Okay, well the P0001 isn't particularly surprising.

4/004 - Snow Depth on Ground: Total snow on ground even with melting, compression and blowing away
933030 - Water Equivalent of solid precip from the last 6 hours
P0001 - precip from the last hour
60020 - precip from the last six hours.

The 933030 and 60020 should match but they don't.

I took the NWS raleigh accumulation totals and compared them to my forecast. I don't have totals from the other states otherwise I would have included them as well:

Snow was cool when it meant getting out of school. Now, it means missing work and not being able to do anything fun over the weekend. If I could live in a place where it never snowed (or got extremely cold), I probably would.

Yea, I'm seeing a potential snow-maker on Friday and Saturday, but I tend to be skeptical.

Anyone want to make an early call (and I know you all do)?

If you don't want to be inconvenienced then buy an AWD vehicle and put snow tires (or winter minded all season tires) on it every winter. You won't have a problem getting around.

Alot has changed in the models since sunday night and monday. The storm looks like crap for us now. Snow/rain mix at best for most.

btw the map I posted above with the NWS totals was for the last storm and how my forecast in NC compared to what actually fell. It has nothing to do with this weekend.

Here's what I've got in DC for this weekend:

"A winter storm watch is in effect from Friday morning through Saturday evening. This storm is likely to produce 12 or more inches of snow with a good chance for localized amounts over 20 inches. This storm has the potential to be similar to the Dec. 19 storm."

The Dec. 19 storm dropped two feet of snow on me.

People are flipping out here in DC. Latest forecast is 18-26 inches.

From one of the news channels:
Quote :
"It is hard to believe that we're about to see another storm like we saw in December -- usually a once in several year occurrence. But it's real and it's becoming increasingly likely that a historic event is in the cards. If you have any doubts, check out this afternoon's satellite shot showing amazing moisture feeds into what is already a gigantic system. The time is now to make final preparations as we are less than 24 hours out from the start."

Also, this is fun:

Northeast pwnt, stay home. Unfortunately I'm in Philly right now

Any of the weather know-it-alls have any idea when its going to start getting really nasty up here? I was able to change my flight to 3:35pm tomorrow ( it was 8:45pm before) but I'm not too confident about my chances right now.
