They're still roamin around my neighborhood doing $100 Visa card + $125 Cut-the-Cable promo...Oh, and we now have 2HD/2SD in the neighborhood... That was scary quick! I complained last week and it was done! Amazing!Side Note: I love this U-verse customer service thing they got going on. Every single question I've had this past week with my new service has been answered by ONE person. Billing, rewards, techinical, all of it. I didn't have to get the call transferred 10 times. I'm liking that

Yea, I am somewhat charismatic I guess ... but I do tell them that I will leave if they can't give me a lower rate. I'm not lying, I would switch, but so far they haven't forced my hand.Right now I'm just considering a new option since I've been hearing great stuff about the quality of U-Verse.
7/29/2009 10:33:03 PM
how much damage do they do to a house when installing?
7/31/2009 5:27:42 PM
it's just a cable outlet on the wall, just like TWC has.
7/31/2009 5:28:20 PM
I meant to the exterior of the house. How do they run it in?
8/1/2009 1:07:13 PM
it comes over your existing phone lines.
8/1/2009 1:25:01 PM
^They can also use the co-ax wires
8/1/2009 5:36:41 PM
Just added their VOIP option... so tired of the ever increasing rates and ever decreasing quality with Vonage.
8/2/2009 12:11:39 AM
The message on their website now:

How long does it take to get the $200 cash back?
8/2/2009 5:33:46 PM
I signed up about 2 weeks ago, my $100 visa card is supposedly coming in the mail. And my $125 cut-the-cable promo is coming after 30-days of U-verse service (guess they want to make sure you really did cut your previous provider).
8/3/2009 10:19:20 AM
Can they do the setup and everything for a HDTV without the TV actually being there? We are getting hooked up Aug 11th but I won't be there until the 13th or 14th with the actual TV..
8/3/2009 5:43:55 PM
^I think they could do it, but won't be able to verify that its actually working. From what I remember the only thing he did with the tv was show us all the features and shit. He had a laptop for messing with the gateway and all that stuff.
8/3/2009 6:57:05 PM
i got a card from them in my mailboxtime to look up my address and see if i'm no eligible or if they are mocking me![Edited on August 3, 2009 at 9:22 PM. Reason : verdict: FUCK YEAH BOI!]

good point dnlwhere the hell is the coverage map?
8/4/2009 12:10:02 AM
it takes time to roll this out and I'm pretty sure they have some convoluted reason of why it's so spotty right now. might be a little to spotty to do a coverage map right now as wellhow about someone with some photoshop skills or the like take a map and start making a coverage map? I think you'll have a pretty good start by looking through this thread and seeing who has it and where. or just ask people to post where.I'll start, Lake Park (Raleigh) and The Strafford (Cary) both have it [Edited on August 4, 2009 at 9:49 AM. Lineberry around trailwood hills and sierra has itthey did the outside install yesterday, and should be here any time to do the inside install... can't wait to call TWC and tell them to F- off
8/4/2009 11:28:55 AM
up and running... and i love it...
8/4/2009 2:58:03 PM
I've talked to 3 different techs (when they were doing work for me) and none of them have it available at their house yet. They said AT&T is not releasing too much info because the last thing they want is a lot of buzz in the general public, being flooded with calls, and having to turn them away because service is unavailable.
8/5/2009 12:39:53 AM
Ok ... so something I didn't realize ... UVerse REQUIRES that I have a television plan. I don't spend $50/month of my time watching television, and what I do watch can be pulled OTA from HD feeds or Netflix'd or Hulu'd. Good for them making money, bad for me.Nevermind. Guess I'm still stuck with Time Warner *sigh*
8/5/2009 11:45:33 AM
Why would you want U-Verse if you don't want TV? The whole point to it is IPTV. Just order a high speed DSL data line.
8/5/2009 2:10:48 PM
Because I want their high-speed fiber dataplan ... the fastest dataplan for DSL is 6Mbps/768Kbps ... whereas RoadRunner is slightly faster ... but the fiber through U-Verse tops both of those easily.I don't think it's too much to ask.
8/5/2009 2:16:44 PM
i just found out that through the interactive stuff, I can set it up with my fantasy football league info, and it will be like having my own personal "bottom line" on the tv with all the league info
8/5/2009 3:20:06 PM
lol that's badass
8/5/2009 3:52:55 PM
^^Thats awesome. I'm gonna have to look into that.
8/5/2009 7:01:11 PM
what other charges do they tack onto the bill (taxes, etc.) besides what they list on this site?in other words, what is the real cost?

