21 days people. I think I'm going to put my car flags up on my car the week before the game, that way during my drive to work people in Charlotte will know that State football is back in force.

^^ SUCKS!I made totally sure our wedding day was the week PRIOR to the start of college football. I had a lot of folks come to the wedding and actually mention, "Hey man, glad this gig wasn't next weekend..."
8/11/2007 7:50:53 PM
sadly, i'll also be missing the first game due to Dragon Con in Atlanta...and I doubt it'll be on the radio down there...

where is ucf picked to finish in the bigeast?
8/12/2007 2:01:49 PM
^^^yeah, i've thought long and hard about not going, but...came up with a few reasons why i should go:1. Its just wofford2. I've known her for a long time3. I see her and her family whenever i go to churchSo those are pretty good easons i think
8/12/2007 2:06:59 PM
UCF is in C-USA. USF is in the Big East. One is located in Orlando, and the other is in Tampa.
8/12/2007 4:05:46 PM
19 days folks
8/13/2007 7:28:51 AM
USF if building a really nice program. I'm surprised how well they are recruiting down in florida with all the other competition around. Maybe some of those kids are Big East fans and USF is the only florida school in the Big East.
8/13/2007 8:31:18 AM
Probably due to the large number of recruits in a small area
8/13/2007 9:45:14 AM
That always confused me that South Florida was in Tampa....that isn't South at all but it doesn't matter if they beat Carolina again this year. UCF is a decent team that went 8-5 in 2005 and slipped to 4-8 last year but O'Leary has that team on the rise. And we never beat him when he was at Tech.

shut the fuck up...why dont you try contributing something to this forum once in a while.you are like a third string sports talk poster Lindy's Preason ReviewN.C. StateCoach--TOB, 74-45 in 10 yrsOC--Dana BibleDC--Mike ArcherLast League Title--1979Last Bowl--2005, Meineke Car Care BowlReturning Starters--14; 7 Offense, 7 DefensePlayers To Watch-- TB Toney Baker, TB Andre Brown, WR/R Darrell Blackman, WR John Dunlap, TE Marcus Stone, DT Demario PressleyPrimary Strengths-- The Pack should make noticeable improvement in the running game and there is an emphasis on eliminating senseless penalties. Defensively, it could be a breakout season for tackle Demario Pressley, and the use of more zone coverage could produce more turnovers.Potential Problems--The Pack must have a quarterback capable of consistently making plays in the passing game to keep defenses from ganging up on the run. The Pack must replace John Deraney, who handled all of the kicking duties.OFFENSE New coach Tom O'Brien has emphasized attention to detail and discipline, and it starts with the Wolfpack's rushing attack. Despite having Toney Baker and Andre Brown, the Wolfpack was fifth in the ACC in rushing last year at 120 yards per game. The potential is much greater. Baker and Brown, generally considered two of the best backs in the ACC, combined for 1,346 rushing yards. "There's no question this offense is built around the runningbacks," Baker said. Even more so considering O'Brien goes into fall camp undecided about the starter at quarterback. Daniel Evans has the edge after starting the last nine games in 2006 and having a strong spring game. The junior has competition, and is being chased by redshirt freshman Justin Burke and Nebraska transfer Harrison Beck, who has the strongest arm of the trio. "Whoever makes the best decisions will be the starting quarterback," O'Brien said. Wide receiver John Dunlap made O'Brien miserable last season with a last-gasp touchdown catch that gave North Carolina State a 17-15 win over Boston College, O'Brien's former team. Darrell Blackman, a converted tailback, caught 27 passes last year and has the team's surest hands and best breakaway ability. Sophomore Donald Bowens and redshirt freshman Jarvis Williams are also in the mix at receiver. O'Brien gained a reputation at Boston College for producing big, physical offensive lines. The Pack lost both starting tackles and versatile guard Leroy Harris, so the line is generally unproven. *But tight end Anthony Hill, a 6-6 265-pound senior, is a bruising blocker in addition to the Pack's leading pass-catcher last year.*DEFENSE Coordinator Mike Archer is a 3-4 advocate, but the Pack again will emply a 4-3 front. One noticeable change: There will be more zone looks in the secondary after years of man-to man coverages. "Zone allows you the opportunity to break on the ball and make some plays," O'Brien said. The Wolfpack didn't make many last season, grabbing just seven interceptions while forcing five fumbles. State needs a productive year from senior tackle DeMario Pressley and continued improvement from ends Willie Young and Martrel Brown. Gone is middle linebacker Pat Lowery, who had 102 tackles last season. Seniors Earnest Jones and LeRue Rumph have experience, but must be more effective. Safeties Miguel Scott and DaJuan Morgan have been around and lead the secondary. The collection of cornerbacks, including Jimmie Sutton III, Levin Neal and Jeremy Gray, should give the defensive staff enough to pick from.SPECIAL TEAMS Redshirt freshman Josh Czajkowski might handle the placekicking. The Pack signed Jeff Ruiz, a junior college All-American who averaged 43.3 yards a punt last season. Darrell Blackman led the ACC in kickoff returns and was seventh in punt returns, earning first team All-ACC honors as a specialist. Blackman's kickoff average of 28.9 yards per kick was fourth nationally.OVERVIEW O'Brien has brought new energy to the program and has won the respect of his players with his no-nonsense approach. To be a surprise contender in the Atlantic Divison, the Pack needs to be more efficient and turn close losses of 2006 into wins in 2007. N.C. State lost seven games by eight points or less.[Edited on August 13, 2007 at 12:43 PM. Reason : bold]

