Hearing protection. OSHA won't deal with the feds, unfortunately. This woman has a long history of crazy going back decades and it turns out she has driven off dozens of employees. Everyone else in the building is shocked I've lasted as long as I have. Talked with her boss and let him know what was going on.

OSHA will still deal with government work, but I don't think the previous poster was implying actually getting OSHA involved, rather clearly pointing out to your boss using OSHA requirements (if the company requirements -which may exceed OSHA- aren't clearly stated in a company safety plan) if there is an actual issue where you are supposed to be wearing it but they will not let you.

Where are they not allowing you to wear hearing protection and why do you need it? On any site, there are areas I wear mine and areas we are not supposed to wear it. Just like gloves. There are tasks where gloves are required as well as actual tasks where gloves are not allowed.

If it is an area where hearing protection is required and they are not letting you wear it, then definitely point that out via the safety plan or OSHA. If it is an area where it is not specifically required by OSHA or the site safety plan, then you can start getting into a grey area on whether or not they can ask you not to wear it.

I've already pointed this all out to her. Required when using a certain piece of equipment, but you can't reason with crazy.

The guy in the office next to my company's owns the building we work in (along with a lot of other stuff in town). To top it off, he didn't work to get all of his properties...he inherited them when his father died. As far as I can tell the guy is a self-indulgent douchebag...he came over with a lab puppy he recently bought and proceeded to tell us how it was from a championship blood-line and how he spent $1000 on it.

He brings the damn dog with him to work everyday and leaves for an hour or 2 at a time...he usually leaves the dog shut up in his office and the thing barks non-stop for an hour straight...makes it really fucking hard to concentrate on anything. We've asked that he do something about it, but whatever he's doing (or not doing ) doesn't seem to be working. Just leave your fucking dog at home when you're at work like everyone else in America.

I hate it when one of the teachers in the room next door heats up left over fish for lunch and that smell carries from room to room. It makes me want to puke.

Regarding the hearing protection, has she given you a reason why you can't wear hearing protection?

Call a lawyer, Document everything, and make her fire you. I'm not sue happy, but fuck that.

That being said, some applications wearing ppe makes it more dangerous. Like wearing a type of gloves that encumbers your ability to do your job safely

My boss is one of those people

And by one of those people I mean even worse because he makes me make the calls and play middle man. So I get to be the one who feels like an idiot when they ask why I had to call and didnt just email for something so simple. Granted I usually start off every conversation with "My boss wanted me to give you a call and... "

My first day back from vacation, and I'm asked to take on a small portion of a project that someone else is behind on. The next day I'm treated as if I've been the lead on the project the whole time, and that it's due very soon.

probably she started helping someone look for what they wanted and while she was looking in another part of the store, some other sales person came up and whisked the shopper away to their corner of the store

or whatever

i'm just guessing since i saw it happen when i was there

^^^^ Maybe....and I'm sure that happens.....but they still can't take the sale. Or at least, they aren't supposed to if someone else is helping them. We are given 2-3 clients (clients meaning individual or groups/parties) at a time....so consultants or dress specialists who don't have clients should get new ones who just walked in or either ask people around the store if someone is already helping them.

And as far as what I meant, it was my client and I had already wrapped up the deal and put all comments/notes on her account/wish list....but another consultant rang her up for the exact dress I commented on and had fitted her in. THAT IS MY SALE. She put it under her name. HUGE No-No!!

My cousin is constantly sending me emails his colleagues send out because they're so badly written no one has the slightest idea what they were trying to convey.

Well the problem is they don't even have to use their brains. Calculations can be found online you just have to plug in numbers. I still do it the traditional way so I don't forget that shit.

I has a summer student who was a first year medical student, which means she just got out of college last year wasn't able to convert a simple unit. I told her, try to figure it out if you can't come up with a number I'll help you. Didn't even try, just said, I don't remember.

In a previous life I sold cars for a short while. After the customer and I agreed on numbers, there was a lot of work to be done (get the new car cleaned up, gas put in it, if there is a trade-in then we have to transfer all their junk from their old car to the new, and transfer the license plate as well, etc.). Now on the weekends when lots of people are buying cars, it wasn't a big deal because there was usually a wait for your customer to get into the finance office and sign all the paperwork. But during the week, there wasn't a wait and they would get in and out really fast and be waiting on you to finish doing all that stuff with the new car.

Well when it was slow, and the customer was going to be waiting on us, sometimes another salesman will offer to help you out by transferring the license plate while you're doing the junk inside, etc. And then they will try to claim half of the sale because of it.

One time my battery on my drill died so I asked to borrow my co-workers instead of just using my screw driver. He tried to claim half the sale on that. And it basically came down to whether or not the sales managers liked you more than the guy trying to claim half the sale on if it was split or not
