I FINALLY finished it yesterday, the ending was epic and I can't wait for ME3. I didn't know that you could actually do all the romance things, I figured you could only pick one. I originally chose to bwn Jack as a one night stand, then have the relationship with Miranda. After the final mission though, I hooked up with Kelly, then hooked up with Tali too, hahaha. My commander Shepard was a total man-whore.
4/12/2010 11:49:47 AM
I'm going to start my Insanity playthrough with a biotic. Should be interesting.
4/13/2010 9:58:31 PM
Just beat it finally. I got 43 of 51 achievements on 360, but it cheated me out of the "kill enemies with 5 heavy weapons" one because I killed that collector thing that tears into the hull of the ship on the final mission with the big nuke gun, and it didn't count it as a kill. All of my peeps survived, but all of the other non essential crew members were killed.I enjoyed this one a lot more than ME1 (and I liked that one a lot).

I think the only ones you can save are the doctor and the secretary. If you wait too long to go into the relay (which I did because I wanted to get all the loyalty missions) the secretary dies brutally when you get to the final mission. Then in the final mission I sent that doctor back to the Normandy without an escort because I didn't want to risk any of the main people dying, and she didn't make it.
4/29/2010 3:33:43 PM
You can save your little personal assistant girl (can't remember her name) who gives you updates right beside the galaxy map if you IMMEDIATELY go through the Relay as soon as you are given the chance.and always, ALWAYS send Mordin back to the Normandy]
4/29/2010 3:37:44 PM
You save all of them if you go immediately after they are taken. And I mean immediately, no quick stops at Illium or Omega and crap.
4/29/2010 4:39:03 PM
but i need to buy some fish and model ships!]
4/29/2010 4:53:14 PM
4/29/2010 5:00:18 PM
^yeah I've heard whoever you send back always has some type of random chance of dying, so you might be able to get away with it depending on luck, etc, but Mordin is kind of the fool proof
4/29/2010 5:08:31 PM
I'm almost done playing Red Dead and would like to trade straight up for ME 2 if anyone is interested. PM me.
6/18/2010 5:00:15 PM
I might have to play this for a couple hours this evening, pre-mountage
6/18/2010 5:01:55 PM
I was half way through this game and my game profile got corrupted somehow and now I have to start entirely over. FUCK THAT SHIT.
6/18/2010 8:51:33 PM
Lol I've played this game all the way through 3 times, and halfway through 3 more times.
6/18/2010 8:59:30 PM
Lol, I got halfway through and already felt like Im wasting my life away.
6/18/2010 9:11:05 PM
Obviously you aren't an RPG player
6/18/2010 9:14:55 PM
I am, pretty much the only genre I really play. But I also have a job, a car and a girlfriend.
6/18/2010 9:45:28 PM

It's on sale on Stream right now
6/19/2010 3:31:09 PM
Yo I heard there's a special on Steam for Mass Effect 1 and 2
6/19/2010 3:52:08 PM
After hearing all the raves about this game, I played through the first and just started this one. It's a HUGE step up. I love the world they've created (what kept me playing the first game) and all the people in it.
6/19/2010 10:15:53 PM
Haha I mass relay jumped into Local Cluster and after mining some minerals from Pluto and Neptune, I continued to work my way outside-into the solar system, and got to Uranus...before sending any probes, it said it was Depleted, but I scanned around and found a little pocket of activity...and when I sent the probe, EDI is like "Really, commander?" Then on the 2nd one she reluctantly says "probing Uranus"
6/20/2010 7:37:17 PM
I'm getting rather close to beating the game on Insanity...I just acquired the Reaper IFF and I may or may not have done Legion's loyalty mission, can't rememberI think all I have left to do is Suicide Mission, which will probably be a total pain in the ass, but oh wellPlaying back through the story though makes me want ME3 to come out soon!
6/22/2010 12:38:09 PM
Solider, level 30, Insanity playthrough completedThe only shitty thing is I've already discovered 100% of the planets in all systems and dont have any more missions to do or things to buyall i can really do is feed my fish, or fuck Morinth and die
6/24/2010 3:48:36 PM
I beat Mass Effect on Xbox 360 but since it has died. I really would like to play through #2 on my PC. Will I be missing a lot if I don't have a save game from from ME1?
6/24/2010 6:49:43 PM
The main thing you'll miss out on by not being able to import your ME1 character is an initial bonus in both Paragon and Renegade, and credits, and I think some elementsThe smaller things you will miss are when you encounter some of the characters from ME1, you won't have a past with them. But if you beat ME2, you can use that character to start a new ME2 game (you can change character type, etc) and you will get some good money and element bonuses
6/24/2010 7:56:33 PM
Want to start a 2nd playthrough debating being sentinel or soldier. Suggestions?
6/25/2010 12:05:27 AM
^^^ You could do what I did, get Mass Effect 1 on PC and beat it again so you'll have a save for ME2. Steam is having daily sales between now and july 4th, ME is certain to be there for $5 or $7.50 sometime soon, and ME2 will probably be on sale the same day. However, if you don't want to do that, there are websites that let you download ME1 saves, you can choose the one closest to what you did (and you're allowed to change the look and class at the start of the game, so just pick the sex, a name you like, and the choices you want to have made).^ those two are the most powerful classes. I though sentinel was a bit more fun, but you can't go wrong with either.Sentinel has warp and overload, the best tech power plus the best biotic power. It's also got tech armor which is beastly, much better than barrier/fortitude/geth armor.[Edited on June 25, 2010 at 1:02 AM. Reason : ]

need to break this back out and do my insanity playthrough + the DLC.
6/25/2010 8:14:41 AM

