so according to what i've read here these two women are both the same height and weight (5'8", 140)i find it really genuinely interesting to see how muscle visually effects the body and also how different people carry weight.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 1:55 PM. Reason : 0]

Yep. That's why BMI is really a bad measurement of how well you look.

5/27/2010 2:05:22 PM
^you need a complete diet overhaulthose macros are awful
5/27/2010 2:11:25 PM
i think i will get in on this.
5/27/2010 2:11:43 PM
^^ That comment is not helpful. Tell me what to do and I'll do it. How am I supposed to change it if I don't know what's wrong?
5/27/2010 2:15:51 PM
I was waiting for you to ask Do you have any idea what your current body fat % is at?Also, what does your current routine (cardio, weights, etc) look like? Structured week to week? Does it change?
5/27/2010 2:18:13 PM
Running in 90 degree weather sucks. Now I'm gonna grab a shower and head to work.
5/27/2010 2:18:15 PM
I'm starting P90x in July, and the overall plan is to do three rounds of it. I want to be able to wash my clothes off my abs, anything short of that will be unsatisfactory.
5/27/2010 2:19:08 PM
^ what is your starting body fat % at?
5/27/2010 2:20:43 PM
^^loland packman. i may enlist your help in the future...depending on how this new plan works out.be prepared ps. does anyone have a body fat caliper that they trust that i can get?i got one and my bf was too low for it to measure accurately (this is not a braggy comment lol...my bf was at about 18% and the calipers i had went down to 10, but it was hard to use and pinch up the amount they wanted....and when i did get it to work - it said 30% )[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:23 PM. I'm ready whenever you areI have tons of clients who will attest to my effectiveness....(did that sound dirty?)
5/27/2010 2:23:04 PM
So, when I use the body fat percentage machine at LifeStyle, the machine tells me it's 17.5%. When the hospital folks do my calipered measurements at races, it's usually between 13 and 15%. And when my trainer used his little electroshock thing, it was always around 15 or 16%. I honestly have no clue about my actual body fat percentage. What does this look like?As for my workout, I run between 4 and 7 miles every single day. This is about to increase because my marathon training season starts in a week. After that, it will be between 4 and 20 miles a day, daily.I rarely touch weights, but I wakeboard and/or wakesurf at least twice a week. I also usually do yoga once a week.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:26 PM. Reason : .]

^^It seems your biggest problem is that you don't do weights. From what you described you want to look like that's really the only route you have left to explore. I def. wouldn't recommend losing weight as you already look pretty damn lean.My suggestion would be to up your protein...if that means you have to lower carbs a little to make it fit your calories than so be it. Leave fat right where it's at. I'd say you want 65g/day at a minimum. The hardest part for you may be adding in weights? Do you have ANY experience? Can anyone show you how to do stuff?Oh, and what Lifestyles do you workout at?Also I train a competitive marathon/ultra marathoner (goes 2:47 in a marathon) who I've had REDUCE his amount of running and add in 3 days of weight training and his times have gotten faster across the board...recovery is off the wall as well...and he's in his 40s[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:28 PM. 5/27/2010 2:29:21 PM
PackMan, this was yesterday for me ... according to livestrong, my protein is already high. And carbs are fairly low.And I used to weight-train when I was a shot putter in high school. Would rather do other forms of exercise if there are alternatives. And I'm already at 74 grams of protein, or 226%, today already. And I would like to improve my run times! Oh, and LifeStyle in Winter Park, Florida.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:33 PM. Reason : .]

I do some weights, but only about ten minutes per day. And it's really just pushups and situps. Also, weights are boring and there must be some sort of fun workout that would build muscles that doesn't require me to be in a gym.[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:36 PM. Reason : .]
5/27/2010 2:34:45 PM
If pushups, situps, pullups, and running are good enough for marines... it's really just a question of consistency, diet, and intensity.
5/27/2010 2:36:44 PM
Lucy, i hate weights too. i rather do cardio.
5/27/2010 2:41:02 PM
I wish there was a sport that could do the job of weights!Maybe Body Pump class is a good option?
5/27/2010 2:42:32 PM
I would do weights in a heartbeat - just don't have access to a gym.And I am beyond accident prone - so doing free weights is a recipe for disaster

^^Look into Crossfit. My sister got bored with normal weightlifting. Now she's in love with Crossfit, does competitions, and is becoming a certified Crossfit trainer. You're still lifting weights, but it's more kettlebells, pull-ups, push-ups, type lifting.
5/27/2010 2:45:06 PM

5/27/2010 2:53:46 PM
if you want all that extra bullshit for $$$ than yes, Lifetime is betteryou're not gonna build much muscle boxing...most boxing gyms actually do some kettlebell stuff and conditioning type stuff...so THAT would help...but not boxing itself[Edited on May 27, 2010 at 2:55 PM. Reason : ]
