Someone I barely know IMed me the other day and said "hey there big head". When I replied "big head?" he said "yeah you gotta pick a nickname big head or sketch". I said "I prefer antonio" and changed the subject. It irked me a little but wasn't a big deal.

The more I thought about it though the more it reminded me of things I saw growing up. People (meaning mostly my relatives) had no problem pointing out your physical flaws. My mom and aunt did this quite a bit, even though they'd get pissed if you said anything about their appearance. I remember them telling me I had a big head when I was little. People would also say "You're getting fat, aren't you?" like your weight was acceptable subject of casual conversation, to say nothing of THEIR weight.

Maybe I was just sensitive (I was), but I don't understand how or why it was acceptable to do something like that. "Hey let's point out that kids' quirks so he'll be self-conscious for the rest of his life."
