so they took what Kornheiser said and then said the opposite... makes total sensefor this pageheres about half of it:

if you go to chargers.com there is a press conference with Phil after the game (after LT's) for free. Only one question about the incident and Phil said "It's nothing to write about"[Edited on December 25, 2007 at 12:24 PM. Reason : spelling]

12/25/2007 12:27:15 PM
yeah this is turning out to be not such a big deal
12/25/2007 12:58:03 PM
I dont think anyone thought it would be a big deal, maybe if LT or Champ would have done it

philip rivers is a punk. go ahead. blast me. i dont care. hes a charger so i cant see why anyone gives a hoot about him anyway. i will say this... i feel very sorry that norv turner is his coach. he coached my team for 7 years... 7 years too many[Edited on December 25, 2007 at 1:42 PM. I feel very sorry that you're a skins fan. Norv is doing fine out in SD. And he's a QB guru, so Rivers should benefit under his tutelage. Whether Norv and Rivers can guide a team to the superbowl remains to be seen, but they have a decent shot this year. They are peaking at the right time.

i liked that stat they showed during the game where rivers, roflsburger, and kurt warner had the best record of any qb in their first 30 starts

If this was an NCSU player talkin trash to a UNC player, none of us would talk bad about it. It's a rivalry, people talk trash. I don't understand why this is a big deal.
12/26/2007 10:02:43 AM
its not a big dealmost people on the internet are fucking idiots

if it were Cutler doing it to P.Riv you would all be tripping over yourselves to call him a thug, punk etc., you KNOW you would
12/26/2007 10:28:46 AM
i just wish p riv hadn't thrown so many picks this year
12/26/2007 11:01:13 AM

p riv needs to lose this weekend, k thanks
12/26/2007 11:19:28 AM
^^ once again, if it were reversed and Cutler was doing it to Rivers EVERYONE on here would be all over Cutler
12/26/2007 11:20:50 AM
^not me, but i can see where you're going with that. But you can go to any biased board such as this one and say that about any athlete from said school. If it happened b/t two QB's that DIDN'T go to NCSU, then everyone on this board would think nothing of it. But since it involves Rivers, everyone on this board feels something about it. What im trying to say is that you can't blame the people on this board because Rivers went to NCSU. Theres an obvious bias. I for one, believe he can talk shit to anyone he wants as long as he doesn't cross the line. Saying "Bye baby" or "Crybaby" to the opposing QB as he is talkin shit to defensive players isn't crossing the line for me.
12/26/2007 11:31:44 AM
well I think there are cases where you have to be objective... for example, I think Leonard Little is a piece of shit that should be locked up...doesnt matter if he went to UT or not. And I also think Peyton Manning will go down as the greatest QB of all time... doesnt matter if he went to UT or not

Cobra Kai!
12/26/2007 12:43:45 PM
^^^well sure, but im bein objective, and hopefully everyone else is when i/they say that theres nothing wrong with what he did
12/26/2007 12:49:27 PM
^^^^ i see your point but i don't think rivers has gotten too close to leonard little range, don't know if that's a great exampleto draw a parallel you'd have to come up with a UT player who did something somewhat questionable that no one outside of UT fans rememberlike gerald riggs jr eating the last of the mashed potatoes without asking anyone else if they wanted any [Edited on December 26, 2007 at 1:19 PM. 12/26/2007 1:16:25 PM
oh course he isnt close to Leonard Little... my point is 95% of the people on here would all of a sudden cease being objective if Cutler had done the same thing to Rivers... and thats bullshit
12/26/2007 1:33:24 PM
what would you say about Brady if he had put his naked butt and rectum on somone's face?
12/26/2007 1:36:40 PM
if he did it in a locker room where plenty of people were already in various stages of undress as is normal in a locker room, then I wouldnt have cared... and it wasnt "on"[Edited on December 26, 2007 at 1:39 PM. Reason : d]

^^Then I think you have answered your question.I personally wouldn't have cared at all if Cutler had done that to Rivers.Especially if Rivers was the one starting it by talking smack to the defense as they were walking off the field.[Edited on December 26, 2007 at 1:44 PM. Reason : ^^]

hahahaJaybee = most people on the internet
12/26/2007 1:52:20 PM
I mean, I wouldn't have thought that makes him classless in any way.I would probably have bood him for it, just like I hope denver fans bood rivers for his jawing. But sports aren't supposed to be objective anyway.
12/26/2007 1:52:47 PM
^ wrong... who you cheer for isnt objective, but almost everything else is... otherwise you just get childish "my team is better because they are my team wah wah wah" shit or I like the Giants, so therefore Barry doing steroids isnt bad because it was for my team... shit like that should end around age 12 if you really actually watch sports.Do I like the Pats? no, I hate them, but that has NOTHING to do with my judgment that they are easily the best team this year, to think otherwise is just being retarded.[Edited on December 26, 2007 at 2:33 PM. 12/26/2007 2:32:04 PM
Again, I don't think this is that confusing. You hate opposing teams players who talk smack and you love it when your players talk smack. It's just how it works.
12/26/2007 2:35:14 PM
^ that assuming you like players who talk smack... a LOT of people dont
12/26/2007 2:39:25 PM
^ as far as I've ever seen, as long as you back it up people love your smack talk. Try and see how many Duke fans disliked JJ Redick.
12/26/2007 2:49:23 PM
lots of people hated Deion, and he might have been the greatest cover CB ever
12/26/2007 3:21:44 PM
whats funny is that people can sit back on the internet and have their "holier than thou" moment when in real life, if they were in that athletes shoes, they would have done the same thing
12/26/2007 3:24:16 PM
whats funny is that people can sit back on the internet and have their "holier than thou" moment blaming other people on the internet for being "holier than thou"and just for the record, I never said I had a problem with what Rivers did, I just said it seemed odd, and that a good deal of the people on here who are claiming that "oh all athletes do that, nothing at all wrong with that" would be the first ones calling "thug, bitch, no class" etc. if Mike Vick, Cutler, TJ Yates, or some shithead from Maryland etc. did it[Edited on December 26, 2007 at 3:34 PM. ^ Oh, yeah, I agree with that 100%. I just feel like the national media tried to make it into something larger than it actually was.
12/26/2007 4:01:56 PM
thats all I was saying... the national media wont make a big deal out of it because its the Chargers, and two young "relatively" unknown players
12/26/2007 4:05:33 PM
^^ did the national media say anything about it outside of the game announcers?i saw no mention of it on the denver post website and only a small one on the san diego whatever newspaper siteit seems like tww is discussing this way more than any legitimate news sources [Edited on December 26, 2007 at 4:53 PM. 12/26/2007 4:51:54 PM
^ yeah, you're right it wasn't really that widespread, I guess I was just peeved at how big of a deal they made it sound during the game.
12/26/2007 7:35:40 PM
the chargers are gonna be nasty next year as well... 33 mill in cap space.... they can pick up any number of great FA...
12/27/2007 9:54:45 AM
Here's a San Diego Union-Tribune article about the "smack talking" during MNF. It seems to be objective, and tell the whole story. There's a classic picture of Philip in there too.http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20071227/news_1s27chargers.htmlMy favorite part:
