The “negative recruiting” argument is sooooo weak. It’s just called recruiting. There’s nothing underhanded or dirty about a recruiting pitch that involves “hey unc is under investigation they might get major penalties”. Can we start crying about negative recruiting because Roy Williams brags about his NCAA titles to recruits and Keatts doesn’t have any?

When one makes the claim the classes were not fake you simultaneously are stating that Rashad McAnts LIED about the fake classes and that he indeed, did make the Dean's List. This is impossible to even begin a logical claim to much less a full rebuttal. When you flip a coin, it cannot land both on heads and tails. The only other claim I've heard is that McAnts did indeed cheat and he's telling the truth about himself with tutors writing his papers but he's the only one. However, having tutors write your papers would have made McAnts ineligible so...

I haven't really run across any more UNC grads that have used any other defense thatnthe entire university was doing it so it's fine, the old line from the NCAA. Program aside (i.e. ncaaT bans), not sure how individual players weren't deemed ineligible though and retroactively stripping wins/titles.

Would agree that we are "up" for the game, and the energy level is typically there, but much like playing in a pairing with Tiger in his prime (especially in the final round), where the competitor stroke average was 2-3 shots higher than normal, I would say we typically play worse against the heels in the aggregate.

I thought this was an interesting question, so I plugged in the numbers since UNC has had Roy (2004). I took UNC and State's average points scored and average points allowed for each season, and took the difference between what they scored in their games each respective year.



From 2004-2018, on average, UNC played pretty much the exact same as their yearly means, whereas State played considerably worse, scoring about 4 fewer points while allowing about 13 more than the mean.

Unsurprisingly, we play worse in the Dean Dome (8 less scored; 11 more allowed) than in PNC (.5 more points scored; 14 more allowed). UNC actually plays worse there as well (1.4 points less scored; 4.2 more points allowed).

When the heels come to Raleigh we score slightly more (.5 points) but give up more than when we play in the Dome (14.4 points). The Heels actually seem to play better against us in Raleigh (1.9 more points scored; 4.4 more given up).

tl;dr - we play worse against UNC and they seem to play better against us, even more so in Raleigh

^honestly I was mad they didn't at least look at the 3rd down play because it was close.

Anyways it didn't factor into outcome as we still scored a TD on opening 2 drives of 2nd half, we also probably wouldn't have gone for 2 on the last TD so in end we win 38-20 if you take the field goal off, still by 3 score margin.
