I lost a friend to suicide last year and could’ve used some sort of heads up

I feel it would be odd to go to the theaters and see a warning about a scene having suicide

I mean spoiler alert ffs

do you consider warnings of violence/gore/nudity/flashing lights as spoilers?

Lol. Seems to me those things don’t spoilthe plot like expecting a characters suicide would

it’s not like they would name the character beforehand

But then you'd be thinking during the whole movie "Who's is going to be?", "why?", "when?"

Would you not watch it if you knew? Or do you think it would better prepare you to accept it when it happens?

the latter

it’s not like the suicide would be used as some sort of plot twist, so it’d be a bit odd if you would go into the movie as if the suicide of a character was a treated like a whoodunnit

you’d make a really shitty screenwriter

I’d hope that you’d see where I was coming from after saying that I recently dealt with a friend taking their own life. maybe you’d get it if you were going through something similar.

or you’d just continue to be a dipshit who loves to argue

I’ll also point out that foreshadowing definitely helps out. there’s another suicide in a movie I’ve seen recently that was clearly heading up to that point. the one in the Menu was just a bit too gratuitous

I'm sorry for your loss, but adding a warning before a movie is not the way.

If you are concerned that it might be impactful. Read the reviews or even the plot synopsis before going to the movie. or wait for it to come on Netflix/TV to be warned before watching.

Had I known the suicide in Midsommer was coming, that would have taken away from the movie. and it's literally in the first minute.

There are probably databases people can research before hand if something is enough of a trigger, like there are sites for if an animal dies in a movie I think.

My partners crazy parents would go read about all the bad stuff in a movie before they decided to let her see it and that 20-30 years ago

I normally wouldn’t have said anything, but having gone through it, with the movie that was referenced, I totally understand how it could be an issue

that coupled with the worst people on the Right trivializing the concept of being triggered

I commend you for being truthful that being triggered by the right played at least some part in your prior responses.

I guess I’m the worst of the right.

Could one who recently lost someone to cancer be triggered by a slow decline and death in a movie? (I know I certainly come away feeling like shit when I see this in a movie after watching my mother wither away)
What about someone who lost a loved one in a tragic car accident.
A couple dealing with infertility?

Sure a lot of these triggers will be part of the plot, thus advertised in the trailer, but not always.

If we let ourselves, we’ll be sitting through a list of triggers.

And

Is basically the entire plot to Knives Out

Not to detract from your post, but I thought this too, just didn’t want to emphasize it in any way. Not because I think you suck(you don’t), I just didn’t want the past evidence of tgl3 focusing on you so specifically to come into the forefront. Although it’s hard to ignore if you have been a user as long as I have.

I don't have a problem with trigger warnings if they are avoidable, like on some subreddits.

You People is pretty unremarkable. A few funny scenes, but overall probably the worst Eddie Murphy movie and the worst Jonah Hill movie I've ever seen.

I was about to post about how excellent this is, but the big villain speech/reason for the plot is kinda lame. Still a very fun movie

Movie was fine but i recommend reading the book instead. Weasley, the young girl and the kid were pretty bad imo. I know it's hard to find child actors but the kid was giving snl disney channel parody

Watched knock at the cabin couple days ago too. Was fine. Not great. Just seemed too straight forward. Not that I wanted or needed some big Shamalan twist, but it just felt too linear and predictable.

I watched Fall this weekend. I'm not one that is generally afraid of heights but damn this movie got me.

Once you get past the very absurd idea that the one girl can hold on to another girl's rope while free-falling, while her other hand is anchored by only fingers to the center of the tower, it's a pretty hair raising flick.

I couldn't imagine someone with a fear of heights watching this movie.
