just joined todaymkmeis don't really know what Im doing yet with the online play but Im at a level 19 with 1 b-spec driver at a 9 without any online play yet. Need Help!
3/2/2011 11:34:09 AM
now, you can either run your bspec guy yourself for credits and exp or put him online and let others use him in bob only races vs other bobs (bob = bspec driver) at higher levels you can have more than one bob. if your just starting out you will want to have him run races for your benefit of getting completion tickets and prize cars on top of exp and credits. also just starting out / new bobs will get destroyed by others and he wont progress as fast. you should put him online when you aren't going to be using him, and take him offline when you're not.as far as aspec goes you're better off in single player mode offline (do the seasonals! and bonus races!) for a bit so you can get nicer prize cars and credits/exp. (you get more for a-spec racing than you do online)

i started over after being a lvl 29 on a-spec and 28 on b-spec since i got my wheel.already back up to level 15 in 2 days

I'll throw out this invitation again if anyone's interested:I've organized a group of around 10 guys that have a race every 2-3 weeks with set requirements spelled out weeks in advance (for preparation). The races last 30-60 minutes and the goal is to have the cars as closely matched as possible. For example the first race was "spec Miata" of sorts around Trial Mtn Reverse, the 2nd race was Hot Hatchbacks around Grand Valley (with max hp min weight restrictions) and the 3rd race was an Evo versus STI grudge match around Eiger Nordward. Next up is American Muscles cars at Le Mans with a PP cap of 525.Besides myself Arab13, Specter, john kruk and Biofreak70 are all participants. It is a lot of fun b/c everyone is closely matched. And since PD modified the online rewards the payouts are pretty good (compared to A-spec races). The winner of the last race won 180k credits. And of the 3 races thus far we've had a different winner each time. The next race is in 2 or 3 weeks. If anyone's interested PM me.
3/11/2011 1:29:35 PM
aaaargh, I was really looking forward to that Evo vs. STI race and my connection dropped during lap 4 i put down a pretty good time (i think it was a 1:21) during qualifiers (this was when it was wet) and I was in the top 3 during the race. Oh well, lots of fun. TKE-Teg comes up with some pretty good race regulations, so its not like we're out there in fully built race cars every time. next one should be all stock minus wash/oil change.

i would like to get involved in the t-dub GT races if possible[Edited on March 13, 2011 at 2:32 PM. Reason : erice85 is my psn name]

done with the FGT, hopefully forever, won the first 2, second at monaco (screwed myself there too often to catch the leader, lost by 2 seconds), won on nurbergring pretty easily (AI keeps spinning out on one chicane pretty bad over and over), and won at Monza (narrowly, again i over cooked myself more than once), and skipped suzuka (as i was up 200+ points, and I hate that track).at some point ill go back and tune for suzuka and monaco specifically and finish them off, not that i needed the reward car either (UCD) ...now for the vettel challenge and eduro events... ugh.
3/14/2011 4:16:35 PM
ugh... this is so boringI'm currently cycling b/w 2 license test so I can fail them quickly and go back (5 total times)- this is the fastest way I have found to refill the UCD with new cars, but I still haven't gotten the one I'm waiting on. FUUUUUUUUUUhaha, I have also managed to buy about 15 other cars that I don't need, but that I like
3/14/2011 6:56:48 PM
what are you waiting on? one for the race?
3/14/2011 8:21:56 PM
i've already got a 135i that I might be able to use for the race. gonna see if anything interesting pops up in the UCD between now and then.
3/14/2011 9:00:48 PM
Finished the (B-Spec) 24 Hours of Le Mans last night. Bob performed admirably, winning by 30 laps on his way to a total of 350 laps in an FGT in a mostly rain soaked race. The credit reward is pretty lame but the experience points are quite the booty, almost 2.9 million. Also getting the Toyota GT-ONE race car isn't too shabby either.I think I've got my car picked out for Race #4 But not #5 yet...

Ding 29!
3/15/2011 4:50:58 PM
blah... I am not finding the car I need for the german racealso, is there a way to get the 2J without spending 15 million credits? I feel like that might be what is needed to win the historic race car race, but I can't afford it Note: I'm talking about the Bspec historic car race... winning it was no problem in the 7 myself in Aspec[Edited on March 16, 2011 at 1:14 PM. Reason : w]
3/16/2011 1:04:07 PM
^ one of the guys in the group is sharing one. you can "borrow" your friends' cars if they are shared. you'll have to tune it yourself though.that said, the 2J is a beast! its only a 3 speed but that thing handles like nothing else.[Edited on March 16, 2011 at 2:25 PM. Reason : ]
3/16/2011 2:22:47 PM
i used the old toyota racecar and tuned it some and had no problem winning on b-spec
3/16/2011 5:08:07 PM
I ended up borrowing the 2J and won cote d'azur no problem bspec... the problem I was having with the 7 was that it would spin out every lap at that one silly turn, no matter what I had it set at. I know TKE-Teg was having the same problem. But the 2J just flew through it no problem (no tuning needed).
3/16/2011 6:02:46 PM
b-spec? that one chicane after the the tunnel eh?
3/16/2011 11:26:07 PM
I just got a PS3 and GT5 this weekend. Loving the game. What was the talk about putting bob online when you're not using him? Don't you need to monitor him? Or just let him do his own thing and peace out?
3/16/2011 11:42:21 PM
^^ pretty sure thats it, my bob fucked up quite a few times there as well.^ if you have friends that play GT5, share your B-spec driver(s) so in case they ever do remote races they can enter your drivers.
3/16/2011 11:52:23 PM
Anyone have good basic tuning tips for people who aren't very knowledgeable about cars? I know general maintenance stuff about my own vehicle but nothing about performance tuning, so while I have heard terms like camber and toe angle and in some cases even know what they mean, I don't know what settings are appropriate for what kind of courses or what the ramifications of changing them are. I'm not even sure about the differences in handling between FR, FF, 4WD, etc.Likewise, are there good settings for playing with the controller rather than a wheel and pedals? I know the buttons are somewhat pressure sensitive, but it's so difficult not to always be either pedal to the metal on the gas or slamming the brakes and locking them up immediately.
3/23/2011 11:29:12 PM
look up a site called GTplanet- it is a great resource for everything gran turismo, and there is a tuning guide on there that can explain every facet of tuning... I also found one not to long ago that dumbs it down a lot, and I will see if I can find that for ya
3/24/2011 12:03:26 AM
Running B Spec Remote races today...so those of you that are PSN friends with me and have some drivers online will find some extra money and exp points later!

