I'm a huge SP fan. Love them. Have since they debuted when I was in college. Yeah, they've had downtimes and stinkers, but that Q special was fucking atrocious.

I enjoyed it. Neither special has blown me away but I laughed consistently.

^^Nah. They've had a couple of episodes that seemed to signal that way more clearly, but it keeps not happening. I think the salient message of the special was a return to a pre-Trump, possibly pre-serialization and pre-Tegrity Farms style.

Who knows what's going on in their heads, of course, but these guys seem like they have a pretty sweet gig. They work maybe 15 weeks a year and get paid well for it. Comedy Central seems to take a light touch with them, especially lately. Even if they had another big project in mind, it's not like doing the show has stopped them from that in the past (Book of Mormon, Team America, etc.).

^A friend of mine uses that to do this exactly. If you have a smart TV or firestick/etc that runs Android you have to enable third party downloads, then download a special downloading tool, then from that download Kodi. Kodi itself isn't illegal in any way (the same way that weed pipes aren't illegal because they are marketed as "for tobacco use only"), but from Kodi you can install certain add-ons that illegally stream just about anything you want.

Of course the old school method is to just download a torrent.

Stand did ask Cartman about him wearing a shirt with "Token" on it, but Cartman just said it was a joke or something, and that of course he knew his name was actually "Tolkien". I would think there would probably be other cases where "Token" was written out, but maybe not.

I ask because as much as I love Trey and Matt and this show, I think they're trying to make the point that if you thought his name was Token than some people would call you racist...i.e. they are trying to call out super woke people for being too crazy...but my guess is it has been written out as "Token" before and they changed it to make their point, which pretty much invalidates it.

I still found the episode highly funny, don't get me wrong, but it's hard to sit back and not analyze their messages

I don't remember when he first showed up, but the Token/Tolkien character has been around in this show for like 20 years, before the LOTR movies even came out and made JRR Tolkien known outside of fans of the books. I really doubt that they originally planned to call him Tolkien to set up a joke about racism 20 years later.
