I don't know, if I saw some weird angels in the road, I would definitely swerve to avoid them.
5/18/2007 11:11:44 AM
seriously me too... maybe they were there to get her.
5/18/2007 11:12:24 AM
I dont know if this has been said or not in this thread (and I'm not going to scan every page), but did Danielle walk away from the crash uninjured?
5/18/2007 11:13:00 AM
thats me reposting / quoting so...
5/18/2007 11:13:59 AM
^^ i would assume so, since she's in jailpossibly she was taken to the hospital to be checked out, then to jail

I agree with you that she probably was hammered but i've seen plenty of accidents that were just dumb mistakes
5/18/2007 11:24:25 AM
RIP Duchess. I didn't know her but like many have said before have some respect up here people. When sad things like this happen say something nice or just don't post at all.

I don’t think I have ever posted on TWW. I am a close friend of Danielle’s and had meet Emily many times when hanging out with Danielle. Let me say I am very saddened to hear about this tragedy. Emily was a great person and will be missed by a lot of people. My thoughts and prayers are with both girls and both familys. I do know almost the whole story. I know a few people that were out with them that night. I know 1 person that drove by that night and saw her car at the intersection after the wreck, and went to the hospital that night to check on them. I know what she blew for her DWI. She was not injured in the wreck, which makes it even worse on her. I am not going to say anything else about any of this for legal reasons. I talked to Danielle yesterday morning and she is very torn up. Emily was her best friend in the whole world. What Danielle did was a BIG mistake. Everyone knows this, but please know that she very distraught now. She is in jail the last I heard for vehicular manslaughter. I haven’t talked to anyone today. I know she feels horrible and the only thing she wanted yesterday was for her friend to make it. She will pay a big penalty in the courts. She will pay for the rest of her life, having to live with this everyday. What she did was very wrong, but it was a mistake. She is a good kid, so please be considerate. We have all made mistakes, some just turn out way worse than others.RIP Emily.

Good post.Life is fucked up sometimes. Hopefully this girl can learn from her mistakes and move on in due time.

theres a guy who speaks around the country to student athletes and NCSU hires him, he did the exact same thing except that he killled 4 of his firends after driving drunk and speeding like an idiot i think in florida during a spring break...happened like 10 years agohe was the only one who survived relatively unscathed, another friend survived but that guy never spoke to him again, understandably so....point is that he was the "least drunk" and that led him to killin his friends and having to do these seminars as punishment, reliving his friends lives and deaths everytime he speaks

^she made a very bad judgement call by driving drunk and therefore her friend was killed, but that doesn't mean that overall in life she wasn't a bad kid.however, i'm not sympathetic in the least bc my mom was killed by a drunk driver 2 years ago. i hope she gets the full punishment she can get because she needs to learn from her actions, regardless as to how remorseful she may be. yes she'll have to live with what has happened for the rest of her life. but that will never bring back emily for everyone who was friends w/her or her family or anyone else. i didn't know her, but i know what her family's going through.

so? its his car, his responsibility. Don't loan your car out to someone that isn't going to admit to you to running the light and paying the ticket. Its not like you were put on trial for murder you can go and view the tapes and dispute it.now go start a thread about it.[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 12:51 PM. Reason : fda]

intersection linkAnyone have any images of the camera/pole assemblies they use in fayetteville?I've wondered about this type of accident from looking at some of the cameras in raleigh. Seems like the most likely failure mode would be for the bottom of the pole to shear off and the camera assembly to fall only slightly forwards, falling directly on top of a vehicle moving at high speed. This camera looks like a death trap:This is more like the ones in Raleigh, and the base seems reinforced (less likely to shear), but the camera assembly is linked weakly and would probably detach from the top of the pole.I'm not a huge fan of these cameras, and it seems like a product who's declared motive is safety should be a bit better designed.[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 12:59 PM. they look like the second one, thought the bragg one is the one i drive by the least
5/18/2007 12:59:48 PM
I thought they were a lot higher up
5/18/2007 1:05:28 PM
god, what a horrible way to go.that camera does look like it's on there securely, you can see at least 2 bolts where it attaches. I have absolutely no physics background, but if car hit that head on, wouldn't the camera keep going forward, esp. if it hit like 2 feet up? I guess the pole could have snapped and then fallen towards the car, damn that's awful.

I am gonna make an unsolicited post in this thread, but I really don't think this young girl should be charged for anything/put in jail. What's happened has happened, and she has definitely more than learnt her lesson. They'd all be better off if one more living life wasn't screwed.
5/18/2007 1:25:33 PM
for the 1st time ever i agree with esgargs.to be honest the only thing that is going to come out of charging her is bad stuff, she'll be nearly unemployable and probably end up being a drain to society. Now if she gets caught drinking and driving again... she should be killed on the spot if she didn't learn her lesson from this she is a horrible human being and does not deserve to live.[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 1:30 PM. Good God this is terrible.Emily and some of her friends use to come hang out at our apartment before we'd head downtown some nights. My roommates and I would always feel like champions when she walked through the door -- sort of that "we've got the hottest girl at state sitting on our couch and laughing at our dumbass jokes" mentality. Sincere, sweet, gorgeous girl -- terrible terrible terrible news

5/18/2007 1:40:09 PM
^^^ I dont know. This is purely specualtion, but if the actual accident (hitting the pole) wasnt that bad (which would explain why the driver walked away), is there any type of possibility for a lawsuit of some sort towards the town of Fayettville from the parents of Emily? Based on that intersection picture, the red light camera looks really close to the road.In my mind I was thinking about it being some really bad/horrific wreck, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like some freak accident (the camera falling) that spawned from a minor accident (Drunk Driving aspect aside).[Edited on May 18, 2007 at 1:44 PM. There's always a possibility for lawsuit.Hell, the driver could sue the bars for serving her alcohol. It's happened before.

5/18/2007 1:49:30 PM
^ugh.I dont know if its time yet for that question.... I also dont know how she was critically injured so it would be extremely difficult to say.
