Finally got around to watching the finale. Are we absolutely sure it was the drunk that Rick shot and not the dying husband?
4/11/2015 9:47:19 AM
didn't think of that... the husband WOULD need a head shot to prevent zombification.
4/11/2015 1:31:52 PM
It also crossed my mind that Abraham had him in an arm bar, and may've been a little too close for Rick to shoot
4/11/2015 1:49:19 PM
i thought of that too... the guy appeared to be secured very tightly and a shot would be very risky (although emotions, heat of the moment, etc)

The wolves! I wonder if the ending of season 4 is foreshadowing? Our mother has been absentever since we founded Rome, but there's gonna be a party when the wolf comes home.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG0iF-mA-pI[Edited on April 12, 2015 at 10:50 PM. Reason : l]

I considered that same thing when I watched it, but i think it was probably the doctor he shot. They were playing up Morgan and his new life is precious outlook, so it shows how much Morgan and Rick's viewpoints have changed again, and foreshadows possible conflict between them, by having him show up just as Rick shoots the doctor.

The season premier (Oct 11, I think?) is supposed to have more zombies than any previous episode
8/24/2015 2:23:43 PM
Gameday! I've come to expect a lot to happen in the season premiere and then just drag on from week to week.
10/11/2015 12:59:31 PM
Rick needs to take one member of "the group" and rip their throat out with his teeth tonight, just to show that he is in charge.
10/11/2015 1:27:33 PM
Pre-opening-credits scene seemed epic. Then it was just flashbacks and a lame cliffhanger. omg, a horn!
10/11/2015 11:24:34 PM
thought it was good
10/11/2015 11:46:11 PM
The scope of the quarry was great. But I guess I know how much slower the next few episodes will be so I wanted more from the premiere.
10/11/2015 11:52:51 PM
If you were going to try to lead that horde in any direction wouldn't the goal be to keep the quarry between the zombies and your town just in case they started to roam? Then the roamers fall back into the quarry so you're no worse for wear.
10/12/2015 12:02:10 AM
^Well the way they've depicted the "super herd" so far, is that once you get them moving in one direction, they need something to draw them in a different direction. So in theory if they draw them far enough away, they'll continue walking on that path until something else pulls their attention. So unless Alexandria starts having firework shows at night, they should be safe if they lead them several miles away.Obviously that plan was shot to shit with the horn. I actually think the next couple of episodes are going to be really fast-paced based on the previews. Should be good.
10/12/2015 8:12:16 AM
I thought the first episode was epic, though for the first 15-20 min I didn't know WTF was going on.Basic question, but why didn't they light the herd on fire while they were still in the quarry? Too difficult to keep the burning going? I feel like it was a "fish in a barrel" situation and that there may have been another way to deal with them.
10/12/2015 8:55:28 AM
My only guess is that anything flammable would be too precious to waste (i.e. gas, oil, alcohol). It's also a dry quarry and would be hard to start and/or maintain a sizable inferno.
10/12/2015 9:06:04 AM
wow, i thought this premiere was going to be lambasted on here and it seems most everyone enjoyed it. i thought it was pretty bad overall.
10/12/2015 9:15:57 AM
I thought the flashbacks were overused, and overall annoying
10/12/2015 9:39:22 AM
^ i thought the same thing but my wife loved them
10/12/2015 9:49:00 AM
5^Setting the entire quarry on fire would be pretty tough, you'd need a lot of flammables and precision to make sure the fire stayed contained, killed everything, and was put out effectively. Also you'd have a GIANT smoke cloud in the sky that would potentially draw more walkers in that direction or more humans(Wolves, others) right to Alexandria.
10/12/2015 10:05:17 AM
Put me in the "meh" category. I was disappointed by the premiere. I hated the use of black & white. Seems like everybody I've talked to either thought it was awesome, or was disappointed. I can't really put a finger on what it is, but something felt off. Before, when there was a herd, it looked & felt like a herd of zombies. This time though, it looked like a herd of people pretending to be zombies.
10/12/2015 11:49:07 AM
i was totally ready for this season. Pumped to sit down and watch last night and just felt very luke warm about the whole thing. i don't know if it was the summer break, not rewatching anything, or what. I just felt disconnected from everything and Rick seemed more out of control than ever. I've always been team Rick but i felt myself saying "chill the fuck out man" several times.

