That's what really grinds my gears. Instead of taking the "these kids made poor choices and are now facing the consequences" route they took the "no one knew any of this was going on, we are the victims here, please feel sorry for us" route.

Chief Davis coming up on ESPN to talk about the perseverance of the Tar Holes

both. most of the hold outs are for the academic prong of the scandal, which the NCAA has not been involved in for the most part. They are just now sort of getting to that.
11/10/2010 4:09:21 PM
So the guys officially ruled ineligible by the NCAA, how many of them are now playing and how/why did the get their eligibility back..
11/10/2010 4:11:14 PM
Most, and because their suspensions only lasted 4-6 games
11/10/2010 4:26:23 PM
I like how Charles Brown, who was ruled ineligible for the LSU game (read: not a precautionary holdout from the game, but an actual ineligibility issue from either UNC or the NCAA), is planning on coming back next year as a redshirt seniorAlthough he might be full of shit and planning on going to the NFL draft]

the denial and ignorance in the IC board is simply incredible. no one realizes the reality of the situation.
11/11/2010 6:43:47 PM
You guys really don't get it yet do you? The tutor is complicit in this release. She is just one more cog in the UNC "not my fault" machine. The NCAA and the press were allowing UNC to handle the academic "prong" without any oversight. UNC took advantage of this situation and cleaned everything up. Most likely she is a willing (paid) scapegoat who will never have anything to say about the reality of the situation. So far UNC is pointing fingers (rogue agents, players and coach) and the tutor is just the next person who is to blame for the situation (poor unlucky UNC for all this to be happening to them). The interesting thing is this is most likely the "cleaned" version of the academic situation at UNC. I wonder what the real situation was like if this is just what they couldn't hide!
11/11/2010 7:01:19 PM
so let me get this straight... the tutor was paying the players too??? lol. so, I guess Butch(or some booster) was paying the tutor like $1500/hr to "tutor his son"?[Edited on November 11, 2010 at 7:31 PM. Reason : blah]
11/11/2010 7:31:18 PM
11/11/2010 7:40:22 PM
We HAVE to know how much the tutor was making now, Butch has to put this info out there or someone has to find a way to check tax returns or bank records.

11/11/2010 8:33:31 PM
Hey, Vernon. I wanna ride the go-karts. Can I borrow $20?Sure, kid. Here you go.
11/11/2010 8:43:51 PM
how many $20 meals is a guy allowed to get before it's too much?
11/11/2010 8:46:53 PM
dont forget people $20 is more like $2000 in NCAA terms

http://frathousesports.com/unc-tutor-found#more-15777it's old, but I like how they say she's a "stand up girl, she's no snitch". So, not telling the truth about what happened makes you a "stand up girl?" Really?
11/11/2010 10:07:49 PM
AHA, so in an industry in which men make millions of dollars by breaking the rules, we're really gonna string up this pathetic Wiley character?I'm so surprised.
11/11/2010 11:05:43 PM
im sure everyone over at IC has the standard: "this isn't news, we all knew this before, just glad we're getting everyone back to make a run at the national championship"
11/12/2010 12:13:25 AM
FWIW Erin Summers (author of the WRAL article) is a UNC alum
11/12/2010 1:34:39 AM
fuck college sports. minor leagues for the pros. just start paying the fuckers and you would avoid bending and breaking the "rules". A shitload of money is going away when they do start paying players - I give boosters the benefit of the doubt that they are not going to Cam Newton every 4+ star recruit. They might, and I'm out like a boner in sweat pants. No way am I paying for a bunch of guys who can't pass a HS equalivalency exam to get four years of bling, hoes, and Escamalades. At some point, money will talk. Hopefully, the boosters with the most money stand behind the schools with integrity. I almost see a civil war erupting. Maybe it will coincide with the conference shake up. Fuck college athletics - might save a few years off my life if I quit caring...last week took at least .3 years off. For those of you that say "good riddance" to my type, enjoy your minor leagues. It's worked out great for baseball.
11/12/2010 2:31:13 AM
Hell I don't even care for the idea of athletic scholarships for people that are idiots. I went to high school with a guy that could hardly spell his own fucking name, watched him get a free college "education" at UNC and then go on to the NFL, all because he's fat and tall. Makes me sick.
11/12/2010 3:21:05 AM
they're holding out for a little thing called "statute of limitations"
11/12/2010 5:09:19 AM
Apparently the original WRAL article posted the tutor's full home address but I saw it after that was removed. She might have some angry UNC people on her doorstep.
11/12/2010 5:33:55 AM
UNC is showing its true colors, throwing the tutor under the bus. i can't wait for the pure schadenfreude in a year or so when the hammer finally comes down.