If evans can just play smart.. we will be ok. He does need to keep the defense honest though, or teams will load up on B&B
8/13/2007 1:39:06 PM
Too bad evans can't throw it deep enough to keep the D honest.

News & Observer Pack QB battle still wide open, O'Brien says
8/15/2007 1:18:27 PM
If we get inside of 10 days and there still isn't a starter, then it is time to start asking WTF. Till then I think TOB is doing the right thing. ncsuftw I think a week sounds good. maybe 5 days
8/15/2007 1:23:15 PM
thisi is not good. we're going to play musical qbs for the 3rd year in a row.
8/15/2007 1:25:54 PM
whats the spread on this game?
8/15/2007 1:27:13 PM

hahaha
8/15/2007 1:38:12 PM
8/15/2007 2:23:50 PM
The reason the QB battle is still wide open is TOB is giving every chance to the 3 guys with the physical skills to play QB in college to pass the one who doesn't have the physical skills but is smarter QB right now.We all saw Evans doesn't have what it takes to play college QB at a high enough level to compete for an ACC title but the sad thing is Burke and Beck keep screwing up and Wilson is likely just too young and raw.

Terry Bowden thinks FSU will win the Atlantic, but thinks that NC State is the sleeper pick to win the Atlantic this year. You can find the video under Countdown to kickoff: ACC and click on Atlantic.http://sports.yahoo.com/

Hey Brass monkey...if you haven't gone by trinity lately they made it from 4 lanes to 5 with a turning lane and got rid of all the bushes... also from packsmack.com I think a lot of people are picking on us for this... "Finally, I was dismayed to read what N.C. State has decided to do during their tailgates this season at Carter-Finley. The school will send red-vested volunteers to help you enjoy your pre and post-game festivities. These goobers will promote courtesy and good sportsmanship throughout the tailgate areas.I've always enjoyed the tailgating at N.C. State...it is one of the better party scenes in the ACC and the fans know how to have a good time. If the Pack would win more often, it would only enhance the environment and atmosphere. Instead of volunteers telling the rights and wrongs of tailgating, State should eliminate the stupid rule that tailgate areas can only be opened a few hours before game time. Big-time football programs usually start the tailgating on the Wednesday prior to kick-off....not four hours before.I can only imagine how long it will take a "red-vested volunteer" to tell the boys having a keg-party to make sure they throw their cups into the trash. School officials stated that they would report fans that didn't follow the rules, and that they didn't expect the "red vests" would be taunted or jeered by Wolfpack or opposing fans.Yeah, right.I can't wait to get to Raleigh on the Sun Drop Southern Fried Football™ Tour this season...just make sure the red-vested geeks stay out of my way.I've got to go...Woody Austin has just cut Tiger's lead to three shots. Woody should be wearing one of those red vests." I pretty much agree.

College Football Live is on ESPN2 right now, and it looks like they will be talking about us in their segment on what schools are looking good recruiting wise. They said that you've really got to be surprised with what Tom O'Brien is doing in recruiting. Said that Mike Glennon will be one of the premiere pocket passers in the college ranks, and that he has perhaps the fastest player he's ever had in Brandon Barnes. For some reason they showed that we have 8 commits, even though we have 9, and if you add in Kyle Linney who will be added to this years class then we have 10. It said we had two of ESPN's Top 150 players, even though we have three according to Rivals rankings.[Edited on August 16, 2007 at 7:00 PM. Reason : ]

Okay, so I think that this is the first year that ESPN is actually on our side with us in the bowl picture prediciton and all. That's a HUGE complement and bold statement to make about us when compared to our performance from last season...The ACC sports experts, however, will be sucking our balls this come late December if those ESPN predictions come to life with their plans of us finishing last in the Atlantic division. Where's the ACC inter-conference love these days man...Guess there is none...Alot of ??? going into this season which could be a very good or bad thing with regards to the product that we see on the field come Sept. 1st. Let's just hope that ESPN is right or otherwise we're going to look like shit on National TV this year with games such as the following:@ Boston College@ FSU (oh, you better believe it)@ Miamivs. Louisville (who most likely will be top ten at the time of contest)This season is a true test for TOB and the football programLet's keep our fingers crossed Wolfpack faithful!
