I just read this whole thread. I feel like y'all give lewoods way too much shit. I agree with most of what she said.

^ damn you that made me want to read the whole thread too

read all her posts (and responses to her and about her) up to page 7.

i understand both sides, but definitely agree with her about the name-changing. i always viewed it as a weird thing, even as a child; did not make sense to me.

will read the remaining pages later

p.s. i got curious about her so i searched for her posts and in the first results page saw that she had posted multiple times in threads such home ownership, childfree, washer/dryer, wedding rings, and married life woes between 2014 and 2016. her last post was in 2016. i wonder if she got married.... either way, hope she is happy!

^^ I actually agree with her about the name-changing thing as well. But she was quite the peach in most other topics/disagreements.

^^^ You kind of have to put that in context with all the other stuff she wrote on TWW.

I feel the same way looking back. It makes me wonder if this is a function of what kind of cultural revolution we've all lived through over the past 10 years. Could just be being older and wiser now.

Same here. I find it to be very true about long term dating vs. marriage and the comparison to a dog on a leash. When you're dating long term, you are consciously making the decision to stay even though there is nothing keeping you in that relationship, but once there is a little piece of paper making things legal many people loose that level of active desire/commitment and assume the paper has them covered. That's not to say anyone is cheating, but the active input into the relationship may waver.

I know too many couples that were together and happy for 5+ years (some closer to 10 years or more) before they got married, but then divorced within 1-2 years. It's strange how making it legal seems to change the dynamics of an presumably happy relationship.

Happiness in a marriage is strongly correlated to the number of blowjobs given.

So, I also went back and read this thread. I'm really curious to see if people feel the same way that they did 10 years ago. I'm also a little embarassed about some of the jokes I made in this thread.

As far as name changing. I'm keeping my full name and just adding his last name to the end. That way I dont drop any of who I am, and just gain another name. I'm adding the name just like it's another patch to sew onto the vest

Rolling on almost sixteen years. Oldest just turned fifteen last week and youngest is eleven. Shit sucks sometimes but that is just life. At the end of the day we usually never go to bed pissed off at each other or anything like that even if we get into it, but honestly that is few and far between. There are things we would probably both like to change about each other but overall I think I lucked the fuck out, especially for getting married pretty young. Nobody else in my age group that got married young is still together so its kind of fucking scary/crazy.
