dont worry, we will only lose 3 more
11/19/2012 9:27:32 AM
We can only hope that this game serves as a wake-up call and will soon be forgotten as we improve. Purvis and Warren were our only players who did anything and combined for 31 points, our other 4 starters combined for 20 points. Zo and CJL had horrendous games, our shooting sucked, and free throws are gonna kill us if we don't improve.

11/19/2012 9:31:13 AM
Why do we fall?

11/19/2012 9:39:14 AM
although a lot can change over the course of a season and we're only 4 games in, is anyone else kind of concerned that leslie and howell are still getting into foul trouble so early? that was one of our biggest problems last year, and it doesn't seem like they've made much improvement on it.
11/19/2012 9:39:21 AM
i aint even scared
11/19/2012 9:41:06 AM
^^ I'm more worried that Zo hasn't shown up to half our games...nobody ever won a championship with their pg playing like ass. He needs to bring some intensity this next game or Gottfried should bench his ass and start Lewis just to send a message.[Edited on November 19, 2012 at 9:42 AM. Reason : extra ^]

^^^well, we were 16th and they were 43rd on kenpom the day before, so it doesn't really line up with the national rankings anywaywe'll probably be in there as like 17 or some shit[Edited on November 19, 2012 at 9:44 AM. Reason : :/]

It is odd at how closely this situation resembles what happened when Sid brought in JJ Hickson. You can tell from how they behave on the sidelines that something is not meshing.

no
11/19/2012 11:01:25 AM
^^^i didn't realize that Nash and Smart were so highly recruited. That makes me feel a little better. However, it doesn't make me feel better that apparently they were missing 2 or 3 other important players/starters.[Edited on November 19, 2012 at 11:02 AM. Reason : ^^smh]

I'm not worried about this loss specifically, but more worried about how we played the whole time in this tournament. We won comfortably each time and could've won by more if we'd kept playing the whole time, but Zo and CJL have yet to play a really good game yet. OSU shot really well, and outside of Purvis and Warren we shot like shit. We need Zo and CJL to come back big against UNC-A to set the tone for the team heading into the Michigan and UConn games.

Yeah, the Hickson year comparison is way off. If anything, this reminds me of Herb's final year, after Hodge left. That team still had plenty of talent, but absolutely no leadership on the floor.

11/19/2012 11:57:20 AM
I still expect a game like that out of Leslie every now and then, but not Zo Zo Juice. So depressing. I blame Brass Monkey's PR GF. Can we get her and Gavin Grant deported ASAP?
11/19/2012 12:18:03 PM
Its not like he just had a bad game he looked like an off guard trying to play point. He looked worse than gavin grant at poing guard. He dribbled the ball off his foot two or three times, got the ball stolen a few times bringing it up the court one on one, was ball pressured into throwing two "pic sixes", and had a few times where he got going out of control and threw up a prayer without any passes in the entire possession.
11/19/2012 12:31:34 PM
true. but smart may be one of the toughest PGs he plays against all season. hopefully he bounces back and quits turning the damn ball over!
11/19/2012 12:33:35 PM
That's what happens when Brown goes up against someone who's equally as talented and more aggressive. Brown's best attributes (size and passing) were negated by Smart's size and defensive intensity. Smart was quicker, stronger, and more tenacious. Zo will be just fine though. We might not see another PG all year who's a better athlete or better defender. That said, the thing that worries me most about this team is our perimeter defense. Our zone defense looked pretty darn good at times last night, but we still have way too many lapses in man-to-man.[Edited on November 19, 2012 at 12:43 PM. Reason : ]

Brown has a tendency to be very careless with the ball. This isn't something new. It's almost like he forgets people are actually trying to guard him (or that there are other defenders).
11/19/2012 1:23:37 PM
It's kinda part of his game, his swagger and confidence. When he's feeling it, it's his advantage. But like last night, it sometimes leads to sloppy plays and careless turnovers.
11/19/2012 1:34:03 PM
um duke, fsu, and unc have good fast, athletic guards and better supporting cast. We are 3rd in the conference at best.
11/19/2012 1:36:49 PM
what are you arguing? That Marcus Paige is a better PG than Marcus Smart?
11/19/2012 1:39:12 PM
son of a bitch. and I just got my #6 foam finger in the mail today.

FSU is the same as OSU except better defense, more athleticism and snaer is even better than smart. I didn't say they would finish ahead of us but they will give us trouble respectively. Have you guys never heard of dexter strickland and rasheed soulamonsp? Souliman is a sensational playmaker and Mason plumlee scores inside. Duke just beat kentucky if you weren't paying attention. They are for real. Sure we can put purvis on those good guards but I'm not so confident about a freshman carrying the torch on defense. We CAN'T STOP DRIBBLE PENETRATION. Thats a big fucking flaw.

lol at the meltdown. especially the meltdown on Pack Pride.it's a preseason tournament game in November. the outcome of this game matters not at all. the upperclassmen will turn it around.

people who have the football mindset of "RAWR RAWR EVERY GAME MATTERS RAWR RAWR" about basketball (ESPECIALLY in mid-November) make me want to rip my hair out

Time for the UNCA thread.....
11/19/2012 5:59:24 PM
I agree with tower, banjo & co. here. I don't get why people are worried about the ACC losing more teams since we're on the verge of having to disband our football & basketball teams for their complete lack of ineptitude
11/19/2012 6:04:08 PM
11/19/2012 6:29:27 PM
lol...lack of ineptitude.
11/19/2012 7:48:52 PM
I don't think anyone is mad with the fact that we lost a game. We are mad with the fact that we have not made the leap from good team to great team like all of the experts were thinking. It is obvious that we are the same team from last year with a few more scorers. We still have the mentality that made us like 2-10 against ranked teams.
11/19/2012 8:36:17 PM
^^A COMPLETE lack of it.
11/19/2012 8:38:27 PM
