I've loved everything they've done, and even just listened to Some Cities only last week.

and.... I love the new one as well.

oh, and it's "officially leaked" now --- I'll snag a link to it later and put it up for anyone else that may be interested.

new isis is rockin. The music is actually a pretty welcome progression from their 'normal' sound. I find it very well done. The only thing that I can complain about so far on this album is that now that their sound changed, some of the vocals feel out of place, but not enough to ruin it at all. And the singing fits very well.

I agree. I dig it quite a bit, actually. Still doomy as fuck, but I felt like it was a bit more refined than previous efforts. More mature, I guess.

exactly. And, I liked their last few records, but I kinda felt like they werent really progressing past the sound that made me love them in the first place (ie I normally just head back to Oceanic or something when I want to listen to them). I dont feel that way right out of the gate with this one.

bleh... john vanderslice is so mediocre it hurts. His albums always have one or two good songs but for the most part don't lend themselves to repeat listens. This one is no different.

if anyone wants Telescreen's "The Solar Sea" EP (2007 but im just putting it here) I just upped it for someone tonight.

hxxp://www.mediafire.com/download.php?d2zzfhiyyym

for fans of explosions in the sky, codeseven, and...i dono just moody atmospheric rock with a lot of melody and interesting chord progressions. vocalist is A+ and their live show is great as well. band from winston if anyone didnt know.

This EP was one of my favorites in 2007 and I highly recommend it. Check out "True" and "Rumors" on their myspace if you want http://www.myspace.com/telescreen (ignore the first track as its not really a song).

just realized tat Joe Barresi did the engineering on this Isis album. Hes been the engineer and/or producer on several albums that I feel were well produced (weezer - pinkteron, Kyuss - blues for the red sun, tool - 10,000 days to name a few).

I definitely hear the tool on some of this album in certain passages. Im sure part of that is from the production and part of it is them being friends and touring with tool for awhile (and theyve even appeared on each other's albums)

^^

yeah... at first i was just gonna get the $30 version, but when i went through what was actually all in there (4 records, 2cds, the unplugged dvd, a cassette tape of demos, concert download, some rockband songs downloads (that i gave to my buddy cause i don't play that stuff)... not to mention the really well-designed notebook replicas (overall the entire graphic design of the stuff is amazing)... i decided that it was def worth the price

i felt way less ripped off than when i paid for in rainbows on vinyl last year