^Thanks, I honestly thought I'd clicked that before, but it must've been after I clicked a bundle plan then customized and it won't let you "un-bundle". After I couldn't get it to work, I even called them and they said they couldn't just sell me the internet package, so I nicely called BS and said have a nice day But yea, thanks, going to sign up for it now, I think I'm willing to pay $43 for a dedicated fiber of 6Mbps ... even though the overall download speed is less, the increased upload is worth it. Who knows, maybe they'll raise the limits in the future too, one can always hope.
8/6/2009 12:04:52 AM
I'm signed up for the internet only plan. $43 - $5 = $38 for attaching it to my cell bill. 6/1 U/D with no installation fee. You can't get cheaper than that.
8/6/2009 10:42:28 AM
^and no contract.
8/6/2009 11:00:31 AM
Ok here's how I managed to get internet only (6Mbps/1Mbps at $43/mo in Cary) and got them to drop the $150 installation charge (for anyone else that is so inclined)Called up U-Verse customer service and asked to talk to someone that could help me setup new service.Told them I was switching from Time Warner for the higher upload speeds and stability of U-Verse, so DSL wouldn't work (they do try to sell you that), and that I never watch television and therefore do not want to pay for it. They'll try to sell you, just keep being polite while saying no thank you. Eventually they will concede and give you internet only, BUT there is a $150 installation charge.YMMV, but my representative told me that he'd sign me up for the basic television at $20/mo (online it reports it at $49/mo, so this is a special pricing) to bring my overall bill to $63/mo and that would automatically waive the installation charge--they're really trying to push bundled services here. He then told me that he couldn't actually tell me this, but I would only have to call in after installation and cancel my television service for my bill to drop down to $43/mo.I had a to do a bit of negotiation to get around their desire to bundle everything, but it worked like a charm and I'll gladly pay the $20 "installation charge".Oh, and here's a bonus that I only recently discovered, a free AT&T Wifi hotspot account. That makes it even easier for me to justify moving from Time Warner.^And right, no contract, but the price is guaranteed for 24 months.[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 11:12 AM. Reason : contractually speaking...]
8/6/2009 11:07:32 AM
seems like you're getting the shaft. what is the benefit of u-verse again? just that it's fiber? i mean internet is internet... just b/c it's fiber doesn't make it faster if your contract is for 6dn/1up... wifi is cool though.my area:qwest pricing:7dn/1up for $35/month7dn/5up for $40/month12dn/1up for $45/month12dn/5up for $50/month20dn/1up for $55/month20dn/5up for $60/month40dn/5up for $110/month, yes residential internet standalone.comcast offers:12dn/2up for $43/month16dn/2up for $52/monthi mean it was just brought up that "the fastest dataplan for DSL is 6Mbps/768Kbp" then you sign up for fiber at the exact same speed, granted with better reliability and uptime, but shizer TWC & AT&T's pricing sucks![Edited on August 6, 2009 at 1:08 PM. 8/6/2009 12:59:20 PM
^never heard of qwest. is that in raleigh?and also...no comcast in raleigh. If you really want to compare services then FIOS beats out Uverse in a heart beat...but its not about whats out there...its about whats the best service available in your area.
8/6/2009 1:05:43 PM
i believe you have your ups/downs backwards, sir[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 1:07 PM. Reason : ^^]

i'm complaining about the service available in your area for you. for having RTP right next door, the triangle has a raw deal on residential service offerings.^fixed, sorry it was copy/pasteyou should tell them these comparison prices even if it's different area to see if they'll lower the price. i can't stand the crappy service (and pricing) in NC[Edited on August 6, 2009 at 1:12 PM. 8/6/2009 2:20:11 PM
Speed and bandwidth are two different things. I'm assuming fiber optic is faster, which matters to me, as a gamer.
8/6/2009 3:16:28 PM
isn't bandwidth the measurement of speed?i think you're confused with capacity.
8/6/2009 7:47:26 PM
yeh, I don't think anyone is saying UVERSE is the best service ever, though it is pretty decent, IMO. What we are saying is that it's the best available by far. And even if you can get the same or a better deal with TWC or another small company around here, you are probably sacrificing quality, CS, and TS. UVERSE wins all three of those, hands down in this area. I don't care if I could save $20/month with the same package from TWC, their shit doesn't work, it's that simple.
8/6/2009 8:58:18 PM
U-Verse has plenty of issues, but TWC has intentionally sat on their ass in this market because there was no competition. I probably end up back with TWC at some point but I am willing to support viable alternatives in order get me the best service options in the long run.
