I had a friend talk me into getting the 'Cube version for $15 a few years ago. They're just easy going games (which isn't everyone's cup of tea). I know running around doing "chores" doesn't sound like fun, but it appeals to the OCD side of me.

After reading the review I think I'm going to hold off. I was hoping for some newer content.

When you go to the city on Animal Crossing, you can go to the "shampradoodle" salon or whatever and they can make over your character look like your Mii

its freaky

I was into Animal Crossing and MySims for like a week, then I realized it was just a giant vicious circle with no end and I promptly ditched them. That doesn't go to say I'm not a sucker who wants the new MySims Kingdom game...

I returned MySims the next day after buying it. I was highly unimpressed.

But I recently got Harevst Moon: Tree of Tranquility and I have been playing that non stop. I never played any of the previous ones so I wasn't sure if I should spulrge and buy it, but did it anyway. There are a lot of side things to learn and the quests keep it interesting and give people a goal to aim for. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it

if anybody is still looking for a wii, and you want to come to rocky mount, target had at least 20 last night, all in an electronics storage cabinet usually used for cameras.

Anyone pick up ToS2? I have ToS and I was wondering if it would be something that I want to put on my Christmas Wish List.

^Yep, I got it.

Here is the deal . . . it takes a while to get into it. The beginning is VERY tedious and has a lot of dialogue. The main kid is a whiney emo and sounds terrible. It does get better after a while though, and his voice literally changes in battle. There is definitely a lot more awkward J-humor in this game.

The monster system seems gimmicky at first, but I have accepted the critters a bit more. They are annoying though, because they are not counted towards actually being a member of you party even though they take up a slot. They cannot be human controlled, cannot be set to use items, and cannot manually be told to use any Artes (in or out of battle). The most frustrating part is that since they are not "real" members of your party, they are ignored when it comes surviving. So, if it is you and 3 monsters, you get a big fat "GAME OVER" if you die even if the 3 monsters are still alive.

The main navigation map SUCKS. You simply tell your person what town to go to and you teleport there. No exploration or fighting outside of dungeons at all.

Your party is much more thinned out when it comes to people. After 8 hours in, I still only have 2 non-monster players. Hence if you like the old one for the 4-player support, you will be greatly disappointed. Members of Lloyd's old party come and go occasionally, but they don't get titles, you can't equip them with items, and they don't level (as of yet . . . maybe it changes?). There appear to be a few more characters that *might* eventually join and be fully usable, but its certainly not the 3+ that were available IMMEDIATELY in the first game.

The environments are more static in this game. I have only found 2 clickable objects in the world that are not wonder chefs (in the old game you would find items stuffed in bookshelves, boxes, etc). There have also only been 2 places where I chose an action, which probably didn't affect the outcome anyways. Speaking of the Wonder Chef, recipies have been downgraded to simply monster-only status where you can cook for them once per level to improve their stats. So, no more strategy for what is best to cook after battle.

Another annoyance is the second character leaves the party every other town to mope, effectively removing her "Manual" settings. Its easily fixable since she immediately rejoins, but why even remove her in the first place? Its a pain for 2+ player support.

The battle system is a bit nicer. I do like the mid-air fighting with the main guy, and the ability to freely run around the field is VERY helpful. Overall, that aspect of the game is better.

-----------------

End result? I *think* I will be getting my money's worth if the improvements continue. The game just lacks out-of-combat polish and features.

Rumor has it that the next NEW Tales game will be first to Wii, so I am very hopeful for that as well.

Sounds like an excellent opportunity to catch up on titles you skipped over.
Don't forget about the VC games that have come out, including great games like World of Goo and MegaMan 9.

Disaster Day of Crisis and Punch-Out are two first-party titles that should be arriving early 09.

I'm looking forward to Deadly Creatures and Cursed Mountain. If you haven't heard of either of these, take a look on IGN. They look promising, but then again so do many Wii games, so we'll see.

Haha I know right. I've learned, that unless it is first party, not to get excited about a Wii game until I've read a few reviews.

World of Goo = 10 if just for the music score alone.

SW Unleashed, meh. Definitely not as good as it could have been. However it was still damn fun to rent. Multiplayer just leaves something still lacking w/o 1:1.

I don't know what I'm looking forward to next, seeing as I did just pick up Ninjatown for the DS

i just continued playing metroid prime 3 since i have more time..

i just beat mogenar(sp?) on bryyo... forgot how challenging and long this game is....took a while to beat him... i had to get hypermode to destroy his "sockets" and i kept running out of energy...so i would have to keep my beam charged to absorb any powerups he left lying around....

Just got Animal Crossing City Folk and have loved it for the first couple hours. Wonder if I should get Wide World on my DS and play that one too.

BTW, anybody that has this and has friend codes, we need to get a list going. I would like to play City Folk online some. In fact maybe we should have a list of TWWers, friend codes, and what games they have to play online with.

^ The differences between the wii and the DS version are not that huge. I would just stick to one or the other.

Oh, and I just found this the other day:

I was looking at the router logs and noticed the Wii authenticates at least once every 10 minutes, even when the Wii is off.

I'm curious: how often does your Wii connect to the intarpipes?

Once every 10 minutes seems excessive to me; I'm wondering if this is typical Wii behavior.

Has anybody heard of this game, Tenchu: Shadow Assassin's? I just happened to see the trailer for it on IGN (http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14258123/tenchu-4/videos/TENC4_AyameKilling_End.html) and it looks really good. Kind of like a mix between Ninja Gaiden and Assassin's Creed... a lot more focus on stealth.

Still looks pretty good but once again (as with Deadly Creatures and Cursed Mountain) I'm not gonna get excited until I read a few reviews.

I finally got my Wii back up and running after over a year of not touching it. The disc drive crapped out on me a while back and I was too busy/lazy to do anything about it.

Rather than buying a replacement drive I ended up getting a FlatMii and removing the old drive altogether. This thing works just as advertised. It streams games straight from your computer's hard drive. Pretty nifty.

^^ did you just get mario kart? or is there some kind of new update to race online now?
If there is an update on the Mario Kart disc it would be older than 3.2U, so it wouldn't matter.

^ Yes, the updates for 3.3U and 3.4U just makes it more difficult to do the twilight hack, but the hack is still accessible. If you upgrade to 3.4U it will also disable the wadmanager so you won't be able to install VC/wiiware/channels. There may be a couple other apps 3.4U disables but nothing is coming to mind besides the wadmanager.

If you change your mind and want to go back to the awesome 3.2U version there is a way to downgrade.
