toddl posted a great scholarship table on pp. it's toward the bottom of the page.http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?S=178&F=2515#s=178&f=2515&t=2567712What stares out at me is the DL. Unless we plan on going to a 3-4, which with the current scholarship distribution that may be the case, we need more solid DEs. We are also thinning out at DT over the next couple of years, so that should be a focus as well.

WR Stephen Gilmore is believed to be a Tennessee lean and has interest in Alabama, OSU, FSU, Clemson, and South Carolina. He's supposedly being recruited to play DB and he has "nfl potential" at that position.
6/12/2008 9:41:08 PM
I hope he does go to Tennessee just to piss off this one Clemson fan that so arrogantly said that they had Gilmore in the bag. This was around the time they landed Holloman.[Edited on June 12, 2008 at 10:37 PM. Reason : f]

So apparently Brooks Michel, who said he would visit State in June, is visiting State right now. There seems to be some good feelings going around about him and his upcoming decision. He could very likely end up being our 4th commit.

Six classes of players are listed on this table. It should be viewed as two separate tables. The first five columns are the players on this years team (column headers "2008" through "Incoming Freshmen"). The first number in the "#" column is the total of the players on this years team. The second table that should be viewed is the last five columns (column headers "2009" through "2009 recruits"). This will be next year's team. The second number, in parentheses, in the "#" column is the total of the players on the team for the 2009 season.Red signifies a player who has signed but is not yet on campus. Blue signifies a committed player for the 2009 recruiting class.

thanks for posting, i didn't know you could insert tables into tww

I hope football is not embarrassing.
6/15/2008 11:10:16 AM
I think it'll be another year until we see major improvements. that said, it probably won't be latter-chuck-years embarrassing but we may have to sneak our way into a bowl birth.
6/15/2008 11:57:54 AM
It's hard to be a disappointment when the expectations really aren't that high for our team. We'll bring a lot of youth to the table and a lot of potential but not much proven success. So we'll see what happens, I think any bowl would be a solid season for us.
6/15/2008 12:07:42 PM
we're going to beat south carolina and all of the sudden people are going to have expectations, and then we're going to be a disappointment.
6/15/2008 12:09:45 PM
you already have expectations with that prediction.we are nc statewe are tragedy

Scout updated their rankings today. Slay took a huge hit and is now the #55 rated DT. Cheek moved down one spot to #31. Dowdy is listed as a 1-star but the system may still be updating or there maybe a position change so we'll wait and see.Rivals now lists all 3 as 3 stars with Dowdy rated the best so far.
6/16/2008 10:13:10 PM
What was Slay originally ranked in the DT class?Nevermind I just looked at Nate's recruiting board on Scout and it said they rated him the #36 best DT before these new rankings came out.[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 10:35 PM. Reason : ]

I thought I'd add this to the recruiting thread but I assume another thread will probably be made.DT Jared McAdoo, who is a UNC commit, has been charged with a Felony of Selling/Delivering Schedule II drugs (i.e cocaine, meth and the like). Fun to see what Butch will do with this one and where he'll end up, meaning which non-ACC school with low academic standards will pick him up.If anyone remembers JamesOn Curry, he committed to UNC to play basketball but was busted for selling large amounts of weed and ended up at Oklahoma State. McAdoo's felony is even worse.
6/17/2008 2:02:13 PM
word is he was riding with someone who had that stuff on them. But if they were charged with intent to sell and distribute, it was more than just riding around with the stuff on them. Kids got himself in some deep shit...... if he ever makes it on UNC's campus, he should consider himself blessed and lucky as fuck

He has an offer from Rutgers. I'm surprised that Boston College hasn't offered him yet. You usually want to jump on the good players that are right in your backyard. And lets face it there aren't a lot of legitimate Division I-A players in Massachusetts, much less the whole New England region of the country. TOB even stated as much when he said that in 2007 there were more players from North Carolina that went to Division I-A schools than all of New England. Also his more up to date measurements have him at 6-4 rather than 6-2.[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 8:11 PM.