6/25/2010 2:27:04 PM
not me...hey when the game first came out, wasnt the "Gain the Loyalty of the Thief" achievement already included, even though you have to get certain DLC to even unlock the thief?
6/25/2010 2:39:14 PM
i dont know
6/25/2010 2:39:50 PM
I bought this on sale.Holy shit this game is amazing.I mean holy shit this game is amazing amazing. And it looks great on my gaming PC.
6/25/2010 6:20:04 PM

6/25/2010 6:22:51 PM

6/25/2010 6:24:53 PM
Also when do I start laying all these chicks because I know it's coming, it's a BioWare game.
6/25/2010 6:25:33 PM
the main relationships are gonna tease you for awhile until you get further along in the main storyline
6/25/2010 6:39:07 PM

What is the best strategy for playing Vanguard? I thought I played this class last time, but I believe what I actually played was Adept. I'm only a couple hours in, but the Pistol and SMG I have are weak and the only time I can use Charge is when I am facing at most 2 lines of enemies because otherwise I'm left too vulnerable. Basically what I do now is get people in the air with Pull two-three times and shoot them with my crappy weapons. I feel like I must be using Charge wrong, but it leads to death more times than not.How should I be playing this?
6/28/2010 11:59:52 AM
Vanguard really kinda sucks (badly) on higher difficulties. On Insanity, the only time you have to survive after using Charge is the second or two of invincibility that kicks in when your shields go down. Even on normal difficulty it's not a great class since their powers aren't really very good compared to things like Soldier, Infiltrator, and Sentinel (...and adept, and engineer). It's basically the worst class in the game, unless you think that having a shotgun makes up for being terrible in every other way.Charge isn't particularly useful until you get it to level 3 or 4 and have researched some cooldown-reduction... and at Charge 4, choose the option that gives you time slowdown. The basic strategy becomes Charge -> Shotgun nearest enemy -> Wait a little bit for cooldown (either by standing and fighting or taking cover, depending on the situation) -> Repeat. With a short enough cooldown, it's basically sustainable forever since Charge restores your shield a bit. When shotgunning after charge, if you knocked away the charge target and there's a nearby enemy still standing, shoot the one that's still standing. When you get the chance to pick a teammate-based ability (if you haven't already), go with Reave or Energy Drain. Reave does good direct-damage to barriers, and it incapacitates and steals health from unshielded enemies. Energy Drain does good direct-damage to shields (and can outright kill unshielded synthetics) and restores your own, and it's also the only ability a Vanguard can have for hurting shielded enemies. Both of those skills help to make up for the vanguard's two biggest weaknesses (lack of direct damage and lack of survivability).Shockwave, while not a great skill, is your most useful skill besides Charge, Assault Mastery, and a teammate skill. It has good range, does a little bit of damage, lifts unshielded enemies a bit like Pull does, and best of all it causes shielded enemies to recoil and stand up out of cover. I recommend never using Pull or upgrading it at all. Don't upgrade Cryo Ammo at all. In general, for all classes/powers in ME2, if it can only hit someone who is in Health range (meaning they have no shields or armor or barrier), it sucks and you shouldn't upgrade it... the reasons for this being that if they are in health range, they ought to die from an upgraded direct-damage skill in one hit or from a couple of bullets to the face, so there's little need to use both a skill AND bullets on one already weak enemy. (Note: Supposedly playing on lower difficulties means that fewer enemies use protections like Armor/Shield/Barrier, so maybe they're useful then... otherwise they're only useful on Husks, who die quickly anyway.) Unfortunately, the Vanguard has no direct-damage biotic abilities and very few long-range options...As for weapons, I recommend never using your SMG until you unlock the second one (this goes for basically every class in the game), using the longest-range shotgun possible (I think it's a DLC shotgun) until you can get the Krogan shotgun (happens in a plot-related weapon training/upgrade event), and just sitting back pistoling if you aren't charging and don't want to waste shotgun ammo. Use whichever pistol you like best, though personally I prefer the one with the higher ammo capacity.
6/28/2010 1:10:08 PM
Only charge if there's cover near the person you're charging at.The 2nd SMG you get is actually pretty good, but until then I'd stick with the eviscerator shotgun (the one that's DLC) and heavy pistol.Vanguard is really fun but it can be very hard.
6/28/2010 1:13:14 PM
I used the glitch to max out my stats before my insanity playthrough...they patched the glitch but I did it before they patched it...you can also clear your cache and decline the update temporarily while you use it if you want...made things a lot easier on Insanityhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZAq7wcweUQ
6/28/2010 1:58:31 PM
Those are my thoughts about the Vanguard too, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Sucks that I picked it, because Adept was really fun.
6/28/2010 2:08:23 PM
I had a blast with Vanguard, but I did not play Insanity yet. I actually used the melee a lot in combination with the charge, and made sure to get the strength/melee upgrades when possible. Charge, melee, shotgun or vice versa would usually do the trick, and it keeps the enemy stunned unless they were Krogan. I did Area charge since it stuns or pushes everyone back and gives you a chance to get out of the kill zone. Definitely need to be smart with your charges but they can quickly turn the battle in your favor.Shockwave was my main skill though. I would use it constantly, it is incredibly versatile in that it can hit anyone no matter their elevation or cover. Pull is very shitty. For weapons, I used pistols mostly except when close enough to make the shotgun a viable option, and I used the more powerful shotgun over the long range ones. I never used the SMG, I found them very unreliable. Pistols you can get headshots and it is fairly useful for medium distance. I did not get the Krogan shotgun, I opted for the sniper rifle and used it to compensate for the Vanguard's lack of a long-range option. Or, ^^^
