some guys on PP are saying that we wanted this guy and have been after him for a while.
11/12/2011 12:17:59 PM
I think we have been after him for a while...IIRC, he was "soft verbal" to Kentucky not long ago. Guess he changed his mind...[Edited on November 12, 2011 at 12:44 PM. Reason : he was a soft verbal...it's in one of the articles ^^]
11/12/2011 12:44:17 PM
yay we got a rb that runs a 4.93/40gg TOBhttp://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/110929/shadrach-thornton[Edited on November 12, 2011 at 4:04 PM. Reason : f]

haha

We stole a Kentucky recruit that is awesome! they are a powerhouse in recruiting...oh wait wrong thread.[Edited on November 12, 2011 at 4:32 PM. Reason : a]
11/12/2011 4:31:44 PM
Hopefully we can get that DE Owino too. I don't have a problem with this class. Yeah it won't win us any recruiting accolades, but I expect these guys will help us win a lot of games.
11/12/2011 7:18:12 PM
^x4 I don't know where ESPN got that 40 time, but Scout and Rivals both have Thornton listed as having a 4.55 40 time. Dude is fast enough. The main thing though is he is very tough to bring down. If he develops as we hope, the TV announcers will love talking about how many YAC he averages. Georgia Tech wanted him bad, and they have a reputation for having one of if not the best collection of running backs in the ACC every year since Paul Johnson arrived. I'm not saying Thornton will be the next Trent Richardson, but he should be very serviceable for us.
11/12/2011 9:23:23 PM
^GT's running backs are average. They just run a scheme that allows them to rack up yards.
11/13/2011 1:06:51 AM
In fairness, how often does a running back get to show off their 40 time behind our offensive line?
11/13/2011 8:29:49 AM
Commitment from JUCO OL incoming
11/15/2011 1:59:10 PM
that's nice. now we need another linebacker.
11/15/2011 2:06:05 PM
Also there's a scout article up where their recruiting analyst predicts Noah Spence committing to State.
11/15/2011 2:08:28 PM
that'd be very nice
11/15/2011 2:10:43 PM
lol we're not getting Spence
11/15/2011 2:39:11 PM
lol i don't put any stock in your opinion (that's not to say we won't get him)
11/15/2011 2:57:54 PM
lol nor to i put any stock in whether you put stock in mine. I just prefer to keep my head out of the clouds. This is the TOB led wolfpack after all
11/15/2011 3:01:52 PM
nobody's heads were in the clouds. someone stated what an article said. not sure why some "fans" feel it's their duty to shit on anybody who's not being negative (btw, TOB has landed blue-chip players before)
11/15/2011 3:08:39 PM
it's being realistic.
11/15/2011 3:28:31 PM
11/15/2011 3:31:16 PM
congratulations, but it's actually just being a jerk. it'd be different if you were responding to a poster with his head in the clouds who actually thought we were going to get spence, but i don't see any of them in here.
11/15/2011 3:31:58 PM
Realistically Spence would not come to NC State. I hope I'm wrong.
11/15/2011 3:43:10 PM
Realistically someone who has interviewed him multiple times knows way more about the situation than some halfwit on an internet message board who looks at his scout profile and makes a snap judgement.
11/15/2011 3:55:18 PM
I don't think "realistic" is the word the guy was looking for anyways. I think he was going more for "probable". For example, it wasn't probable that Rob Crisp or Mike Glennon would come to State (but in reality, they did). Many basketball "fans" didn't think it was probable that TJ Warren or Rodney Purvis would commit to NC State (but in reality, they did).[Edited on November 15, 2011 at 4:26 PM. Reason : ]
11/15/2011 4:16:17 PM
Yeah I don't think we would have had any shot had the Penn State scandal not broken when it did. But that combined with his family ties to the school give us a chance this late in the game.
11/15/2011 4:34:57 PM
I guess years and years of experience following recruiting and NC State sports in general has scared me away from any sort of thought that resembles wishful thinking. Spence coming to NCSU is possible, but I don't like getting my hopes up anymore.
11/15/2011 4:58:54 PM
so apparently this JuCo O-line committed, but the news seems slow to "break". I think his name is John Tu'utu, or something like that. (and i certainly don't have my head in the clouds about landing Spence. probably won't happen. but it would be nice, and it is possible)
11/15/2011 5:06:31 PM
here's his profile:http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncstate/football/recruiting/player-John-Tu'uta-133565
11/15/2011 6:48:12 PM
^^ I don't think he's a JUCO, I think he's a prep athlete.
11/15/2011 7:06:26 PM
yeah, you right
11/15/2011 7:20:41 PM
3 star athlete Lakeith Walls also commits.

Nice, Walls is a big pickup. Lots of positions he could play with that size and speed. I'd be happy as hell though if we landed Spence. yea yea he's a 5* but that dude is a monster and we need someone scary like that on the DL.
11/15/2011 11:35:26 PM
^^isn't Brown in the league somewhere still?
11/16/2011 8:00:58 AM
Andre Brown is on the Giants.
11/16/2011 8:16:09 AM
practice squad though.
11/16/2011 9:32:01 AM
3 commits in the week, including 2 RB/ATHs. LaKeith Wall's list looks pretty impressive, and he's pretty big for a RB (6'4" 200 lbs)[Edited on November 16, 2011 at 10:01 AM. Reason : ]
11/16/2011 10:01:41 AM
that's huge for a RB. Perhaps the staff has other plans for him (WR, S, etc.)
11/16/2011 10:09:51 AM
Only prominent nfl HB that tall I could find is Brandon Jacobs... but he is also 250~ lbs...i bet they move him outside or on the other side of the ball.
11/16/2011 10:18:57 AM
Walls said the staff is going to start him out at tailback, but he could move to DB or LB depending on how things shake out.
11/16/2011 11:50:03 AM
you got to have a big back if we are going to keep doing the RB Dive play god i hate that play
11/16/2011 12:37:15 PM
State's class is now ranked 44th nationally, and 7th in the ACC according to Scout.[Edited on November 17, 2011 at 3:05 PM. Reason : .]

more Shadrach Thornton highlightshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukzFuXieWqo at the @2:50 mark
11/18/2011 9:44:14 AM
Man, if he had a speed coach he could really up his game. He seems to lack a second gear. White dudes in the secondary were walking him down.
11/18/2011 10:18:52 AM
he's got some great toughness - we will need a 3rd down back to combine w/ mustafa so this could work
11/18/2011 10:29:38 AM
great agility too.
11/18/2011 11:10:46 AM
@ http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ukzFuXieWqo#t=196s3:16ishwe need a tough guy like this running the ball.
11/18/2011 11:13:01 AM
he runs a 4.9 - 40