New Seasonals Posted yesterday, which is impressive given the problems in Japan.Regardless, these crap 5 race groupings they keep spitting out are tiresome. Especially give there are very few performance restrictions involved (thus no challenge). I long for the days when Seasonals #1 and 2 came out
3/25/2011 3:56:24 PM
too many others complained about them being too hard . . .i think they are aiming for monthly bonus races and weekly/biweekly seasonals
3/26/2011 4:52:24 PM
Heaven forbid people spend the time to become good at the game
3/26/2011 6:28:30 PM
Beat the Suzuka 1000 km Endurance race with a racing NSX-R. Took 6 hours 15 minutes
3/28/2011 7:44:31 PM
This weekend, my wife helpfully discovered that we've been playing the game this entire time using the emergency brake. This explained a lot of fish-tailing that we've gotten used to, but on the upside, once I relearn how to play with a brake that doesn't send me skidding all over the place, I fully expect to be fucking awesome.

shadowrunner, are you in the online 'LEAGUE' ? and for that matter are you on my buddies list?
3/29/2011 2:27:42 AM
Wow man, thats ridiculous lol. Had you gotten to the higher level races b/c I just can't imagine how difficult that would be.
3/29/2011 9:07:06 AM
^^ I haven't done any playing online, no; my PSN ID is djshadowrunner for anyone who wants to add me, though.^ I'm lvl 24 in A-spec right now and have gold trophies in most of the Expert races, but I haven't tried any of the Extreme Series yet because I didn't have a good race car or rally car. Going through the early stuff, I mostly stuck to using cars that I won unless I needed to buy something to qualify for a particular event. I should have saved up for a race car, but I bought the Mazda Furai concept car instead because it looks awesome. Once you get used to it, it's not that bad. I have a tough time braking quickly from top speed, obviously, but I've gotten good at drifting and using that to my advantage. I didn't really know better because I don't typically read manuals and haven't played a racing game since Gran Turismo 3 on PS2, so when X worked for gas and O worked for braking, I figured I was all set.
3/29/2011 7:34:00 PM
you can 'borrow' cars from your psn gt5 friends . . . just ask one of us and we can put up sweet rides for you to use for various races.i'll add you in a moment^ you win a furari[Edited on March 29, 2011 at 8:48 PM. Reason : w]

^&^^I filled out my online "garage" with some pretty sweet rides if you guys wanna borrow them. Ferrari F2007, Mazda 787B, McLaren F1 and a few others. Add me: dawson864^you all set for tonight's race? It's going to be our fastest and longest race thus far. It should be pretty sweet and I'm sure some mayhem will ensue! [Edited on March 30, 2011 at 9:27 AM. Reason : ^^You should always check an online resource for a prize car list, that way you don't waste millions]
3/30/2011 9:26:27 AM
^^^yeah man- check out gtplanet... they have a full prize car list- that mazda was a prize car (at least it was for me). and get in on our races! hit up TKE-Teg and he'll get you in the google group and then everyone can add you, you can race with us, load up your bspec drivers, and share our cars... it will help out a bunch!oh, and seasonals- do them!

3/30/2011 10:34:25 AM
You must have confused this thread with one for the arcade style Need for Speed series
3/30/2011 11:39:15 AM
Oh, looks like it's a B-spec prize, and only Amateur, no less. Ah well, I'll just give the prize car to my wife then, since she doesn't really do B-spec but likes the Furai when I drive it. Good to know about the prize lists online for future savings, though.Anyone have recommendations for what are some really good cars worth saving up to buy, then? Racers or rally cars that are better than the ones you can get as prizes?
3/30/2011 5:50:11 PM
Who wants to be my PSN friend so I can take advantage of our relationship?
3/31/2011 2:20:01 PM
z06 race moded is pretty goodother than that, you win some pretty useful cars (and it is up to your personal preference) - I like the Enzo, but I know plenty who don't. I would suggest keeping your eyes on the UCD- rare cars are rare, but will pop up in there. As you start winning more, doing seasonals, and doing bspec (especially leaving them online for other people to race) you will get plenty of money to buy anything you want... The only cars I haven't bought that I want are the Chaparel 2J and the Indy Cars (and a couple of random cars, like the Sauber).
