In real simple terms if you are the fastest cheeseburger maker at mcdonalds and therefore make more than other line workers but you decide to deuce on a burger you cant expect to get rehired at the same rate pre deuce incident. You are still the fastest but no one trusts you to not shit on a customers burger. You fucked up and now move back to minimum wage. His stats are a fact and the NFLs viewership are a more important fact to the bottom line. Its like saying osama bin laden was the best QB to sling a football so why can he not demand Aaron Rogers pay. Quite simply because we can sell more ads with Rogers flinging the ball because half of our market doesn't despise him.

Know your market. Know your role. If he wants to be a political activist it affects his marketability. Why? Their goal is to sell ads. That is primary. To do so they hire talent. Without either they fail. But their main focus is sales. If you are a great player but not marketable you do not fit the bill. How is that wrong?

This is a for profit marketing firm. He is a decent QB. He is horrible for publicity and sales. This is a marketing and sales decision and there are better options. He would need better stats to have people turn a blind eye and say we will take the hit on 50% of our viewership hating the decision. Especially in a world of a sea of equally talented players that havent made theirselves toxic by deciding they want to be politicians and activists instead of football players.
