":

Response to Drudge Item on Recovery Act Funding

Statement from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack

Quote :
"Through the Recovery Act, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has made $100 million available to the states for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which acquires food that is distributed to local organizations that assist the needy – including food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens.

The Recovery Act funds referenced in press reports allowed states to purchase ham, cheese and dairy products for these food banks, soup kitchens and food pantries that provide assistance to people who otherwise do not have access to food. This program will help reduce hunger of those hardest hit by the current economic recession.

The references to "2 pound frozen ham sliced" are to the sizes of the packaging. Press reports suggesting that the Recovery Act spent $1.191 million to buy "2 pounds of ham" are wrong. In fact, the contract in question purchased 760,000 pounds of ham for $1.191 million, at a cost of approximately $1.50 per pound. In terms of the dairy purchase referenced, USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) purchased 837,936 pounds of mozzarella cheese and 4,039,200 pounds of processed cheese. The canned pork purchase was 8,424,000 pounds at a cost of $16,784,000, or approximately $1.99 per pound.

While the principal purpose of these expenditures is to provide food to those hardest hit by these tough times, the purchases also provide a modest economic benefit of benefiting Americans working at food retailers, manufacturers and transportation companies as well as the farmers and ranchers who produce our food supply."
