I was about to see Def Leppard and Journey in Charlotte (last year I think) but it started to rain and my friends didn't want to stand in the rain to see Def Leppard so we just left.

8/28/2007 12:36:36 AM
^ i met the band in dc. the drummer is really nice and quite strange.
8/28/2007 1:10:54 AM
Saw Deer & The Headlights, As Tall As Lions, and Mae tonight in San Diego on vacation fantastic small venue, and while bands 1 & 3 were FANTASTIC, ATAL had an awful attitude, played too long, and cranked their bass guitar to 11. They were teh suck.

8/28/2007 11:47:16 PM
I'm a fan of their song, "A Strange Education," it was an iTunes free download of the week a few months back, but I still can't decide on the rest of the album.
8/28/2007 11:54:31 PM
^^^ It was all right....
8/29/2007 12:00:43 AM
agreed. okkervil river was alright too tonight. the singer dude can't really pull off the (more) tuneful vocals that made it on the record, no doubt comped from an assload of performances. the passion was there though!
8/29/2007 2:37:19 AM
Midlake tonight! Hope it's as good as a performance as they had at the 506.Glad to see the National sold out their Friday night performance. I also can't believe Tegan and Sara sold out their show before Animal Collective did.[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 4:38 PM. Reason : Tegan not Tegon]
9/5/2007 4:23:15 PM
you would be surprised. there are a ton of women that bought the shit out of those tickets (tegan & sara) over the last few weeks.oh yeah, and last time i saw animal collective at cat's cradle (2005 i think), there were like 50 people there. but this one will probably sell out.[Edited on September 5, 2007 at 4:36 PM. Reason : .]
9/5/2007 4:35:20 PM
^^ yeah! Midlake at the Local 506 were amazing... I really hope tonight's show is on par with that one. I've been looking forward to this show as much or more than the National show. There are still Midlake tickets available people---- don't miss this band.
9/5/2007 5:59:19 PM

9/6/2007 9:42:39 AM
We all are.Spooky and I were front row center last night right in Mr. Midlake's grill. The Jungler and Balloon Maker were the first two songs that I was introduced to the band so I was excited that they were played last night. And some dude in the crowd reused that "Hotlake" joke that was said during the 506 show. Very lame.

What was the Midlake song about living to be 300 on a hill? I didn't recognize it from Van Occupanther.
9/7/2007 6:35:31 PM
I like that National album, but every time I've seen them perform on TV they look like the stiffest live act in history. Hopefully they start drinking heavily tonight for y'all and rowdy it up.
9/7/2007 10:38:28 PM
yeah they're kind of boring liveand ive seen them 3 times in the past 5 months(opening for arcade fire, the tower philadephiabonnarooheadlining at johnny brenda's philly([Edited on September 7, 2007 at 10:54 PM. Reason : e]

9/8/2007 1:26:10 AM
that violinist/keyboardist was one of the nerdiest members of a rock band i've seen in an while.
9/8/2007 1:36:51 AM
yeah, i didn't realize he was even in the band. he looks like a high school english teacher.
9/8/2007 1:44:06 AM
i love that guyyou don't see someone go buck wild on the violin every day
9/8/2007 1:58:51 AM
About Today was off an EP they did called Cherry Tree. My favorite track from that time period. The violinist isn't and "official" member of the band. Every member of the band, including the violinist, signed my Boxer CD and my friends vinyl!
9/8/2007 2:14:17 AM
I still maintain that the violinist sketched me out. He kind of killed my buzz but at the same time, it's cool to see "the old guy" is still able to rock out.
9/8/2007 4:58:54 AM
wtf how how did he ruin your buzz - he's really into the music what's wrong with that?violinist ftw
9/8/2007 2:44:25 PM
he was super nice, too. he talked to some weird dude sitting on the stage next to me for a couple of minutes.
