That will be next season

I'm afraid GRRM's story is going to have too many loose ends to tie up. I don't think we've heard from Tonks or Rickon since they left Bran.
6/16/2014 10:39:49 PM
Too busy fighting unicorns
6/17/2014 12:31:03 AM
At the end of ADWD there was mention of Rickon... someone mentioned that they could hear him an Osha or something like that and that they were in a really bad place or whatever.
6/17/2014 9:17:39 AM
They are in skaagos fighting unicorns
6/17/2014 10:34:22 AM
Manderly (I think??) has the boy who can't talk who shows on the map that they're headed to Skagos

I'm still wondering if we are going to see anymore of Syrio Forel, Jaqhen Hagar, Nymeria, etc. Also, a question from waaaaaay back. In the books, did we ever read for sure who were the two people talking down in the dungeon of the Red Keep when Arya overhead them regarding their master plan? The show seemed to indicate that it was Varyis and Magister Illyrio, but I really don't see what those two had in common. It seems Illyrio wanted the Targaryens back on the throne, while Varys was trying his best to talk Robert into killing her.
6/17/2014 11:18:35 AM
Syrio is dead, jaqen has another identity and it's assumed he's the alchemist at the citadel, I don't think the show will show nymeria and her giant roaming killer wolf pack.Varys and illyrio are friends and business partners. They built a fortune together in pentos before varys became the mad kings spy master
6/17/2014 11:24:18 AM
We don't know that Syrio is dead. Meryn is still alive yes, but Syrio could've escaped. Personally, I'm kinda hoping that Syrio=Jaqen=whoeverheisnow^I understand there is a relationship there, but why are they seemingly plotting against each other?[Edited on June 17, 2014 at 11:29 AM. Why would it be epic? He taught Arya how to sword fight...that's it. Him coming back into the story would be like..."Really?? All of the characters in these books and you choose to bring THIS ONE back??"
6/17/2014 2:31:10 PM
I wonder now that Tywin is dead who is going to run KL? He was the puppet master pulling all kinds of strings. I can't see anyone politically competent running the show. With Tywin out of the way I would march right in and claim my Throne
6/17/2014 3:05:57 PM
The real power behind the throne will be revealed to be ser pounce
6/17/2014 3:09:34 PM
Because he would have been looking out for Arya ever since her dad was killed and her (and the reader) would have never known it. Not only did he teach her how to sword fight, but how to survive and become a master assassin. Perhaps Syrio actually killed Meryn Trant and used his Faceless Man powers to assume his identity long enough to escape Kings Landing.
6/17/2014 3:15:35 PM
so he willingly stuck around long enough to beat and assault Sansa on Joffrey's order all in the long scheme to protect Arya? just stop.]

There's also all of the infighting within the Greyjoys we haven't seen yet. No coldhands?I can't remember what happened to Robert's bastard on dragonstone - did he end up getting sacrificed? Not Gendry, but the small child they were talking about early on in the books.Granted, it has been a while since I've read the last book, so my timeline is all screwed up.
6/17/2014 9:42:31 PM
^ gendry took his place in the show. So davos sent gendry away instead of edric storm
6/17/2014 10:33:35 PM
Sidenote: Any thoughts on why they left out the thing about Tyrion's wife during the escape? Wasn't that the whole reason that Tyrion went up to shoot Tywin to begin with?[Edited on June 18, 2014 at 9:21 AM. Reason : No jeepin, YOU just stop.]
6/18/2014 9:17:48 AM
I think they don't want to confuse the viewers. I could be wrong, but in the book, I think they reference back to Tyrion's several times so it's always fresh in your memory and you know how big of a deal it is to him. In the show, I think he talks about it with Shae once...and maybe Jamie another time. Either way, I doubt many viewers remember that he had a first wife, or if they do, they don't remember the details or whether or not it's a big deal. And in the buildup to the scene (Tywin sleeping with Shae, Tywin framing Tyrion for Joffrey's murder, every other shitty thing he's done to Tyrion), its not necessary to have the added motivation to kill his father at the risk of confusing the viewers ("Wait...what did they just talk about Tyrion having a first wife? I don't remember that??)Things that flow and make sense in the book aren't always necessary and would take up too much time in the show. And now we won't have to hear Tyrion say, "Where do whore's go?" a million times in the show....because that was fucking annoying in the book as well. 6/18/2014 9:50:46 AM
not including the Tysha backstory also prevented them from having Jaime and Tyrion parting ways on bad terms, the way they did in the book.
6/18/2014 10:45:36 AM
they'll have to find some other way for jaime to find out cersei is fucking lancel.
6/18/2014 1:12:23 PM
well he should at least know by now she was having sexual relations with other people. at least that's what i assumed she was saying when she told him he took too long to come back.[Edited on June 18, 2014 at 4:11 PM. Reason : ]
6/18/2014 4:11:28 PM
Yeah, I think the thing I missed the most is "she's been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and probably Moon Boy for all I know". Dinklage would have killed delivering a similar line.
6/18/2014 5:36:26 PM
lol true
6/18/2014 6:27:22 PM
Possible spoilersI can't remember but has the Horn of Winter been mentioned at all in the show?
6/19/2014 3:21:54 PM
Question for the books. The Horn of Winter is supposed to be a super weapon that would take down the wall. Well, Mance knows what is coming - that is the main reason for taking his people south. Why in the hell would he want to use the Horn and remove one of the biggest impediments to the White Walkers move south?
6/19/2014 3:47:42 PM
it's just a threat. leave us north and we'll blow the horn, bring the wall down, and let the walkers easily come after you as well as us. you learn more about that horn in ADWD
6/19/2014 4:07:46 PM
6/19/2014 5:37:34 PM
does this mean cersei won't play "king" while fucking one of her female handmaidens?
6/19/2014 7:32:04 PM

