This game is going to be nuts.. I think I'd be scared to be in the crowd for this one..
6/11/2006 2:56:45 PM
I like the Angola jerseys.. I wonder why theirs are the only ones different from every other team with Puma jerseys[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 3:01 PM. Reason : .]
6/11/2006 3:01:23 PM
1-0 Portugal, this game might be ugly
6/11/2006 3:04:03 PM
I wish Angola had brought some cleats today.
6/11/2006 3:04:40 PM
whoooooooooooo what an assist by Figo! Holy crap he just completely dessimated that defenceman.
6/11/2006 3:04:42 PM
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL
6/11/2006 3:07:57 PM
who's the announcer with Tommy Smyth? I think they're my favorite duo in the world cup - Balboa tries to talk too much, Harkes says "Absolutely JP" every time he talks, and I just didn't care for Shep too much
6/11/2006 3:08:47 PM
Adrian Healey
6/11/2006 3:11:37 PM
Yeah they are my favorite. I personally wish they had the Champions League duo.. Who does the CL games with Tommy?** Oh I was wondering why the atmosphere sounds better in some games then others..[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 3:12 PM. Reason : z]
6/11/2006 3:11:46 PM
I like the irish guy. The American broadcasters I can do without.
6/11/2006 3:11:47 PM
Derek Rae, I thinkI just checked, it is Rae, there's a pretty cool bio on him on wikipedia if anybody's interestedhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Rae[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 3:16 PM. Reason : rae]
6/11/2006 3:12:22 PM
Yeah, Derek Rae was left off doing on-screen World Cup coverage. The rumored reason was that ESPN didn't want English accents doing the big games.
6/11/2006 3:34:39 PM
That is ugly hairstyle.
6/11/2006 3:47:26 PM
ahahahha, "i'm not sure what he did wrong there... maybe it was is ere style that got the referee's attention." (hair style... in an irish accent)
6/11/2006 3:48:00 PM
Does anybody else hate Ronaldo or is it just me? He pouts after every foul, every missed shot, every time he isn't passed the ball. And don't get me wrong, I think he's talented, but every EPL game I watched, all it seems like he does is dribble (usually including numerous unnecessary crossovers) and I hate when he crosses it with his legs crossed... he seems to do that alot, did it in today's game too
6/11/2006 3:55:09 PM
Did you say Renaldo...or Ginobli? Yeah, I've seen a lot of stuff like that in the couple games I've watched so far. Guys are getting barely bumped and you'd think someone just shot them with a gun. I thought the women's cup was next year...And, like all sports, many don't want to play the game, they want to fool the ref. Thats just today's athletes, which is a direct reflection on today's society.
6/11/2006 4:06:20 PM
I don't know a whole lot about soccer, but Angola sucks. No threat to score a goal whatsoever. Portugal playing like shit after first 5 minutes, but it would take a huge mistake to lose this game. This is the very definition of boring.
6/11/2006 4:19:20 PM
This game is very similar to the England - Paraguay game. Early goal, boring game afterwards, and a very disappointing performance by a heavy favorite.
6/11/2006 4:29:55 PM
Angola's flag makes me want to hunt down whoever designed it, smack them, and yell "communism failed, get over it"EDIT:i swear it looks like a sickle on the small top-image of the flag... bigger image is different... whatever[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 4:53 PM. Reason : .]
6/11/2006 4:47:35 PM
I wish they would have a big wall on the field and paint it at halftime. Then at least we could watch it dry. Whoever said this game could get ugly was right on the mark.
6/11/2006 4:48:07 PM
Well, to change subjects from this boring game, did anybody see this comment from Kasey Keller?
6/11/2006 4:52:07 PM
who picks Cisse over Zidane? (that commercial where the kids are choosing teams)
6/11/2006 4:54:58 PM
haha, I would... I really like Cisse for some reason. I'd like a forward with his pace and Zidane is old
6/11/2006 5:01:19 PM
so i called woodys downtown...they said they have espn2HD and will be open at 1130am for the USA game...who wants to go?
6/11/2006 5:05:36 PM
id like a forward with better hair dye
6/11/2006 5:07:19 PM
Zidane is old... BUTdo you remember that UEFA cup first round match? France v. England? 1 - 0 England in the 90th minute. Zidane pulls out TWO stoppage time goals for the win. It was amazing... That's the game that Beckham fucked up bad. He had a PK in the 60th minute I think it was and he missed the goal over the top crossbar by like 5 feet. Horrible. But I don't think Zidane and co. made it past the group stage. That was just a flash of the old France team that won the 1998 world cup...[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 5:13 PM. Reason : .]

i'm thinking Mexico can handle Portugal, and Croatia will Italy a run for its money when it comes to the bracket games
6/11/2006 10:37:42 PM
Italy won't make it out of the group.
6/11/2006 10:42:10 PM
^ so you're thinking us and the Czechs?I think we're probably gonna barely miss out on goal difference at 1-1-1.
6/11/2006 10:46:24 PM
yeah i wish i knew why everybody and their mother obsesses over italy
6/11/2006 10:46:47 PM
I see us optimistically at 2-0-1, with the draw being tomorrow, though I'll admit to being up in the air with Ghana. If we can stretch the Ital D by running EJ, McB, Beasley, and Convey at them, I like our chances, even if they nick one early.
6/11/2006 10:52:58 PM
i got Italy going deep
6/11/2006 10:57:25 PM
out of the 3 teams in our group, im not afraid to admit that Ghana scares me the most, especially if we're 1-1 going into that game
6/11/2006 10:59:33 PM
^ It's just they're the biggest unknown. The African teams so far haven't done much. Ivory Coast was pretty much Didier Drogba and Angola today were a complete joke.Tie or Loss versus the CzechsLoss or Tie versus ItalyWin versus GhanaThe thing that could hurt us is that one of Italy or the Czechs could be qualified by the time they meet in the final game. So one could be playing the B-team when we need the other team to lose so we can slide into the second spot.[Edited on June 11, 2006 at 11:14 PM. Reason : .]
6/11/2006 11:11:57 PM
we're going nowhere if we end up 1-1-1

we were 1-1-1 in 2002 werent we? we had 4 pts. im pretty sure
6/11/2006 11:32:28 PM
Yeah.Win over Portugal, draw with South Korea, loss to Poland.
6/11/2006 11:44:59 PM
yep...our fate lied in the hands of portugal's 3rd game. so anyone going to any bars or pubs for the game tomorrow? post here where youre going...
6/12/2006 12:08:59 AM
6/12/2006 12:34:22 AM
no
6/12/2006 12:48:18 AM
If one of Togo, Ghana, Angola, or Cote D'Iviore can make it to the second round, I will know which country to root for.
6/12/2006 1:19:15 AM
Togo ain't got much of a chance without any coaches, I'm afraid.[Edited on June 12, 2006 at 1:25 AM. Reason : d]
