Looks like Wallace has agreed to stay."The Charlotte Bobcats and free-agent forward Gerald Wallace have agreed to a contract, the Observer has learned.A source close to the negotiations said Wallace will sign a six-year deal worth $57 million. The sixth year of the contract will be Wallace's option. He also can earn bonuses worth as much as $2 million each season.Wallace's contract with the Bobcats, who obtained him in the NBA's expansion draft in 2003, expired at the end of last season, and he briefly became a free agent.http://www.charlotte.com/bobcats/story/193233.html[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 4:58 PM. Man let's hope so....then maybe we can compete this year. Without GForce, it would basically be the same team as last year.
7/11/2007 5:01:22 PM
this made my day
7/11/2007 5:24:00 PM
HELL YES....HELL YES....HELL YES....thank godthat made my week
7/11/2007 5:35:27 PM
FINALLYi've been checking yahoo at work everyday on the hour for news of this. woohoo
7/11/2007 5:36:45 PM
So who is gonna be our leading scorer next year, GForce or Richardson?
7/11/2007 5:55:57 PM
I'll say Richardson, because he's a more natural scorer. I think a lot of times this past year, G Wall was forced to score. Having said that, Wallace is going to be the team's MVP this year without question IMO. The guy defines the word hustle. BIG BIG day for bobcats basketball.
7/11/2007 6:02:38 PM
The deal isn't terrible either -- less than 10 million a year (not counting incentives)Good going MJ
7/11/2007 6:05:02 PM
playoffs? YES MOTHERFUCKER, PLAYOFFS
7/11/2007 6:11:50 PM
^not sure about thatbut damn this team will be better. I'm really excited about this team. Felton, May and Morrison will all be better. the only reason I'm not sure about playoffs is because several other teams improved as well. The east is still much weaker than the east, but fighting for a playoff spot may be even more competitive.
7/11/2007 6:22:50 PM
We got a good deal on Wallace but that Carroll deal is still going to cripple our cap flexibility. We still don't have a center and its 50/50 that Felton ever becomes a good NBA PGAs of right now I think we've got a decent shot to make the playoffs if we can stay relatively healthy though.
7/11/2007 6:23:18 PM
i think the improvements made aret worth 5 more wins in such a weak conference
7/11/2007 6:24:12 PM
If their big men stay healthy (thats a big if), they'll be in the playoffs. This team will be exciting to watch.
7/11/2007 6:24:25 PM
i'll say right now we make the playoffs and not only that, we will be AT LEAST a 7 seed, if not a 6 or 5
7/11/2007 6:25:33 PM
Absolutely incredible news...losing Wallace would have hurt this franchise immensely and probably set it back significantly for a number of years. Can't wait to watch the 'Cats play next year! No doubt this will be a fun team to watch and we have a damn good shot at making the post-season. Now let's get a real deal 5 man and continue to help Felton with his layup drills/shooting (cause he stunk it up from the field last year).
7/11/2007 6:36:50 PM
Wallace and Richardson's combined contracts are less then what Orlando is paying Lewis
7/11/2007 8:12:23 PM
So what's the lineup?FeltonRichardsonWallaceOkaforBrezec ?Primoz was pretty bad last year, but he was injured and exausted from playing on the Slovenian National team over the summer. This upcoming year is a contract year for him, so maybe he'll step it up.Or do we go small and start Okafor at C?[Edited on July 11, 2007 at 8:29 PM. Reason : 2]
7/11/2007 8:29:13 PM
I'd prefer the look of FeltonRichardsonWallaceHermannOkaforPersonally, I just can't stand Primoz and hate to see him on the court for any considerable stretch. Hermann is 6-9 and him and Wallace I think can effectively guard most other team's 3's and 4's. The other option is May, who may or may not have eaten himself out of the league by April.
7/11/2007 8:38:40 PM
i cant get over how excited i am about this
7/11/2007 8:46:25 PM
We made two really good moves here (richardson and Wallace).....but fucking MC will kill us
7/11/2007 10:02:50 PM
Every team needs a good pure shooting role playercarroll fills that role quite nicely, with the added bonus of being able to create his own shot on occasion – and we may have overpaid a little, but with carroll, we know what we’re going to get and how he fits in – and I have enough faith in this organization’s higher-ups to hope that we didn’t pay much more than market value already demandedIt’s starting to come together a little bit nowCHARLOTTE BOBCATS: BRINGING THE UPTEMPO TO THE EAST
7/12/2007 7:36:45 AM
at the end of the game if we are behind, we can go to richardsoncourse if we're ahead we just go to carroll and watch him knock down free throw after free throw after free throw
7/12/2007 9:44:47 AM
I havent had a huge problem with the Matt Carroll contracthe is like a better NBA version of Redick (well maybe not based on JJ's summer league play)plus, someone else would have probably paid him that kind of money (just look at what Kapono and Walton got)
7/12/2007 10:07:06 AM
What about a starting lineup ofPG: FeltonSG: RichardsonSF: CarrollPF: Wallace C: OkaforIt'd probably be the smallest lineup in the east, but damn they'd be fun to watch offensively. Wallace is also probably our team's best rebounder, and toughest interior players. He proved that last year playing at the PF spot. Plus there's not another PF in the game that could stop him from penetrating.
7/12/2007 10:11:43 AM
i'm not a big primoz fan, but unless we make another big move, i dont see how the opening game lineup WONT be
7/12/2007 10:27:57 AM
I'll admit, I didn't think G-Force would re-sign, but rallydurham was right and I was wrong. My bad, rallydurham.
7/12/2007 10:45:41 AM
their are a good amount of other big man free agents out there... do we have enough money to go after one of them?Mikki Moore, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Mihm, Mutumbo(if he doesn't retire), Melvin Ely(if we want to bring him back)... their are a few others.. none of these really stick out to me but maybe would be an upgrade over Primoz
7/12/2007 10:57:52 AM
this makes me smile and lol
7/12/2007 11:17:01 AM
yeah, after we signed him last night and I read the Bill Simmons chat and saw how confused he was with signing Lewis for that much I started doing research on their stats.it just doesnt make any sense. And SI.com has the article on Gforce saying he will be 27, then click on his player page and it has his brithday making it easy to see he is about to be 25
7/12/2007 11:24:07 AM
yeah according to nba.com he is 24 and will be 25 in a couple weeks...but i've heard he is 26 and will turn 27 in a couple weeks...no idealol at Childersburg being gullier than Houstonalso I think those numbers are fucked up...Wallace averaged 2+ blocks and steals last year...that 1.0 blocks isnt right, even if its just a "per 40 minutes" stat
7/12/2007 11:30:36 AM
nah check your numbers twisthe had 2+ each of blocks and steals 2 years agothis past year he only had 1 block per game
7/12/2007 11:40:29 AM
oh ok word
7/12/2007 11:43:00 AM
Rtesticle is correct
7/12/2007 12:01:41 PM
We beat the Magic last night 95-77. Hollins, Davidson, and Dudley all played good minutes and had good production. The surprise is this guy on our roster, Gabe Muoneke who dropped 31 pts in 36 min on 11 for 14 shooting. JJ continues to impress scoring 24pts.
7/12/2007 1:13:17 PM
sounds like dudley had a good game alsohaha check out Muoneke "balling" on Dirk
7/12/2007 1:44:46 PM
it is possible that we could be developing two guys that can play center in this league
7/12/2007 1:46:57 PM
^looks like he is goosing dirk with his left handand giving him a titty twister with his right[Edited on July 12, 2007 at 1:58 PM. Reason : x]
