It depends. Do you need/want LTE? dual-core? easily hackable device? For 3G, the successors to the Droid, Droid X and Incredible will be coming. As for LTE, the Thunderbolt is the first. Awesome phone but have to watch battery life especially when using LTE. The Charge/Stealth/whatever the fuck Samsung is calling their LTE phone should be out in early April and should be nice if you don't care about software updates. Easter has been rumored for the Bionic which will likely be the only Dual-Core LTE device coming. The OS isn't optimized for dual core yet so the benefits of it are a crap shoot and you still have to deal with blur and a locked device. No ETA on the LG Revolution but it seems to look like a decent option with a less intrusive skin.

what are the chances that the iphone5 will support the LTE network on Verizon? I'm due for an update, I like the iphone, but if its not gonna be 4g until 2012 I think I would just go with the Bionic.

what are the chances that apple quits neutering their devices so they have capabilities typical of smartphones? none.

CM7 RC3 out
3/28/2011 9:52:15 AM
got it last night...waiting to see if people have issues with it like the SD card one last time...and secretly waiting for MattedBlues to update before i update to RC3.
3/28/2011 11:17:13 AM
I'm still on 30 myself. I know MB is fine with 31, does it break on rc3?Does your camcorder freeze in cm7?[Edited on March 28, 2011 at 11:20 AM. Reason : .]
3/28/2011 11:19:31 AM
camcorder confirmed freezing in CM7n30 with MBn30flashed to CM7RC3 without MB to see if it persists and found camcorder to work fine.i can live without MB...using honeybread theme for now again.
3/28/2011 11:47:06 AM
Camcorder was freezing on my buddy's incredible with honeybread, so it may have been a CM7 bugfix.
3/28/2011 12:39:53 PM
MBn32 works on CM7n32 and camcorder issues seem to have been resolved.I've never had an SDcard issue so I can't speak to that.[Edited on March 28, 2011 at 7:43 PM. Reason : .]

3/29/2011 1:06:09 AM
Sorry df, I actually meant MB 30, but good lookin' out on RC3 looks like beatblaster addressed my GMail issue! I feel loved. I guess I should throw him more than 2 bucks now, lol. Any idea what would cause a boot loop on someone trying to use this theme on HTC Incredible?[Edited on March 29, 2011 at 1:24 AM. Reason : ]
3/29/2011 1:20:14 AM
lol it was a waste to get CM7n32literally the only change from RC3 was a wallpaper accreditation:http://review.cyanogenmod.com/#patch,sidebyside,4233,1,res/values/wallpapers.xmlhttp://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=supersonic
3/29/2011 2:35:09 AM
RC3 failed and when I went to check the site I saw 32. Fucking wallpaper dances -- I want cm_babes back.

are there any good sms widgets out there? i use chompSMS but i don't like that the widget only shows unread messages. sometimes i want to glance back at an old messages. the launcherpro sms widget worked great, but i had to stop using launcherpro because it started crashing a lot
3/29/2011 3:06:29 PM
have a feeling my phone might explode.
3/29/2011 4:18:46 PM
^^^ trying that now.... not sire I like it... awkward getting to alternate characters
3/29/2011 4:25:10 PM
^^ how are you content using the default alarm clock on the phone? it really blows imo
3/29/2011 9:45:09 PM
There's an alternative?
3/29/2011 9:52:57 PM
What's wrong with the default? As long as the shit goes off when I tell it, I don't care. Plus the SenseUI alarm clock is better than the other native alarm clocks. Side note- HTC makes the most god awful ringtones and notifications]
3/29/2011 10:12:26 PM
^agreed re: ringtones and notifications. i made my own
3/29/2011 10:21:05 PM
I'm with you.... it goes off when I want. I do hate the newer version where clock Goes to some dumb ass desktop thing... but I have an alarmclock shortcut
3/29/2011 10:35:16 PM
So any recommendations for a good sms widget?
3/29/2011 11:07:27 PM
I'm pretty sure Sleep as Android uses the built in alarm system and thus my default icon shows just the same.
3/29/2011 11:35:01 PM
i wish sleep as android had a wake to MP3 feature
3/30/2011 12:13:12 AM
Why don't you use ringdroid and make an mp3 into an alarm
3/30/2011 12:26:06 AM
LoL never thought of that....d'oh!
3/30/2011 10:41:32 AM

3/30/2011 11:29:31 PM
I got my DX last july when it first came out, and with the exception of the first 2-3 weeks that I had it, this thing has never consistently run smooth for me. Every new stock OTA update and every rom I install work fine initially, but I inevitably run into the same issues over and over (screen freezing/becoming unresponsive, keyboard not responding, etc) that require me to pull the battery and hope the phone doesn't shit itself gain for a while. If I revert back to stock (currently running gingerbread leak) and take this thing to Verizon, will they give me a new DX? I have insurance, and this really seems like more of an issue with my phone than anything else
3/31/2011 9:43:12 AM
My wife's phone had that issue. Swapping out for a new one cleared it up.Seemed to be a heat issue with hers.
3/31/2011 11:59:08 AM
So I can walk into a Verizon store and say "hey, this" and they'll give me a new one? Or am I better off calling and seeing if they'll mail me a new one?
3/31/2011 12:56:34 PM
If it's anything like Sprint, YMMV with stores. I've always had great luck with Advanced Tech Support (if you're within a year or have insurance). If it's a legitimate issue, they should overnight you one without making you issue a claim. If you do try a store then I'd go to an actual Verizon store and not an authorized reseller. Unless of course it's where you purchased the phone.
3/31/2011 1:07:31 PM
most likely won't be new and just a "certified like new" device which could have more issues.
3/31/2011 1:32:11 PM
GET A BRAND NEW* PHONE!*refurbished
3/31/2011 1:56:35 PM
Wouldn't be upset about a refurb if it worked better than the one I have now
3/31/2011 2:04:31 PM
Go to the store. 1 yr warranties typically cover this sort of thing.
3/31/2011 2:15:50 PM
They'll switch the DX out but whether it will be any better is iffy. I went through 3 defective ones before switching to an iPhone (android is nice but my shit has to work 100% and I don't have time to fuck around with 20 different rooms finding one that works and is stable). I currently have 2 more that are having issues, 1 of which is already a replacement. I'm a business account so maybe that has something to do with it but the quick agreement to switch the phones out leads me to believe that they know Moto has some issues with the phone. I've used both the store and the 800 number to get them swapped without a problem. If you call, just tell them that you've already done a factory reset and you're still having issues.
