Conyers stepping down today now.

Still -1 credibility for the harassment issues alone.

...or grabbing a guy's ass

I didn't think the picture was a big deal, but yeah, supposedly there are seven other accusers, and if they're legit, he needs to step down.

but, but, but what if the guy didn't grab her ass back because he felt violated instead??? That would be assault. But if he grabs her back, then everything is cool.

The fact that the GOP already elected a President embroiled in several sexual misconduct accusations really already put the Dems on plus credibility in comparison. Though really, both parties are trash.

He should have resigned nearly 3 weeks ago when all of this came out. It pisses me off some of you people were defending him, but now you're trying to jump on the bandwagon to say "well at least we will have the credibility upper hand"

The Kennedys and Clintons agree with this statement.

It depends on what your definition of is, is.

Exactly. This shouldn't be some sort of partisan issue. If you are a sexual predator, you shouldn't be a senator, no matter what your party affiliation is.

Not just a senator - but in any public position at all. My issue with it all - and yes it was handled very poorly from a Democrat standpoint -is the level of hypocrisy and non-reciprocity involving the same (somewhat even worse in the case of Moore) issues.

I mean the whole quote of "some of you dems defended him" is so outrageous (albeit not incorrect) when we have a sitting president that has admitted to the exact same things.

There's also a huge difference between "I don't think he actually groped her without her permission" and "Of course he banged that 14 year old, good for him!" Because that's the difference between a Franken supporter and a Moore supporter right now.

I get that you are speaking hypothetically, but as of now, Moore supporters don't acknowledge the credibility of any of the allegations...

I wasn't around before Clinton but the precedent for ignoring what a politician does in his personal life was definitely set with the Lewinski scandal. His scandals were far worse than what we are seeing now, on the job, and lied about under oath. There is no way he would survive that today.

Lewinski was also a consensual relationship right? Even if it was a dick move these cases aren't really the same.

So the consensual aspect may be debatable. A lot of harassment arguments in general center on whether the person was in a position of power or not.

where can i bet on if the DNC adopts this?
DNC 'unity' panel recommends huge cut in superdelegates
https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/09/dnc-superdelegates-unity-commission-288634

Quote :
"A commission set up to help reform the Democratic presidential nominating process has voted to restrict the number of superdelegates as part of a slew of changes.

The Democratic Party’s Unity Reform Commission is recommending cutting the number of superdelegates by about 400, equal to a 60 percent reduction. Many of the remaining superdelegates would see their vote tied to the results in their state.

The commission is also suggesting that absentee voting be required as an option for presidential caucus participants. It is calling for automatic voter registration and same-day voter registration. And it wants to mandate public reporting of raw vote totals from caucus states.

The recommendations will now go to the Democratic National Committee’s rules and bylaws committee, and then likely to the full 447-member Democratic National Committee for consideration sometime next year, where it will need two-thirds support to pass.

If anyone was wondering why the clinonists purged all the progressives in the DNC recently, this is why. The rules and bylaws committee is now safely establishment clintonists who can quickly reject the rules that threaten their power.

And all of the "we need party unity, not infighting!" clintonists will be noticeably silent as the party rejects the the few compromises the progressives got in the panel established to create party unity (a panel in which progressives were outnumbered)

But hey, at least people are starting to make fun of r/neoliberal so we got that going for us which is nice

It’s hilarious to see Democrats think McConnell will consider for a second delaying the tax vote like they did for Scott Brown and healthcare in 2010. Idealistic fools. No wonder the GOP controls everything.

That one was so much worse because it happened (literally) in office. Most of these other cases happened so long ago. Franken's resignation was a political move to gain leverage. They will maintain the seat and picked up the Alabama seat because of it. Smart sacrifice bunt.

At this rate, I expect elections will become full-on canonization processes where white smoke will be released from the capital dome to indicate the time the most righteous candidate has been found.

^ having a consensual relationship regardless of where it occurs, when it occurs, and if it is morally right or not will never be worse than sexual harassment. Ever. Period.

^uhh Lewinsky was Clinton's employee...

Do you assume she initiated the relationship? (or has this been stated and I don't know) given Clinton's history, I assume he initiated, which is sexual harassment even if she was into it
