I can still see us struggling through non conference and up to mid-season conference where we put on a run and squeak into the tourney. There still is a bunch of talent out there with Abu, Cat, BJ and NardDog on the floor. And there is nothing more exciting in college BBall than watching players develop and rise during the season, so hopefully this happens with Rowan.

The big fear that I have now is Bam and Co. getting squeamish while the team figures out what it needs to do to win.

Kirk was a known project. He's a tremendous athlete with a bunch of upside, just have to hone his game some. He was never expected to see the court much this season, more of a 4-year guy that has potential to be a really good player by his junior/senior season.

I feel bad for Cat. He is gonna have to carry this team like JHodge style, and that is asking a lot. But honestly I don't think that it is as bas as our record looks. We just need a bit more aggressiveness from our bigs.

So we have 3 decent non conference games left. We blew a good chance last night against a mediocre team to get lucky and avoid LSU. With that william and mary loss if we cant win tonight or against michigan or mizzou then we probably are left needing 11-7 in ACC at bare minimum and that doesnt seem likely.

nah. its too early for that talk. there are plenty of opportunities for signature wins in conference. unc duke uva miami. i think we play like 9 ranked opponents plus florida state who will be ranked inevitably. if you can't make the tournament in the pressure of february/march, then theres no point in going just to lose.

Doss2k makes a valid point. In today's NCAA, if you don't get at least one quality OOC win, then you basically have to go HAM in the ACC or you get left out of the NCAA like so many of Greenberg's Va Tech teams.

We pretty much have to win the next 5 OOC and somehow manage a .500 ACC record to sniff the tournament.

For the first time in the Gott era, I'm thinking we are a NIT team. Hopefully Henderson helps.

Basketball is much harder to predict what is needed for post-season play. Generally, we can say we need 20 wins and at least a .500 conf. record, but it also depends a lot on RPI, which we have no control over. And then, of course, teams have the opportunity of winning their conference championship. So I think it's a little early to predict whether we will make the NCAA or not. Regardless, we have some good talent, and Gottfried has shown that his teams consistently improve over the course of a season. I think it will be a pretty exciting year, and still expect to make the NCAA.

It's been about six weeks since he had surgery. Original diagnosis was 6-8 weeks.
