Don't sit Rice.

Start Eli.

Despite the upgrades at WR, Rice is the conerstone of the Ravens offense. He's a top 3 back IMO. You can't sit him, even in week 1 against the Jets. FWIW, the Jet's didnt look too good this preseason, and I know it's not the regular season, but they are still too young to just completely flip the switch. I look for the Ravens to win the game, with Rice getting somewhere around 120 combined and a TD.

The Giants are going to be a throwing team this year with Bradshaw essentially getting long handoffs with screens and passes into the flats. Thier O-line is too broken down and soft to be a smashmouth team, so look for Eli to throw early and often to avoid pressure.

Who's next?

I think I would sit Pierre Thomas. Panthro and I are both really really high on Arian Foster this week (and likely for the whole season). Slaton is nursing an injury and will likely only touch the ball 5-10 times (mostly on 3rd downs), while Foster gets the majority of the work, including the goal line duties. Foster has looked like a beast this preseason, and I have no reason to believe we wont see more of the same on Sunday.

My league...week one starters and bench. I'm a noob to FF in general but I tried. Any advice?

QB Phillip Rivers
RB Adrian Peterson
RB Pierre Thomas
WR Chad Ochocinco
TE Dallas Clark
TE Zach Miller
DEF Ravens
K Neil Rackers
--------------------
BN Jeremy Maclin WR
BN Thomas Jones RB
BN Mike Wallace WR
BN Donovan McNabb QB
BN Chris Chambers WR
BN Sammy Morris RB
BN Vincent Jackson WR

I feel like I'm maybe thin at RB. :/ But I have good WR and TE depth

what round did you draft Vincent Jackson?

with only one WR spot, he might be worth hanging onto if he ever lands somewhere, but you might consider dropping him for an RB with a high ceiling

dude, every other NO back is injured and out except bush who really only does screen passes and ppunt returns. thomas is a feature back who will be getting ALL shortt yardage and goal line carries. guaranteed td and at least 80 total yards whereas benson wont see either of those

sit benson

TE Jason Witten
BN Shonn Greene
BN Jerricho Cotchery
BN Greg Olsen
BN Mario Manningham
BN Mark Sanchez
BN Devin Hester

K Ryan Longwell

DL Jared Allen
DB Adrian Wilson
LB Ray Lewis
BN Asante Samuel

^ That's a fairly solid team, not a very deep bench though. I've never been a big fan of 2QB leagues.

Ok, so I have two flex spots, PPR league, I'm already starting Gates and I'm thinking about playing V. Schiancoe in a flex as well instead of Sims-Walker or Cadillac Williams bc I think Schiancoe is going to get a lot of targets from Favre in game 1. Thoughts?

Is there any reason why you shouldn't start opposing players in a given week? For instance, AP and Pierre Thomas are my top two backs, and the saints and vikes play tonight....

^ nope its not really an issue. Both players could have big games. i think the only time to worry about that situation is if, for instance, you have AP and the Saints D.

Definitely not, but I would shy away from Pierre simply because he is going against that stout Vikings defense.

Tom Brady was in a two car accident this morning where the Jaws of Life had to be used to get him the other guy out. Apparently, he's fine, but who knows...

Monitor this closely, as it would clearly affect Brady, Moss and Welker's value for week 1.

I think he'll play, but that would suck.

I know this sounds like a stupid question based on the matchups but...

Vikings D @NO
or
Chargers D @KC

Will the Vikings sacks/ints make up for the points they most likely will give up, or do I trust KC not to score many points?

Brady was apparently "T-boned" at an intersection in Boston at 6:34 a.m. this morning. He was able to get out of his car and walk around after the crash, but a man in the back of the van had to be extricated with the "jaws of life." Brady refused medical treatment, but will surely be examined by Patriots doctors when he gets to Gillette Stadium. He was reportedly "shaken" and his Audi was towed from the scene. The Pats play the Bengals on Sunday"

sounds like it was bad for the van guy, but Brady is alright. We'll see though

^I'd go with the Chargers D

thats what I was thinking, but its hard to pass on someone playing the Bills. I have Frank Gore, which makes Charles my RB/WR, but my WR options to throw in his place are Hines Ward @ ATL, Jabar Gaffney @ Jac, and Mike Williams TB v Cle...stick with Charles right?