I think whats going on is that we had a break from when they were all out on the road trying to survive. Distance from Terminus. When they first got to Alexandria the audience was in toon with Rick about how extreme you have to be to survive.Ricks people are still hard as hell. We've forgotten how they were and they havent changed.I loved the episode. The reason those trucks were there in the first place didn't make sense or why they were in those positions. Because nobody would put them there unless there was a horde already there or they intended to put a horde there on purpose or knew one would form from migration.Maybe that quarry is being used by another group. The episode explored one of those scenarios in dealing with protecting a zone which I love. They seem to ignore some of the basics. How are they maintaining food, keeping up with electricity, look out towers, wall strength, blind spots, patrols, scouting, expanding protected area for crops. But, they havent had any time from last season to this one. Seems like very little time has passed. A month at most. Which they explored some with the black and white flash backs. They need more time to flesh some of the logistics out. Or they wont and just deal with crazy action from threats 3 4 and 5.
10/12/2015 2:53:34 PM
The quarry had to bring back some great memories for Carol.
10/12/2015 4:53:05 PM
10/12/2015 6:54:49 PM
I, too, was underwhelmed with this episode. The next few episodes will probably just focus on fighting off the horde in Alexandria and lots of the original residents getting massacred, causing a big rift with Rick's crew.Carol's playing innocent is getting to be over the top.
10/12/2015 7:41:55 PM
I definitely think the Wolves are responsible for the horn blowing. I forgot about them until the very end and then it dawned on me.
10/12/2015 9:37:33 PM
My roommate kept asking me why they were going back and forth between color and B&W...My roommate is an idiot
10/13/2015 8:58:27 AM
This may have been the worst season premier to date. The back and forth of the black and white didn't offer anything of value. A chronological story would have been just as good here. It very likely is the wolves who honked the horn. Either that or the dumb ass kid of the drunk, murdering, wife-beating doctor. I was really excited about this season but given how slow the middle episodes are I'm now a little worried since the premier, which is generally epic, was so bland.
10/13/2015 10:47:43 AM
When they heard the horn, Rick said that it sounded like 'home', so maybe there is an emergency back at Alexandria. But why the fuck would they use a blaring horn, knowing the horde operation being conducted. Here is my guess: while Rick and crew were out herding zombies, the Wolves took the opportunity to invade Alexandria. The next episode may be what was happening in Alexandria while Rick and crew were away. Alexandria gets taken over, and either the Wolves want to bring Rick back as a trap, or in a last ditch emergency, someone from Alexandria blew the horn to get Rick back ASAP to help fight off the Wolves invasion. The following episode will be Rick and his crew seal team six-ing their way back into Alexandria, killing the Wolves, and everyone realizing how much Rick is needed. They have all but a few minutes of relief before the zombie herd reaches them and wrecks Alexandria's world - I expect deaths to main characters. Obviously at least Rick will make it, and any other survivors will either move away from Alexandria or try to rebuild Alexandria from scratch in Rick's vision.
10/13/2015 11:30:21 AM
^My guess is you're right that it's the Wolves, but I'm guessing they're planning on using the herd to take out Alexandria. Guessing Alexandria will be hit by the herd and then the Wolves will show up. It looked like they used a similar tactic in Noah's hometown last season(I think Richmond) where you could tell the town had been overrun by walkers, plus the traps they've shown(trucks full of walkers). Guessing we'll have an episode of Rick and Co getting back and the herd hitting Alexandria, probably followed by another episode wrapping that up and the Wolves showing up expecting the town to have been wiped out.[Edited on October 13, 2015 at 12:30 PM. Chickens in a cage suspended 10 feet beyond the edge of the cliff via one of the trees, they would be killing walkers 24/7
10/13/2015 1:32:24 PM
Problem with that specific situation is that you would have to have it all the way around the quarry. Its a fantastic idea if you can generate noise, attract walkers constantly, and have them go over a cliff. But only if you can funnel them in from one direction. Unless you fence off all the way around the quarry and have several narrow gaps off the cliff
10/13/2015 2:22:53 PM
^Eh, they had enough paneling it seemed based on building the little chute for the walkers to move along the road.Just build a path of panels along the rim of the quarry from the exit, have it form a hallway of sorts. Have it loop with a bend at the end and have it lead back to the cliff. Have someone in the tunnel bait the zombies, come to the bend, get pulled out(climb out) before the zombies sees where the person goes, they should continue on their same path once they get to the bend. The herd should continue to just plummet following the zombies in front of them.Or, if they managed to find dynamite/explosives/heavy machinery, just take out the ramp in the quarry and it basically just becomes a giant pit full of zombies with no way out. Plenty of options here better than freeing them and making them a moving weapon that will eventually destroy whatever it runs into.