That graphic is pretty cool (away too big) but when I look at it all I can think is that someone has way too much time on their hands to put that together
6/21/2014 8:35:25 PM
so according to that entirely too big graphic (thanks for fucking up the page with that by the way), in episode 1 of this latest season we saw a glimpse of the blank space next to Mercy's chapter

you can block the image if it's such a pain to you, or complain to a moderator. there's nothing i can do about it now.
6/21/2014 10:49:29 PM
what was in that Winds of Winter chapter and how did they do it in the show? Was that the scene of the White Walker tanking Craster's child north?

edited the pic size. If you want to see the full size just click on the link.

the Winds of Winter chapter "Mercy" is centered around Arya and it definitely wasn't ever shown on the showyou can read it here: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/excerpt-from-the-winds-of-winter/[Edited on June 23, 2014 at 2:48 PM. Reason : asdf]

^^well technically the graph doesn't say it was, the column that is blocked off is the one to the right of Mercy
6/23/2014 5:05:54 PM
i assumed the content taken from "mercy" was arya coaxing polliver to beg to be carried like lommy before killing him the way polliver killed lommy. in the book raff the sweetling killed lommy, and in the "mercy" chapter arya kills raff, but first makes him utter lommy's last words.

WOWOWOW... apparently Lady Stoneheart is never going to appear. from the lips of Catelyn Tully herself.
6/26/2014 4:44:41 PM
That really doesn't surprise me. She's a stupid character in the book and I hope this means she doesn't have a big part in the remainder of the book series.
6/26/2014 5:57:29 PM
We have no idea what she will be doing or how important she will be in the future. This is a strange decision.
6/26/2014 6:34:27 PM
Yeah, she seemed kind of pointless in the book up to this point in the story. There are a lot of extraneous characters and plotlines in the books. I just don't see how they all get tied together in 2 books. The show was always going to have to cut out some of the subplots, this one won't be missed, IMO.
6/26/2014 8:49:10 PM
Except she plays a big part in briennes story, as well as the BWOB. I mean, Freys aren't just gonna start killing themselves. And a lot of Freys need to start dying to work towards the plot with the Manderlys etc
6/26/2014 8:57:59 PM
i think shes either trying to throw us a curve or just doesn't necessarily know what shes talking about. I think that we will see her, but i was not surprised at all that she didn't show up on the finale. I called it that we wouldn't see her for a very long time a year ago on page 7 of this thread. In my mind it makes perfect sense for the show to save her appearance. The show has a reputation for and seems to enjoy its big surprises, but we don't really have any big main character deaths again until Jon "dies." I think that, for the show, bringing Catelyn back from the dead is almost as big a surprise as some of the big deaths, so I think we will see her appear sometime next season.