Greene for sure.
I actually like Williams @ BUF. Ronnie Brown is coming off of surgery and no one is sure how many snaps he will play in the first game. BUF has a terrible run defense. Last year the Dolphins won 38-10 with 250 yards rushing and 3TDS.

Charles may be limited due to KC playing from behind. In last years matchup KC had 4 players rush for a total of 120 yards and no TD.

I can only choose two RBs and I can't figure out who to start

Michael Turner vs Steelers
Ahmad Bradshaw vs Panthers
Shonn Greene vs Baltimore
Justin Forsett vs 49ers
LeSean McCoy vs Packers

I'm thinking Turner and Bradshaw but Forsett looks good too

^ I like Turner and Greene to start out of that bunch. Both are #1 RBs on run heavy teams. Bradshaw would be the third choice because Jacobs is right behind him as the power back, which means he could vulture the TDs. Jacobs was the starter last year so if Bradshaw fails to perform early in a close game he could get replaced.

I dont understand why people are so down on McCoy.

He is essentially Brian Westbrook 2.0

in a PPR league he will be good, he was good last year when Westbrook was out and now he is THE man in Philly. I just dont see why he wouldnt be a good option.

I think it has more to do with some many unproven variables (i.e. McCoy as a started, Kolb as a starter and the matchup he has in week one).

He'll be fine, but I don't think he's a better option than Turner.

I would say beware of Greene in week 1, specifically if the Jets get behind, which is a real possibility. Remember, Greene didnt catch one pass last year. LT could get in the game early and often if that were to happen.

Please answer the post above you before posting a question

^^^I'd go Cadillac, #1 RB only major threat to his carries is Kareem Huggins.

^^Moss, Floyd, Owens.
Q: Why not Mossaquoi?
A: Jake Delhomme

^ tough call, who are you dropping them for? Gaffney could be the surprise of the season at WR and Housh is a quality vet who will get solid numbers but never really wow you like Boldin might for the Ravens.

Advice needed on WR2 (Pick 1)

Bowe, Gaffney, Knox, Cotchery

Cadillac - #1 RB with a great matchup

Moss, Floyd, Mossaquoi. Not sold on Owens and his role yet and the Bengals will run first. The Bucs are an easier matchup...even with Delhomme as the QB.

Quote :

Housh. New team with alot of weapons means a limited role...at least initially.

Quote :

Gaffney with Knox as a close second. I could lean either way but I like Gaffney based on his preseason play. Knox has a great matchup with a pass first OC but Cutler is worse than Orten.

I'd be leaning towards Jones, as I think the Texans will have to throw to win and keep up with the Colts. I also think Andre will be getting heavy attention from the Colts secondary.

Also, while the Lions may be better this year, I think the Bears should be able to ground pound them out this week. Even if they throw, the bears have two better WR's in Knox and Aromadashu.

I could be off here, but I like Jones.

Let the beef begin. This is what we needed to get these two going, for real. It's like Biggie vs. Tupac.

Quote :
"Asked about Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on Thursday, Chris Johnson responded "I am the best back in the league and he is not," according to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean. He added, "I don't think it's close."

Coming off of a record breaking season, it's a good time for Johnson to make such claims. However, eager to prove his "down" 2009 season was a fluke, Peterson is surely hungrier than ever, and Johnson's comments will likely only to help to further his return to the top of the list of the NFL's best running backs. "

I love this.

You should never start Lee Evans.

also, when in doubt about WR's, it's usually helpful to look at who is throwing them the ball.

That should help ^ question.

___________

In other news...

Quote :
"Responding to negative comments made about the Jets by Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, New York head coach Rex Ryan said on Thursday, "It doesn't matter what he says in a negative light," according to the New York Daily News. "I still respect him. But we are going to try to smash him."

Always humble, that Rex Ryan is. Having his team thinking Super Bowl or bust, Ryan may want to consider beginning with slightly smaller step of qualifying for the playoffs without needing New York's final two opponents to stop trying in the second half. "
