Interesting column (with some dreaded AMERICAN STATS) about how managers should be much more aggressive with substitutions

^ That's a rough week, crashing out of both domestic cup competition's in 3 days

And what seemed like an assured top 4 spot is in doubt now as well, though I still think they will get it since now they will have a fresh squad for the run in, as more than likely Dortmund will knock them out of CL

That's what happens when Levy refuses to acquire some decent talent during the transfer window. The starting XI is great but see what happens when you take out three players.

^ didn't think that was a pen, looks worse in slow mo. Salah took a poor touch inside and Maguire just anticipated it

Liverpool was poor and a draw was probably fair for Leicester considering they had a good amount of chances but I'm just so sick of obvious penalties like Keita and Sterling a few games back getting nothing but we hear all about 50/50 calls with Salah, Lingard, Kane, etc.

So I figure Saari is close to getting axed. He reminds me too much of Scolari and AVB, to stubborn to change tactics. Not scoring enough even though that was what he promised coming in. Not all of that is his fault, but he hasn't changed tactics and still playing people out of position. Locking out Zola after the game didn't sit well with supporters. If he draws or loses to Huddersfield he will be gone.

Freezing out Ozil and letting Ramsey leave on a free is insanity by Emery. This squad can’t defend so might as well go all out attack.

I really don't understand why we didn't look for a defender in January. Would have much preferred Milner in mf over Keita today, keita such a disappointment this season

So pool fans how are you feeling about your chances after January in the run in? No FA cup helps but with CL fixtures and the league heating up do you think you have the depth to compete on both fronts?

This Bayern team is beatable but surely you'd prefer pool to be out of the CL and focus solely on the league?

Tottenham also keep getting late wins out of the hat and staying within touching distance. Will be interesting to see how the three teams shape up. I am hoping Higuain doesn't reshape Chelsea because we are close to fourth but goddamn we should have fired Jose sooner. Could and should be closer to Tottenham right now. Thanks pool for trashing us at anfield!

Tbh I'm a little worried that United will act as kingmakers. All else being equal, your games against City and Pool are looking like the toughest remaining fixtures for both teams.

Sounds like TAA could be back this weekend. We really need him, lovren and Wij to be healthy for the run in.

So today is going to be a pseudo home game for City right. I am sure the Toffees supporters want their club to lay down tonight.

Also bless your heart Pep thinking Chelsea has a shot at PL Title. I don't even have that optimism I just want to secure a CL spot.

Ideal scenario for everyone is that we beat both of you. I am more concerned that the derby gets pushed back because City will almost certainly progress in the FA cup. If it gets pushed back to end of April then we have two huge matches that will have implications for our top 4 chances. City and Chelsea. That would put us in a terrible position of having to beat city and potentially handing the title to pool or losing to city and missing out on top 4.

Don't think we will be that good down the stretch but if we keep winning and end up third we are well setup to hire Ole and push forward for an actual title challenge next year. Arguably though a missed opportunity this year if that does happen.

If City is within 3 points after their United game and the international break, they're gonna win the title.

I am actually optimistic vs. Bayern and most of the injured guys should be back so I think CL is still there for now. Really missing TAA more than anyone else at the moment. Ox back for anything would be a huge plus.

I will say not to discount Spurs chances they are winning albeit late without their talisman. If and that is an if they get knocked out in round of 16 in CL they will be able to keep their thin squad rested.

City is still alive in CL, FAC, and they have the League Cup final in a couple of weeks. Fatigue could play a role even with a squad as deep as theirs.

I still think Liverpool are the favorites if they can weather this injury storm they should be in good shape.

City's depth is just outrageous and can handle the fixtures. I also expect them to beat Schalke very comfortably and I'm not even sure what jabronies they're playing against in the FA Cup. Big deal.

I'm not discounting Spurs at all, I just think after we reach that point of the season, it's City's to win if they are leading or within a game, looking at the remaining fixtures.

I don't know. City's mandate will definitely prioritize CL over the league at this point. Pep needs to also make it back to the CL final. They are almost certainly guaranteed a quarter final spot so the focus may be different. If City is 3 points behind pool after the United match I would say it is Pool's to lose given the run in after.

Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves for LFC in the last 7 vs. City has Spurs and maybe Palace away on paper as their hardest games.

Likely it's gonna come down to how the mini league in the top 5 goes for the rest of the season. But then again, both City and Liverpool have been dropping some stupid points lately so who knows. Spurs def can make it interesting but they will need some other stuff to go their way and winning big games on the road will be tough.

Yeah that's the thing for Spurs. If they were only chasing one team from their spot, I'd give them better odds but City/Liverpool both collapsing (OR SLIPPING) is not likely.

What an embarrassment.

Saari has got to get over being so stubborn on his tactics to finish out the season as he doesn't have the players willing and/or able to run his preferred system. First think I would do is drop Luiz and Alonso they aren't equipped for his tactics and it shows. He either needs to drop Jorginho or have Kante give him some cover because the EPL has figured out how to defend him. Since Abramovich has been absent this year with his row with British government over a visa, he may not sack Saari. If that is the case then Saari should give Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, and Ampadu more run outs to see what he is with them. Both Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi want to leave, if you give them more games maybe (and thats a huge maybe) you can convince them to stay

Hats off to City they destroyed us and made game absolutely unbearable to watch.

I have mixed emotions about Man U's revival under Solskjaer. On the one hand, I like Ole and I like the kind of positive football they're playing, and I'm glad Pogba's world-class talents are no longer being wasted.

On the other hand, I still feel antipathy towards Man U fans in general due to their constant bragadaccio and bandwagonning during the years under SAF, and think they deserve to suck and suffer for at least like 5 more seasons. So it's a bit of a dilemma for me.

Basically why everyone doesn't want liverpool to win. I obviously haven't known many pool fans that were around during the 70's and 80's but the older generation still remembers and that is why they are so hated too. Trust me the bandwagon is hated amongst United fans as well and the one good thing about the last 5 years.

If you ask most of us we are delighted at the turnaround and more importantly the restoration of the club's ethos. I have said it before but we should have groomed someone from within the club to takeover after SAF like Barca often do. Jury is still out on Ole but we have enjoyed how he has brought that feel good factor back. I am hoping it continues and that feel good is replaced by the arrogance of "We'll do what we want" but for now its good to get back to United's basics.
