Not really relevant to the team anymore, but I found it interesting that Larry Davis is transferring from Seton Hall...

arm pit area gives it away
4/8/2008 12:19:38 AM
Haha another loaded class for Leonard Hamilton to take to the NIT for 4 years. That man must be the worst Xs and Os coach ever. His recruiting is consistently 3rd best behind K/Roy.
4/8/2008 2:30:15 AM
have you seen the guy in a game? he looks like he has no idea what's going on.i remember when we played them this season everytime they'd show an fsu huddle on tv, he was just standing there w/ one of the assistants talking.
4/8/2008 3:27:19 AM
^that is commonplace actually. Usually the assistants divy up games in which they are responsible for some gameplanning, etc.
4/8/2008 7:13:51 AM
4/8/2008 10:08:28 AM
nothing against the guys, but mays and williams are nothing special for an acc recruiting class.maybe they'll be good players, but they don't speak for lowe's talents as a recruiter.
4/8/2008 3:19:47 PM
I think Harris plays (played) more of a role in Sid's and Herb's recruiting abilities. That guy can sell ice to an eskimo.
4/8/2008 3:52:45 PM
Oh I didn't mean that they are the cream of the crop McD's AA type players, but they are talented and will be good 4 year players for us. You never know though, Mays might come in and ball out ala Stephen Curry. One can only hope. I'm glad that they are considered two of the Top 150 players in the class though. I think for us to be successful we'll need a mixture of 4 year players and a couple of burger boys that will be early entries into the draft. Memphis this year was a great example of this. They mixed in super frosh Rose and a bunch of multi-year guys like CDR, Dorsey, and Dozier almost seamlessly and made it to the title game.
4/8/2008 3:53:28 PM
4/8/2008 3:54:02 PM
not to discredit Harris, b/c I think he is a great recruiter, but JJ said that Lowe's ability to form a father figure like relationship with him was one reason why he came to State.
4/8/2008 3:56:25 PM
^^^exactly. let's just hope that sidney can do a better job in the future of mixing "4 year players and a couple of burger boys that will be early entries into the draft" than he did this year.
4/8/2008 4:11:22 PM
does it REALLYYYYYYYY have to be said again that our guards SUCK and we are too slow to compete in the ACC?really?
4/8/2008 4:33:20 PM
It's obvious the guards he got were last minute decisions that he couldn't really help. He was hired late, Mcmillan, wright, and davis all defected, and all we had was atsur. It was the best he could do on short notice. I'm not going to fault sid for the rush job he had to do in guard recruiting for this year. It will be a non issue if he can grab a guy like wall.---------------------Also, seems like there are rumors of calapari going to the NBA. Gotta believe that would bump us up in the rankings for wall.[Edited on April 8, 2008 at 8:26 PM. Reason : .]

Isn't Julius Mays supposed to be pretty fast? He looked pretty fast in that one youtube vid where he took the inbounds from the other end of the court and ran down to score the winning basket in 4 seconds.http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=hR-ZDfUZZP8http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=UCxHjb3HPeI&feature=related[Edited on April 8, 2008 at 9:25 PM. Memphis is John Wall's leader right now
4/12/2008 1:52:52 PM
4/12/2008 1:59:59 PM
honestly, who is surprised? memphis almost won a national championship and had the best pg in the country in a system that lets him thrive. it's hard to compete with that for someone who wants to play in the nba.
4/12/2008 2:07:49 PM
yeah but it's nice to dream
4/12/2008 2:16:59 PM
Here's a good sign for us. Lorenzo Brown will be playing with C.J. Leslie on the Worldwide Renegades on the AAU circuit for part of the summer. Hopefully they establish a good friendship and want to continue playing with each other at State. After his visit for the Duke game Brown said, "I don't know if the other visits can top that because it was crazy." Brown liked our crowd as well as the campus.
4/12/2008 3:13:32 PM
North Carolina State commitment Scott Wood led SYF with 21 points on 7-13 shooting. An intriguing scorer, Wood's points should translate to the ACC provided he develops some muscle mass on his thin frame and tightens up the release on his jumper.

Calipari needs to go to the NBA

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=796580scroll down, its about 3/4 down the page. also has Wall naming memphis as his leader and some other news.
4/12/2008 5:31:31 PM
Yeah I read in my "The Wolfpacker" magazine today that Wall has Memphis in the lead. He's supposed to be cutting his list down some soon. He said Memphis, Oregon, and NC State would definitely make the cut, and that we are always with him. So we are still right there in the running. If we were to land Brown, who though he can play both the 1 and the 2, likes playing the 2 more.
4/12/2008 5:34:20 PM
if we land wall and brown (fingers crossed) where would scott wood play? he is a 2, but would we switch to what kansas did in the early 2000's when they had heinrich, langford, and miles as the gaurds with Simeon and Collison in the post? and run out a 3 gaurd 2 forward line up? with Wall/Brown playing the 1/2 and Wood as the 3rd gaurd with two post players (Costner/Favors)? waay to early to speculate i know, but i just was wondering what the thoughts around here were.
4/12/2008 5:41:29 PM
i could really see us with a three guard lineup here, almost wish we had that anyways
4/12/2008 5:51:52 PM
http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=796640
4/12/2008 5:52:02 PM
the 3 guard lineup with hustling, rebounding 4/5 players seems to be the going thing nowadays
4/12/2008 6:08:53 PM
4/12/2008 6:22:38 PM
Well at 6-6 Wood could easily play the three, especially if he adds some muscle.
4/12/2008 6:36:21 PM
^ 6'6" seems to be really generous, most places I've seem listed at around 6'4" and 6'5"....the latter being the more common number. Though, most players are listed an inch or two taller than they really are.
4/12/2008 6:42:56 PM
right now wood has to gain weight just to play the 2. he'd have to put on quite a bit to play the 3.

Ryan Kelly has been bumped to a 4* player and the #24 PF in the 2009 class (why I do not know). He also now lists us as low interest.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3073045
4/13/2008 8:56:02 PM
