^How do you people know when the next page is coming up, do you through and count the posts or something? I don't get this
10/25/2009 1:19:32 AM
before somebody can be a dickit's just if the (post count / 50) has a remainder of 49 - like 149 or 399 or etc. The number of posts is visible in the thread listing.

^^its something to do on a Saturday night when you've got nothing better going on.

my 3g has been in and out all day today! is everybody elses like that?
10/25/2009 7:45:28 PM
i love my iphone, i do. but jesus christ i am getting sick of the futility that is AT&T's service during big events like football games. Yet another sunday at the Panther game that i try and log on to check the early game scores before kickoff. Nothing loads, everything times out. sportstap, yahoo fantasy app, the browser itself. then i borrow my dad's verizon phone. 3 clicks and less than 2 minutes later and i'm completely up to date on all scores and my fantasy teams. It really is ridiculous.there's a map for that!
10/25/2009 8:13:28 PM
I was at the game too! My phone was going in and out..my browser wasn't even working ugh
10/25/2009 8:33:07 PM
As has been said many many times now, if you turn off 3G you will usually be able to get through. I'm not defending AT&T's shitty service in any way, but it is a workaround that's usually better than nothing.
10/25/2009 9:06:33 PM
if verizon had the quantity of data going through it that att does due to the iphone.... it would have issues too i bet. that being said FIX IT FIX IT FIX IT!!!
10/25/2009 9:19:07 PM
^^^^then turn fucking 3G off. no network is designed to handle that kind of volume of people in one place.
10/25/2009 9:42:14 PM
I did turn 3g off then at one point it gave me no service!
10/25/2009 10:06:28 PM
trust me, i know the turn off/on 3G workaround. had no effect. even tried to restart iphone.
10/25/2009 11:23:35 PM
So is that commercial where Verizon compares the 3G coverage maps accurate? I know they are two entirely different types of 3G, but it just seems like they embellished the maps a bit.
10/26/2009 10:02:31 AM
if you've tried to take an iphone outside of a major metropolitan area, it's not really that inaccurate. hell, sometimes having an iphone in a busy wireless area is just like not having 3g at all.
10/26/2009 10:42:11 AM
10/26/2009 11:07:31 AM
probably, but you have to consider the amount of data that iphone users use. blackberry is more business-y and people don't play as many online games, track their hikes, and the million other things it does using the internet.

