I cannot believe spain didn't score at least one goalglad they didn't though
6/24/2009 4:25:11 PM
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTawesome win. hopefully we can keep this up now, not sure where the urgency to start playing again came from, but im glad its there.though i think we got lucky as hell to win...i dont even want to begin to count how many shots were blocked today. they wont always get blocked, but w00t anyway. gg usa!
6/24/2009 4:25:28 PM
so sweet, i did not see that coming. that red card on bradley was complete bullshit tho, it shouldn't have even been a yellow, he got the ball.

spain walked off without trading jerseys...fuck themI hope rossi has fun watching us in the finals (even thou he's got a much better chance at us watching him in the finals for the world cup...but still)
6/24/2009 4:30:04 PM
anyone notice we are winning without beasley fucking us up out there...hopefully he is done with the national team for good
6/24/2009 4:31:22 PM
I love this:
6/24/2009 4:31:46 PM
I know it's just the CC, but this is still awesome. Now I'm excited about August 12th in Mexico City! Hopefully we can pull the draw.
6/24/2009 4:33:18 PM
^^
6/24/2009 4:34:35 PM
Bradley has been one of our consistently good players in this tournament, he will be a big loss for any chance we had against Brazil.
6/24/2009 4:38:35 PM
Go South Africa!
6/24/2009 4:38:43 PM
id rather not play south africa in south africa...if we lose the final i want us to play someone worth a damn, and not someone who is worse than us but only fueled on by the home crowd
6/24/2009 4:39:46 PM
*yawn*
6/24/2009 4:40:10 PM
hey heres an idea. let me go post in every baseball/basketball/hockey/football thread just cause i dont like the sport. that will make me look cool
6/24/2009 4:42:00 PM
Replay tonight at 11, yes? I'm at work, and tvguide.com won't load for me right now.
6/24/2009 4:47:40 PM
something like that. i think 11...you are gonna see a ton of spain shots and a couple by us though...
6/24/2009 4:48:42 PM
soccer is cool[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 4:55 PM. Reason : ignoring me will make me go away]
6/24/2009 4:54:30 PM
So is trolling.
6/24/2009 4:56:22 PM
maybe one day, people in the United States will actually care about soccermaybe
6/24/2009 4:57:20 PM
<-- in Brazil.. if the US plays Brazil no matter who wins i lose on some level.
6/24/2009 4:58:03 PM
Shit's weak, TwistaSHIT'S WEAK
6/24/2009 5:00:24 PM
I don't get what Twista seeks to gain from raining on the Soccer fans' parade.
6/24/2009 5:03:15 PM
An argument.
6/24/2009 5:04:02 PM
i say ignoring me will make me go awayyou all read thatand dont ignore mesmart guysits also funny how defensive soccer fans get when someone dares to say nobody cares about their sport (which most people dont)i cant recall the last time an NFL fan got all defensive when somebody said they didnt like the NFL...they'd usually just laugh at them[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 5:05 PM. Reason : for real, ignoring me in this thread will make me go away in this thread]
6/24/2009 5:04:30 PM
More people care about soccer than do about the Charlotte Bobcats.
6/24/2009 5:06:25 PM
6/24/2009 5:06:28 PM
* most Americans don'tAnd I get defensive when people do it about baseball too... are you that hard up for an argument? Just respond to Chance once or twice and you'll get one about any topic.
6/24/2009 5:06:34 PM
Soccer is a great sport to have on in the background when you're doing something elseBecause the announcers always raise their voice when goal might happen, so you don't miss the 2-3 big plays a game
6/24/2009 5:08:46 PM
i care about as much about the bobcats as i do about soccernice tryps: the Philadelphia Eagles are a bunch of fagsseriously though soccer is pretty sweet if you are 12 years old and are too white to play other sportsor if you grew up in a 3rd world country where thats all they hador if you are just using it as a stepping stone to become an NFL punter or kicker

