it's a weird debate. On one side, the administration could respond with, "has their been another murder in the 5+ years since the tailgating restrictions were implemented?"But on the other side it's like, "was their a murder in the previous 100 years of tailgating prior to that one Richmond game when there were no restrictions?" ]
7/12/2010 9:55:53 AM
its bogus. a 5 hour restriction has absolutely 0 to do with stopping a shooting. it was the knee jerk reaction of the higher ups as a response.Related topics:#9/11#wariniraq6 years later its time to live in fear no longer! Its really only matters 2-3 games a year, since while we're a mediocre team, they love to give us noon kickoffs, so this doesn't come in to playAnd its really not a big deal for the 3.30 games, since not too many people are going to get out there before 10.30 anywayIt only matters for the night games, when people like to come out before noon, set up the dish, watch a full day of games while drinking and stuffing their face to their hearts contentand their robbing us of that god given liberty
7/12/2010 10:07:10 AM
it totally comes into play. I would be out there before 7 if it was allowed. wasn't the game during which the shooting occured a noon game? or maybe 3:30? i can't remember, time + beer = shitty memory.
7/12/2010 11:10:12 AM
It was a 6:00 game I believe. We usually schedule the early-in-the-season D-2 schools at 6:00.
7/12/2010 11:43:24 AM
yes it was a 6pm game vs richmond. 42-0
7/12/2010 11:51:08 AM
ok, so i have a bad memory.the one good thing that has come from that shooting is the increased police presence in the fairgrounds lot. at least now if a fight breaks out, they can do their jobs and deal with it.
7/12/2010 1:35:20 PM
oops. missed that in the college football thread. [Edited on July 12, 2010 at 2:56 PM. Reason : my fault]

i just watched last years game against UNC againplease TOB, don't keep Chris Ward suspended for the season. I can't handle another season of Ruiz punting. Good fucking lord. There has got to at least be some walk-on option that would be better than him.
7/13/2010 11:50:57 AM
^I saw on PP that a poster on there claims they've heard good things about Ward being reinstated for the season. Honestly getting caught with an open container in the passenger seat underage shouldn't be something he's suspended long-term for anyway.
7/13/2010 12:21:46 PM
^99.9 was going on and on yesterday about how that UNC linebacker marijuana possession thing was no big deal and at most the guy should be suspended for one series. Kick the persecution complex knob up to 11 and I figure they'd be for yanking 60 scholarships had that been one of ours.
7/13/2010 2:55:19 PM
didn't we have four guys get caught w/ marijuana?
7/13/2010 3:06:49 PM
Oh yeah, forgot about that.Guess they'll be sitting out a series.
7/13/2010 3:10:41 PM
and our guys had rented a pot den, pretty much an apartment for the sole purpose of smoking weed (hopefully not for distribution). This is one case where we shouldn't be throwing stones UNC's way... even though Sturdivant is a huge doucher.
7/13/2010 3:16:04 PM
It shouldn't be a big deal.
7/13/2010 3:16:25 PM
7/13/2010 4:22:43 PM
^I'm not trying speculate one way or another. I just got that from one of the news articles which detailed the charges...http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/local&id=7406536
7/13/2010 4:42:24 PM
LOL, the maintaining a dwelling charge in no way means they rented that apartment solely to smoke weed. If you get caught with drugs in a car they can charge you with maintaining a vehicle, if you get caught with drugs in a house they can charge you with maintaining a dwelling.
7/13/2010 4:45:36 PM
^forgive my ignorance of such things. Like I said, I don't know anything about it and I read a bunch of commentary and adjacent articles where this charge was blown out of proportion.
7/13/2010 4:53:03 PM
i bet kuhn was a little miffed. He probably told the cops: "In Germany this is legal...schiza!"

Fucking hell @ Ruiz
7/18/2010 3:44:36 AM
7/18/2010 10:43:33 AM
ok, then maybe I'm confused. What is the problem? We just signed the #2 punter in the nation, who cares if we have Ward or Ruiz?
7/19/2010 1:15:15 PM
We haven't signed the #2 punter, he's committed to come in 2011. He won't be there this fall.

if Ward couldn't have beaten out Ruiz, then there is a magnificent problem with that kid who was touted as a phenomenal puntereither way, he's gone nowSIX YARD PUNT

ooooooooooooooooooooo, I see
7/19/2010 2:43:44 PM
God you know our football team sucks when we spend 2 pages of a thread arguing about the punter and wondering what our options are. WTF?

7/19/2010 4:00:57 PM
If Wilson were to win an award like the Manning or Davey O'Brien Award then he would solidify him getting his name on the side of the West upper deck and having his number retired. I doubt it goes to him though because it'll probably go to some QB at a football powerhouse that is a media darling, even if his numbers aren't better than Wilson's.
