it's good to see him moving his limbs and fingers

the guy is fearless man, goes at 110mph every time. hope he gets well soon, not for hockey, for his family cuz it's gotta be the worst thing to see again.

that said, it's time to lay out some Panthers

Cole was just taken to the hospital with a possible neck/back injury. He dove headfirst into Vokoun (in the crease).

I just heard about Cole. Read it on Yahoo and I am so worried now.

This guy does not deserve any ill that happens to him, esp. life threatening injuries.

Awesome win, and hopefully Cole is okay. Otherwise truly a night of emotional rollercoaster.

""He fell down at full speed and hit his head on my chest," Vokoun said, as reported by the newspaper. "He said he thought there was something wrong with his neck, and he'd been injured before. He didn't want to move so I knew it was something serious. I told the refs to call the trainer, to get the stretcher. He kept saying 'my neck, my neck.' He said it hurts.""

"RALEIGH, NC- Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, has announced that doctors at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL, have released forward Erik Cole and cleared him to fly after a CT scan was negative. Cole will join the Hurricanes for the team's flight to Tampa this morning, and he will continue to be monitored by the Hurricanes' medical staff."

You can try and stop him, but he'll just keep coming back.

I dunno if anyone remembers, but Stillman did that to Weekes in 03-04. It was the GWG, too, if memory serves.

WOOOOOOOO

http://hurricanes.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NHLPage&id=2412
Quote :
"Fear is seeing a friend in a head-first collision. Seeing him stay down, almost perfectly still. Watching paramedics immobilize his neck and place him on a stretcher. Knowing that man has had a neck injury before, leaving him just slightly more susceptible to such a serious injury again. Seeing the replay over and over, and knowing just how fast he was going when his head hit first.

Relief is hearing that he is moving his arms and legs and fingers and toes on the ice. Asking him whether he wants you to call his wife, and hearing him say, “Tell her it’s not bad like last time.” Hearing the team trainers say in the locker room that the doctors are “just being careful.” Sitting on the airplane and hearing that the CT Scan was negative and that we are waiting for the player and assistant trainer to arrive for the flight. And then watching your friend walk, almost bounce, right down the aisle of the plane to his seat in the back, to the hoots and hollers all of his other friends.

By the time we got to the hotel in Tampa last night, Erik Cole was back to his usual self, laughing and smiling with his teammates. He even joked about being wheeled off the ice on the stretcher, and waiting until he passed under the scoreboard so he could check if a penalty had been called on the play. (“No penalty! Get serious.”) He’ll continue to be monitored by our training staff as to exactly what injuries he does have. But there is no way around the fact, that we all had reason to feel thankful, and relieved at the end of the night."

"Erik Cole joined us last night and made the flight after the game. The team waited for him to get medical clearance and did not depart until midnight. Everything seemed to check out for the good. All CAT scans were negative and according to Erik he experienced a couple of nerve "stingers" on both sides of his upper body."

Also something funny in Sundheim's blog:
Quote :
"On a lighter note, I heard that a certain goaltender made a little guarantee of victory during a post-game interview with John and Tripp on FSN South on Saturday night. It wasn’t a hockey guarantee, but one involving said goaltender’s own fantasy football league. And it was a bold prediction, proclaiming that his last place team in Division 1, The Riders, would knock off the first-place team in the same division, The Hiphopopotamous , owned by yours truly. Thanks to Tony Romo and Maurice-Jones Drew and company, the first place team held serve, as you can see in the picture.

Stick to stopping pucks, Cam."

What's funnier to me is what he left uncropped on that pic. Mike Commodore's team is 3-7 and called "Everyone is on the Block", and he probably should have cropped off Brandon Campbell's (whoever that is) team "bjcams".