6/24/2009 6:41:59 PM
^baseball is not remotely on the same scale as football (soccer). You've got the US and then you've got Japan/Korea/China
6/24/2009 7:35:45 PM
yeah cause no latin american nations play baseball..............and most people in the world might eat rice, does that mean its the best food
6/24/2009 7:37:45 PM
6/24/2009 7:48:15 PM
I certainly do not give a shit what anyone thinks about soccer. I'm glad Twista's posting in here. It bumps the thread and makes it easier for me to find. Thanks buddy. Keep up the good work. What do you think about soccer again? Back to the subject matter, I missed the game. Why do I always have to be working when the good shit is going down? I did manage to catch some of the updates between legs. Guess I'll watch the replay at 11pm. I need to see how they kept Spain from scoring. I assume a lot of missed opportunities on Spain's part and a a pretty good performance from Howard?[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 7:56 PM. Reason : interrogative]
6/24/2009 7:51:20 PM
^^^no matter how you try and spin it...you lose. Football (soccer to you) isn't the number 1 sport world wide for nothing [Edited on June 24, 2009 at 7:51 PM. Reason : ^]
6/24/2009 7:51:35 PM
Who will start in Bradley's spot?
6/24/2009 7:51:46 PM
6/24/2009 7:54:15 PM
fuck why are you letting him troll the shit out of youWE BEAT SPAIN It wasn't lucky either, it's exactly what Lalas said after the game - we had a game plan and it fucking worked to perfection. We didn't bunker 90 minutes... and we came out the first 10-15 with some serious chances. I mean, yeah, they were pressing in the 2nd half, but it's Spain, we all knew they'd come up with some chances from somewhere. Props to everybody on the team but in particular - LANDON DONOVAN (please show up like this all the time... he has been amazing all tournament, I hope he gets some serious looks from Europe), Dempsey, Demerit/Gooch were rock solid, and Bradley was everywhereabsolute terrible red card though, that shit pisses me off so bad... and of course it was the same asshole from the 06 Italy game - now we're going to have to play Kljestan/Clark in the midfieldoh well... I haven't been this stoked about a single game since the Portugal game in 02, and I'll get off Bradley's back now (as long as Beasley stays off the field)[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 8:03 PM. Reason : whoooo-hooo]
6/24/2009 7:55:54 PM
So is there a chance they can appeal the red card to FIFA? To me that was the worst straight red I have seen in a while, and was definitely some bias by that ref who doesn't seem to like the US. It seems FIFA is trying to end slide tackling and physical play as a whole which is bad for the US because physical play is one of our strengths.
6/24/2009 8:08:11 PM
I don't think FIFA rescinds reds very often, that's more common in England I think[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 8:19 PM. Reason : another sweet pic]
6/24/2009 8:14:39 PM
completely serious post here:i will pull for the USA over any other country in any sporting event...i'm not a huge olympics fan, but I hope we do wellwith that said, I just couldnt really get into the game today even though i am supposed to or somethingthats my honest opinion
6/24/2009 8:28:11 PM
EPIC Win...I missed the game b/c of work, but as soon as I heard the result on the radio while driving home, I was in shock. This is arguable the greatest win ever in USA soccer.
6/24/2009 8:39:15 PM

Reason : I could watch this shit all day]
6/24/2009 8:43:31 PM
oh and b4c...THIS is all I wanted to see from the US - heart, effort, strong tactics - all that was missing in the first two games and actually winning was just an added bonus. Sure we had some lucky breaks but with those three things, we have enough talent to win big games and avoid being demolished, regardless of opponent. I'm not expecting us to beat Spain and Brazil every game now or anything but it's proof that we're capable of playing "the big boys" without looking like a pub team.We should be past the "we're not talented enough" excuse from now on and hold our players and coaches accountable. That's all I'm going to say about Bradley from now on as this win has earned him some serious credibility.
6/24/2009 9:25:49 PM
I don't know, I still disagree with the Connor Casey sub, I think he brings nothing to the team when he plays, and i don't think he should see the field although I don't know what other forwards we have on the roster eventhough he's listed as a defender.
6/24/2009 9:46:51 PM
how is this structured so that we are in the "finals" right now and got destroyed in the first two games?
6/24/2009 10:03:18 PM
Yeah, definitely a weird sub, but it's a minor complaint. I think once Altidore/Davies get consistent games and develop the fitness needed to go a full 90, we won't have to worry about another sub because the Dempsey-to-forward and Feilhaber in the midfield sub looks like it's a perfect second half switch at the moment. It would be nice to have somebody other than Casey to bring on if needed though... Cooper maybe?duh, I forgot about Ching - as much as some of us hate on him, he's a severe upgrade over Casey. I have no problems with him as our 4th (behind Dempsey) option[Edited on June 24, 2009 at 10:15 PM. Reason : CHING]