i dont know if this has been posted yet, but have you seen the viper remote start thing for the iphone?http://www.crn.com/mobile/220600547;jsessionid=CJS005NOLI12FQE1GHRSKH4ATMY32JVNpretty cool, except it costs $500 if you don't already have a viper system, and $30/year for service after the first year.
10/26/2009 1:24:42 PM
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/10/26/iphone_helps_att_continue_subscriber_gains_on_verizon.html^That's neat. Not worth that much $$$ though. I have a viper system, and it'll still cost $299 for the wireless module? Jeez. Although the only need for this is if you forgot to lock your car and are too far for the key fab to work. I don't see any other point.
10/26/2009 1:55:36 PM
10/26/2009 2:28:14 PM
I cant imagine the mass exodus when AT&T no longer has exclusive rights
10/26/2009 2:30:53 PM
i will be goneee
10/26/2009 2:32:00 PM
^only by early adopters. I don't see a lot of people jumping ship just to have to buy a new phone to be on a different carrier. Not at these prices at least. And I don't think its going to be as simple as swapping sim cards on your existing phone since Verizon isn't GSM.If they release the same phone for both carriers i'll stick with AT&T since i'm already here and I have Uverse. If verizon gets a better phone then i might have to jump ship.
10/26/2009 2:33:00 PM
we (my office, 8 people with iphones) will jump ship for verizon the second it's possible...as long as,the phone is the same or better, preferably the latter. no dumbed down versions.
10/26/2009 2:58:43 PM
What if, theoretically, another carrier offers a lower monthly rate for your bill and the same iPhone? Would you jump ship then?Or do you like paying $150 to AT&T for the unlimited talk plan?(Not directed at a specific person, just iPhone people in general)[Edited on October 26, 2009 at 3:32 PM. Reason : .]
10/26/2009 3:31:00 PM
^^^ Even if it's limited to early adopters jumping ship, that's still a lot of people for AT&T to lose. The last thing that AT&T wants to do is to lose any customers. But if you give people an alternative that lets them still use their iPhone domestically, and have better service, seems to me like you'd have a winner.[Edited on October 26, 2009 at 3:40 PM. 10/26/2009 4:08:37 PM
^^^^we would probably jump ship even it costs more at verizon. we're not in raleigh, we're in rocky mount. we get SHIT for just regular talking type coverage. of course there's no 3g here w/ at&t. i just ran speedtest and got 10 kb/s. i get almost no service in my house.when i had verizon, my cell phone speed was faster than my home internet (1.5Mbps), so i just tethered. there's absolutely no coverage in northampton county (where we have 3 projects right now), hardly any in e-city, and crap on the way to the beach.[Edited on October 26, 2009 at 4:11 PM. Reason : can't type]
10/26/2009 4:09:24 PM
^that is also another reason why I don't mind AT&T is because I'm not in that type of situation which a lot of people are in. But I live in Raleigh and I'm generally always in a big city vs. rural areas or small towns.
10/26/2009 4:16:01 PM
^ I just moved to a medium-sized town in Texas, and the spotty big blue T coverage was the reason that I made the leap to Verizon. I retrospect, I wish I'd waited for about 2 months, so I could have gotten a Droid on contract.
10/26/2009 5:38:02 PM
So apparently deleting voicemails from your iPhone UI doesn't actually delete voicemails on AT&T's side. People have been telling me my voicemail box has been full for a while and when i called my voicemail (since none are showing up on my phone) there are tons of vm in the erased folder that haven't been deleted. WTF? I now have to go through one by one and delete them and I have no idea how many there are. they go way back.
10/27/2009 2:10:55 PM
are they in your deleted box on the iphone?
10/27/2009 2:13:15 PM
^nope. I have no vm and no deleted vm on the iphone. my vm tab is completely empty.
10/27/2009 2:16:39 PM
lol thats pretty great.
10/27/2009 2:17:42 PM
hmm, just checked mine and i dont have that problem.
10/27/2009 2:23:18 PM
i'm not sure how this happened. I would think that something like this could have happened if I had replaced a phone recently without clearing out the deleted messages but I've had the same phone since the 3gs came out.
10/27/2009 2:25:33 PM
i've had some weird shit happen after doing any kind of restore or upgrade.. it would show no voicemails until i got one then it'd ask for my pw..then everything would show up/work right. no idea if that's related to your issue
10/27/2009 7:15:43 PM
^that could have something to do with it. There have been a couple of software upgrades since the 3GS came out. Although i would think this problem would have surfaced by now if that is truly the issue.
10/27/2009 7:50:41 PM
heh.
10/28/2009 7:03:05 PM
retarded commercial. they start out with valid points (though the significance of half of them won't register with most consumers) and then turn it into a scary movie? i don't get it.

10/29/2009 10:14:36 AM
Just got the AT&T 3G MicroCell. So far it works as advertised. Where I used to get only 1 bar of coverage in my room - and only when the iPhone was in the window sill - I now have 5 bars.
10/29/2009 11:43:45 PM
Get verizon and you will probably have signal in your room anyway.
10/29/2009 11:49:13 PM
^and a locked down shitty phonepersonally I think AT&T's response to Verizon's "theres a map for that" should just be a globe. *shrug*[Edited on October 29, 2009 at 11:58 PM. Reason : .]
10/29/2009 11:57:33 PM
^ I am surprised they have not thought of that yet. I am also surprised Verizon had the balls to take a shot like that at them, I guarantee if ATT were a CDMA provider they would not have done that. Its not like VZW has to negotiate roam agreements with ATT since the phones are not even compatible. You will not see them taking shots like that at Sprint, US Cellular, or any other CDMA carrier. Sprint would be the worlds easiest target. Just show this....

10/30/2009 1:39:48 AM
aren't they all poisoned with Vcast garbage?because the article I read about android on Verizon indicated they were locked down and you could only buy apps and what not through vcast at a premium. Because apparently verizon doesn't like the Apple App store that gives most of the money to developers and not the cell provider. *shrug*[Edited on October 30, 2009 at 1:52 AM. Reason : .]
10/30/2009 1:51:25 AM
With blackberry, android and winmo there's nothing stopping you from just installing apps. you might not be able to use the official vendor marketplaces, but they aren't "locked".AFAIK the only phones like that are the garbage free phones.
